A New Moon in Cancer July 24th 2025: Holding Space for Inner Rebirth

A New Moon in Cancer July 24th 2025: Holding Space for Inner Rebirth. On July 24th at 19:10 GMT, the New Moon aligns with the Sun at 2°08′ Leo. Occurring on the Cancer–Leo cusp it’s a more steamy than fiery new start with roots still entangled in the Crab’s realm of emotion, home, and karmic sifting. We’re being asked to slow down, drop into our bodies, and feel rather than act. What begins now is not a blaze of inspired action so much as a quiet recalibration of what truly supports our sense of belonging, safety, and self-worth.

Leo is fixed fire. Strong in its sense of Self its motto is: “I shine”. The Lion undoubtedly loves and seeks the limelight. But our big cat is also fiercely loyal with a huge heart and loves it most when others are shining too.

Leo’s were born to create, to courageously develop or more fully own their own inventive depths. Listen to what is sparking within you this New Moon.

The Sabian Symbol for 2°08′ Leo: “A mature woman keeping up with the times, having her hair bobbed.” – a symbol that invites us to explore the evolving dance between outer appearance and inner truth. It speaks to the courage required to embrace change without losing essence. To evolve with the times while staying anchored in soul. No chasing youth or trends, but consciously choosing how we show up in the world.

There is power in reinvention—when it arises from self-knowing rather than societal pressure. This symbol favours those who lead with originality and grace, blending timeless wisdom with contemporary expression.

The question isn’t how others see you, but how truly you reflect yourself back to the world.

During this Moon phase, intention-setting isn’t about loud declarations but aligning with your heart’s truth. What feels essential for your emotional ecosystem—your habits, your relationships, your routines? What needs to be renewed so that your inner fire doesn’t burn you out?

With many orbiting celestial bodies at the very early degrees of new astrological houses the skies are loudly announcing a huge global new beginning.  As above, so below.  We’re being granted access to powerful initiatory energy.  Issues of social injustice and exclusion are being illuminated. The new Cosmic Order demands inclusion of everyone’s needs and the shadows of ‘exclusion’ will be grossly evident.  The injustices of the “I am” self are protesting loudly.  Evolving beyond this sense of being ‘cut-off’, separated, excluded is essential.

The cosmos is in a season of review. Retrogrades abound with Mercury retrograde in Leo shifting our thinking on identity and self-expression Saturn and Neptune retrograde in Aries, bringing a strong message. Pluto retrograde in Aquarius and the Lunar Nodes retrograding through Pisces–Virgo (with north node in Pisces; south node in Virgo). Even as retrogrades often feel like rewinds, here they serve as conduits: letting us revisit emotional patterns and spiritual longings while providing structural insight to transform them.

Pluto retrograde in Aquarius forms an opposition to both Sun and Moon, amplifying the transformative currents between individual power and state power.  This opposition activates deep excavations: unconscious patterns bubble up just as we seek to plant new seeds. The lesson here is not to resist transformation, but to feel it—witness the fears that emerge, track the power dynamics within, and let deeper truths surface and realign.

What is Pluto transforming and evolving in you? How are you allowing the more powerful consciousness of the Universe to elevate you? Are you allowing the inner transformation? We can tantrum in resistance to the nature of the shifts or we can surrender and allow ourselves to evolve into a higher version of ourselves.  Be brave, be strong.  This is part of what each of us is here to embody.  Even though there are challenges and disconnect don’t lose the fire or desire.  To evolve, we must first face what we’d rather avoid. The New Moon s not a finale, but a pause in a larger unfoldment. The trigger point for the breakthrough is through your more expansive, future self. (Uranus in Gemini).

Meanwhile, Saturn and Neptune, both retrograde in Aries are conjoined, creating a supportive trine to the luminaries. These Cosmic Elders are guiding a new trajectory amidst a calming energy allowing stabilising frequencies to be accessed and created.  It’s a welcome slow down, enabling an honouring of what is unfolding and allowing the inner alignment with who you came here to be.  Can we allow ourselves to let go and trust in our Higher Selves? To be inspired by what truly lights us up?

Add to this Venus in Gemini squaring Mars in Virgo, and a cluster of retrogrades in outer and communicative planets, and we have an astrological crossroads that’s equal parts reckoning and rebirth.  There is support here for the new developments that need to happen. We’re being deeply re-wired with new sparks of potential from a deeper remembrance of who we truly are.  No longer acting in ways designed to coerce and manipulate the flow of love but showing up as our fully authentic self with no apology.

Uranus in Gemini is instigating new experiences, especially changes in how we live our daily lives.  New codes are coming through, giving us an empowered sense of Self.  We’re remembering our original brilliance.  We’re coming into a higher alignment with our own higher intelligence.

Venus in Gemini is squaring Mars in Virgo. Venus desires curiosity, connection, and play. Mars in Virgo brings precision, routine, and a need for practical action.  Focus on getting the daily details right especially where linked to building community. Parts of our mental selves are trying to solve something attempting to map out the path ahead. There are lots of questions and seemingly few answers. The mind may not know the solution but your soul does.  Trust the sunlit path within and choose from there.  You’re meant to be laying to rest the parts that are not your true self.  Allow yourself some grace and self-forgiveness.

