Judika Illes, the famous witch and successful writer, shares her thoughts, her visions for the modern movement of Witchcraft and a wonderful spell invoking Archangel Michael’s blessings to change your life.
Judika Illes: That’s not an easy question to answer, as I’m not sure there is a specific beginning point. The magical arts have always fascinated me, since early childhood. Although my mother was not a practitioner, she was aware of magic, its reality and power. She found it interesting and so would discuss it with me. My mother introduced me to the concept of magical practice, if not the actual practice itself.
Also, I was a very early reader and was permitted by my parents to read whatever I wanted. We had books devoted to esoterica and mystical topics in the home and I was just naturally drawn to them. Essentially I was born this way. That said, I can, however, pinpoint the moment when I shifted from being a dabbler into an authentic practitioner: the late 1980s, I was in my late twenties, and I had been advised by a physician that my then-spouse and I would never have children without medical assistance.
The medical solutions offered to us were totally unsatisfactory. I was sure— absolutely, unequivocally sure—that magical solutions existed and I went digging for them. Magic went from being just fun and fascinating into a concrete necessity. I think my experience is true for many people. You hit a crossroads in life—- some crisis, obstacle, or challenge—when the magical route stops being just scenic and interesting and becomes a life changer.
MRO: What was the main influence that led you to that path?
Judika Illes: My own major magical workings have consistently occurred in response to challenges within my own life. There was a scenario or situation that needed to be remedied or avoided. Goals needed to be achieved. I have had a somewhat turbulent life and those experiences have been the prime impetus for my magical path. But in terms of people who influenced me, there are many.
All the botanica and witch- shop proprietors who were kind to me in my youth, who didn’t chase me out of their shops or make me feel unwelcome. The individuals who taught me how to carve and dress candles. I read a ton of books about witchcraft and various magical arts: I can’t say there was one specific book or person. I know people always hope that you will say that such-and-such famous witch trained me, but that wasn’t my case:I learned from a lot of modest, very private, and completely brilliant people, who were generous with their knowledge and traditions.
MRO: Where does your inspiration come from?
Judika Illes: Where doesn’t it come from? From everywhere—- I leave myself open to inspiration. I read compulsively. I talk to strangers, in person and on-line. I try to learn something new every day. I am so blessed to know all kinds of brilliant, insightful, opinionated people. And then there’s music, dreams, visionary experiences, nature, the world of the spirits and the ancestors. There’s no lack of inspiration— the issue is always finding the time to turn inspiration into concrete reality.
MRO: As a successful author of many books on magic what is the next step?
Judika Illes: In addition to being an author of my own books, since spring 2016, I have been working for the venerable esoteric publisher Weiser Books in book development and editorial. I have a deep sentimental attachment to Weiser: it could be said that my own esoteric path began there. When I was a child, my sister attended art school not far from the old Samuel Weiser’s bookstore, back when there was a brick and mortar shop.
That’s where she bought my first tarot cards and esoteric books. So I’ve somewhat come full circle. I am enthusiastic and passionate about bringing more, better metaphysical books to press. Not only my own, but through my work with Weiser, I can help nurture other authors and projects, too.
MRO: Any hints for upcoming books that you are working on?
Judika Illes: I am currently editing the follow-up to The Weiser Book of Horror and the Occult, a compilation of classic esoteric fiction, which I’m very excited about. There will also be a new edition of the book currently known as Pure Magic. I’ve just seen the proposed new cover and it’s beautiful. Both of these will be out in 2016.
And I’m working on new material, too. I tend to work on several projects at once, at least until one really asserts itself and claims my attention. Too soon to give too many details, but I’m working on a couple of large books devoted to magic and ritual that will complement my previous encyclopedias. I am also working on some fiction. I’ve written fiction forever, but for myself, not for publication, as I am now, so this is a change for me.
MRO: What”s your opinion about the witchcraft community today?
Judika Illes: I am blessed to be a part of it. We should support one another, even if we don’t all believe the same things or are not the same kinds of witches. We are blessed to live in a time when such a thing as a “witchcraft community” can be discussed openly and we should be extremely vigilant of our rights.
