Scorpio New Moon November 20th 2025: Breaking the Spell, Awakening the Truth

On Thursday 20th November 2025 at 6:47am UK time, we welcome the dark moon in Scorpio at 28 degrees. The final new Moon before the Solstice gateway, at the end of the zodiac’s most transformational sign, brings with it an eerie quiet that feels anything but still. It is the silence before the wave, the pause before the plunge. Scorpio, unafraid to dive deep, invites us to surrender once again. With five planets in retrograde, an intense solar flare shaking Earth’s magnetic field, and a grand water trine glistening across the sky, the astrological waters arrive charged with wild electricity, blistering truth and an irrepressible pull toward evolution.

Scorpio New Moon November 20th 2025: Breaking the Spell, Awakening the Truth

Solar storms are not just cosmic fireworks. Last week, the Sun erupted with the strongest flare we’ve seen all year. The subsequent coronal mass ejection bombarded Earth with charged particles at 1,500 km/s, lighting up the skies in unexpected places across the globe. Auroras danced across Europe and North America, and our planet’s magnetic shield responded with a moderate-to-severe geomagnetic storm. If you’ve been feeling strange, electrified, or drained in equal measure, this may be why. Solar activity affects us, our ancestors knew this. The Sun is not just a giver of light, it is a living being in relationship with Earth. When it flares, something ancient stirs within us too.

The New Moon is conjunct the Sun and Mercury retrograde in a powerful stellium in the final degrees of Scorpio. Mercury, now cazimi, directly between the Earth and the Sun, is burning bright with revelations. When Mercury is cazimi, the messenger is purified. Clarity sharpens. Truths surface. Words become spells. But this time, the usual contemplative stillness of a Scorpio New Moon is radically disrupted by Uranus. The Moon, Sun and Mercury form an exact opposition to this planet of shock, awakening and upheaval. This isn’t gentle. It’s disruptive. It’s electric. It breaks things open that have needed breaking for far too long.

Scorpio rules the realm of hidden power, shared resources, buried trauma, taboo, sexuality, grief and deep regeneration. This lunation tears the veil off the illusions we’ve been clinging to. We cannot coast on surface truths anymore. With Uranus opposing this moon, suppressed material comes roaring to the surface. Expect the unexpected, both personally and collectively. Economic structures may tremble. Secrets long locked away could be thrust into the light. And within the personal realm, don’t be surprised if truths emerge that rearrange everything in the blink of an eye.

This configuration has the intensity of a pot ready to boil, no longer able to contain itself. That pressure is mental, psychic, emotional, and potentially alchemical. There is a lightning bolt of realisation encoded into this moon. The question is: are you brave enough to receive it?

And that’s the key to working with this Moon. It demands courage. Scorpio always does as it calls us into full presence. It offers an emotional reset, but not before we’ve honoured what has been. If you’ve been grappling with cycles that feel impossibly sticky and old. Patterns around addiction, avoidance, financial fear or intimacy it may finally be time to name them and let them dissolve. There is freedom here, but it is only found through truth.

Retrogrades thicken the energy around us. Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus are all moving backwards. Time bends. Reflection is the medicine. This is not a time to push forward. It is a time to cleanse, to wait for what is real to reveal itself. Pushing against the tide right now only exhausts us. The gift of so many retrogrades is a deep invitation to attune. To surrender. To know that stepping away from the noise can be the most productive thing we do.

Jupiter retrograding through Cancer reminds us to pull our dreams inward. How are you nourishing yourself? How are you showing up for your inner child? Are you tending your faith? Saturn retrograde in Pisces pulls us into deep waters of emotional responsibility. It asks us to commit to what truly matters, emotionally, spiritually, practically. Can we slow down and listen long enough to reconfigure the shape of our boundaries? Neptune, also retrograde in Pisces, strips away the fantasy and asks us to stay awake. No more spiritual bypassing. No more wishful thinking. Truth, again, is the bridge.

Uranus, freshly re-entered into Taurus and also retrograde, triggers earthquakes around values, money, security and the body. What used to hold you may no longer feel safe. Let it go. The new architecture is still scaffolding itself.

This week, with the Moon new in Scorpio and Uranus facing off in Taurus, we are being asked to get radically honest about what is no longer sustainable. And to find strength in the void.

The Sabian Symbol for this lunation at Scorpio 29 is “An Indian Woman Pleading to the Chief for the Lives of Her Children.” It evokes the archetype of the advocate, the one who stands at the threshold and demands mercy, protection, or justice, not just for herself, but for what she loves most. This moon carries that same fierceness. What are you willing to stand for now? What within you still deserves protecting, pleading for, advocating toward? This symbol asks us to listen to the deeper cries within us, the ones that might be muffled by pride or fear, and to make a choice from the soul. It is about emotional courage, deep intercession, and breaking the cycle of silence. There is nothing passive here. The feminine is strong. The plea is potent.