This square suggests internal tension: heart versus plan, spontaneity against efficiency. Against the backdrop of the New Moon, the question becomes: how do we integrate curiosity and practicality? Perhaps it’s not about choosing one but choosing context. Maybe some parts of our life need Gemini’s dance, while others need Virgo’s method.

Ultimately the winner in this celestial mind game is North Node in Pisces, which asks you to choose the time line of your destiny.  Pisces loves the choosing of the highest good for all. Venus needs to talk it out and express it. Uranus will escalate that potential and keep the surprising solutions coming.

At a time when planetary retrospection is dense, the New Moon becomes a moment of ‘rewriting from within’. Layers of past conversations, emotional wounds, and value shifts converge. The nodes’ position further emphasizes a karmic relocation of story—moving from 3D detail to a greater comprehension of our Spiritual ascension. The New Moon invites recalibration in how we show up in culture: how do we embody these broader shifts?  How do we balance the needs of individual power versus state power? Our personal sovereignty and integrity are under revision. How do we dream of change and hold the walls that heartbreak doesn’t collapse?

Retrograde season also suggests a return to roots. Pick one routine—sleep, hydration, food—and recommit, asking what nourishes your inner self.

Rather than a fiery Leo rebirth this is a Cancerian gathering of emotional sustenance. A time to unearth, prepare, and plant what longs to grow.  The leavening of Leo expresses through quiet courage—speaking up when small, anchoring when fleeting, tending when unseen.

We stand at a moment dense with hidden material—Pluto dredging, Saturn–Neptune steadying, Mercury reminding us that words matter even when unspoken. In this landscape we plant seeds for belonging, peace, and inner integrity.

Uranus is forcing us all into the present moment. Tune into your psychic sensitivity. With supportive trines and deep oppositions, the intention is less about fireworks than sheltering the spark. Let small moments hold weight. Let both tears and intentional silence sanctify your emotional ground. Let words simmer. Let imaginations unfold. And let you, tender and brave, begin again.  Wishing you all infinite new moon love and blessings.

Ritual of the Inner Flame

New Moon in Leo – July 24, 2025 – 19:10 GMT
A shamanic container for sovereignty, courage, and soul-rooted visibility

Begin within the window of the New Moon (±3 hours) or after sunset for a more lunar-somatic experience.

Intention: To reclaim and re-anchor your inner radiance as a sacred act of self-trust.
To confront and transmute fear of visibility, rejection, or self-betrayal.
To call in the courage to lead from heart and soul.

You Will Need:

  • A yellow, gold, or orange candle (representing the solar/lion heart)
  • A small mirror
  • A journal and pen
  • A bowl of saltwater (to purify and ground)
  • Sacred smudge or incense (e.g., copal or rosemary)
  • A printed or drawn image of a lion, sun, or your own name written boldly in gold or red ink

The Ritual:

1. Prepare the Space

  • Smudge your space, invoking the four directions.
  • Sit facing east. Light your candle and say:

“I honour the flame within me. I call in the wisdom of Leo—guardian of heart, courage, and creative truth. I step forward as the sovereign of my story.”

  • Place your mirror before you. Rest your hands on your heart.
  • Gaze into the bowl of saltwater and whisper three truths you’ve been avoiding.

Let Pluto’s opposition assist you. Say:

“I see what I have buried. I do not fear what I feel. I reclaim the power in my truth.”

  • Dip your fingers in the water and anoint your brow and throat.
  • Look into the mirror and breathe gently.
  • Ask: “What in me longs to shine, but fears being seen?” Name it aloud. Then say:

“I no longer seek permission to be myself. My light is sacred.”

  • You may see grief, joy, or resistance. Let them arise. Breathe with them.
  • In your journal, complete the following:
    • “If I weren’t afraid, I would…”
    • “I am here to create…”
    • “I honour my leadership by…”
    • “I call back the parts of me that were dimmed when…”
  • Close with a statement of power:
“I am the light I seek. I am the vessel of my becoming.”
  • Place your hands over your heart.
  • Visualise the fire of the sun not outside, but inside you—glowing from the chest outward.
  • Ask: “Where do I need to take bold, loving action next?”
  • Commit to one action this Leo lunar cycle that expresses your truth without apology.
  • Thank the directions, your guides, and your own courage.
  • Blow out the candle, but imagine the fire still glowing within you.
  • Leave the saltwater outside overnight to absorb residual energy, then return it to the earth the next day.

Optional Integration Practice (Days After the Ritual)

  • Dress in gold, red, or animal print at least once during the lunar cycle.
  • Share a truth you’ve never voiced—whether in words, art, or presence.
  • Work with your mirror daily for 1 minute: look in and say, “I see you. I love you. It’s your time to Lead.”

This ritual supports:

  • Pluto Opposite Sun/Moon: Facing internal power blocks and stepping into authentic sovereignty
  • Saturn–Neptune Trine: Bridging vision and structure, dream and action
  • Venus–Mars Square: Integrating love and will without bypassing conflict
  • Retrograde Influence: Turning inward to restore what was once surrendered or lost

So mote it be…..
