A powerful Druid on the sacred Grove of the Forest
|
Traditionally,
the herbs that are listed here today were picked on the day of Litha and were
used in magical rituals and spells throughout the year. The reason behind that
is that the herbs, if harvested on the day of Litha, were considered to be more
potent. A useful tip that can make a real difference in spellcasting, as those
herbs will be blessed and empowered with the powers of the Sun and Fire.
Here you
can find a list with the herbs that are associated with the Celebration of
Litha and feel free to choose and mix them as you wish. The Druid’s herbal for
Litha is the following:
Bay, Chamomile,
Chicory, Cinquefoil, Delfinium (or alternatively known as Larkspur), Elderflower*,
Eyebright, Fennel, Lavender, Male Fern, Mistletoe, Mugwort, Orange Blossoms, Passionflower, Pine,
Saffron, St. John’s Wort, Sunflower, Thyme and Vervain
*Please use
the flowers not the branches/logs of the tree in respect to tradition.
Burn those
herbs and feel the warmth and the glory of the Sun surround you, casting away
the shadows of the past and the cold in every human heart. May you all shine
like the Midsummer Sun.