A transformational Moon, not just in theory, but in lived, felt, sometimes uncomfortable reality. The grand water trine between Mercury in Scorpio, Saturn in Pisces and Jupiter in Cancer offers grace amidst intensity. Emotion becomes a current of wisdom. Feeling becomes intelligence. If we let the waters move, they will show us the way. Water rules the realm of emotion, memory, imagination, and intuition. When the water signs are in harmony, we are invited to heal the past and soften the hardened places within us. This trine brings compassion and courage to the surface. The courage to sit with the uncomfortable, to hold space for what aches, and to truly listen to what our bodies and spirits have been whispering for far too long.

We are being asked to choose a different response this time.

If you are willing to feel the depth of your grief, your fear, your desire, and not flinch, this Moon can be a gateway. But don’t rush. With so many planets retrograde, and Mercury in particular re-entering Scorpio, we are being cosmically held in a container of reflection. It’s not the time to launch new projects or force resolutions. It’s the time to dream with your feet in the soil. To rewrite your story with your body. To listen, to feel, to prepare.

By the time the Moon begins to wax again, and Mercury moves forward later this month, you will have new clarity. But for now, let the dark hold you. Let Scorpio show you what must die in order for your real life to begin.

The Sabian Symbol reminds us: advocacy begins within. It is time to speak to your own inner Chief, the one who makes decisions on your behalf. Plead the case of your heart. Make your desires known. Ask yourself, lovingly but firmly: what am I no longer willing to sacrifice? And what is worth everything?

This New Moon in Scorpio is not here to keep things comfortable. It’s here to make things real. And real is where the healing begins.

You may feel the call to withdraw, to turn off the phone, to step out of the constant churn of input. Heed that call. Magic stirs in the silence. The shadow is pregnant with new light. And under this moon, you are allowed to begin again, from a place of inner truth.

We are not broken. The system is. We are not lost. The path is changing. We are not late. We are right on time.  Wishing you infinite new moon love and blessings

Scorpio New Moon Ritual: Sinking into the Waters of Regeneration

Preparation:
This ritual is best performed alone or in quiet company, in the evening or twilight hours of 20th or 21st November. You will need:

  • A bowl of clean, preferably natural spring water
  • A black or deep indigo candle
  • A small mirror
  • A sacred object to represent the depths (obsidian, seaweed, ammonite, bone, or shell)
  • Journal and pen
  • A comfortable, darkened space where you can sit with minimal distraction
  • Optional: a recording of ocean sounds or deep drumming

Opening the Directions:
Stand or sit in silence. Close your eyes. Feel the stillness settle around you.

Take three deep breaths, inhaling through the nose and out through the mouth.

Speak aloud or inwardly:

“I invite and honour the four sacred directions of East, South, West and North.

Above, I greet Grandmother Moon and the unseen.
Below, I give thanks to Pachamama, the ever-holding Earth.
And within, I open the doorway to my own soul.”

Call in your own guides, in your own way.

Scorpio Water Mirror Practice:

Place the mirror at the bottom of the bowl of water. Set your candle behind it, so the flame reflects in the water.

Gaze into the mirror through the water’s surface. Soften your focus. Let your breath deepen. Allow anything that rises to arise.

Let Scorpio speak to you now:
What truth do you fear?
What cycle is asking to die?
What secret is ready to be revealed, not to the world, but to yourself?

Speak aloud, slowly:

“Under this New Moon in Scorpio, I dive into the sacred waters of the unseen. I release the masks, the contracts, the cords no longer needed. I ask to see what has remained hidden. I honour the mystery. I honour the transformation. I honour the part of me that knows how to die and be reborn.”

Place your sacred object into the water. Let it sink. Let it hold the energy of what you are choosing to release.

Cazimi Whisper:

Take your journal. In stream-of-consciousness writing, answer:

  • What do I truly desire, beneath all the noise?
  • What am I afraid to admit I need?
  • What version of me is ready to rise from the ashes?

Then hold silence. Listen. Mercury, now cazimi, sits in the heart of the Sun. There is something being whispered to you from the fire in the dark.

If you hear it, write it down. If you don’t, bless the silence.

Water Anointing:
Dip your fingers in the water. Touch your forehead, your heart, your navel.

Say:

“With this water, I cleanse my thoughts.
With this water, I soften my heart.
With this water, I reclaim my power.”

Close the Directions:
Blow out your candle with reverence.

Thank the directions, one by one, in reverse order:

“Thank you North, West, South, East.
Thank you Above, Below, and Within.
The circle is closed, but never broken.
So be it.”

Optional integration:
Sleep with the bowl of water under your bed or beside you overnight. In the morning, pour it at the roots of a tree or into a natural water source with gratitude.

So mote it be….