I love the moon, the sea, spells cast at the shore or in the bath.
MRO: How do you envisage the evolution of witchcraft in the future?
Judika Illes: The response to that questions depends on whether I’m asked on a day I’m feeling optimistic or pessimistic. On a good day, I foresee that the magical renaissance that now exists will continue to evolve, expand, and grow. We are so blessed to live in this time: the Internet has allowed boundaries to fall away, so that more of us can communicate together, regardless of where we find ourselves on Earth.
Social media allows us to forge bonds and alliances with each other that distance and language would once have precluded. More wonderful discussions are being held; more knowledge is being shared; more fantastic books are being published.The possibilities for spiritual and magical growth are limitless. More people are discovering their own inner witch. At best, we will live in a time of increasing tolerance, where people are free to live and worship or venerate as they please. There are also days, however, when I watch the rapid spread of DAESH— the fundamentalist organization that the popular media has linked with the name of the beautiful goddess, Isis—and I become very discouraged.
I find it very upsetting that so many young people from around the world join them. On those days, I worry that what we in the Western witchcraft communities are currently experiencing is not a renaissance, but only a brief respite between witch hunts and persecution. It’s important for us to always be extremely vigilant of our rights and liberties. We should not be distracted by petty bickering and infighting within our community, but recognize our common needs and goals.
Follow the steps and invoke Archangel Michael to drive all evil away
I always hesitate to share spells because spell-casting is such an individual art. The spells that work for one person may not be right for another. It’s very easy to become discouraged when someone assures you a spell will definitely work, because it has for them, but then it doesn’t for you. It doesn’t mean that you have no talent for spell-casting or that spell-casting isn’t “real” or effective: it just means you have to continue your search for your own personal arsenal of spells.
My book, Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells, contains so many because of the incredible diversity of spell styles, ingredients, and goals. (The book is also known as The Element Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells— the only differences between the two are cover art and that one word “Element” in the title. “Element” refers to a publishing branch of HarperCollins; when another branch published an edition of the book, they omitted the word.)
For example, the spells I love reflect my intensely watery natal chart: I love the moon, the sea, spells cast at the shore or in the bath. I do a lot of cleansings incorporating sea salts and essential oils. But the spell that is my stand-by, the one cast most often, is one for protection that was taught to me years ago by a good friend.Variations of it are in several of my books.
The Archangel Michael’s Blessing and Protection Spell
I was in a scary situation, an abusive relationship, and she was frightened for me. A spell is a gift, intended to improve someone’s life. This one is an invocation of the archangel Michael that incorporates a verbal charm, accompanied by a visualization. The verbal component is the easy part. It can be said aloud or silently:
Incantation:
Michael to the right of me, Michael to the left of me, Michael before me, Michael behind me, Michael above me, Michael below me, Michael within me, Michael all around me Michael, with your flaming sword of cobalt blue, please protect me now (or today, tonight, whatever it is that you need)
The chant can end here or you can elaborate. If you have special needs or fears, tell Michael. You can also request protection for others. Be explicit. This can be adapted to your daily or even hourly needs. The more challenging aspect of this invocation is to envision yourself completely enveloped in a cobalt blue bubble. It’s initially easier to say than to do, although with experience it’s something you can do instantaneously.
Make sure the bubble goes all around you—- under your feet and over your head. Envision yourself within it, safe from all harm, spiritual, emotional, or physical. This invocation is my constant companion. It is also the spell or ritual, however you define it, that I am asked for most often. Virtually every week, someone on one of my Facebook pages sends me a message requesting that I repeat it for them.

Water and Moon Portals
I am going to present the significance of water to our ancestors, its association with the Moon and the Divine Mother and finally we are going to explore on how we can create a moon portal, a useful tool to explore the subconscious, previous and future experiences and a great aid to astral projection.
A short history on Water and the Moon Water was always strongly connected with the Divine Feminine, the Goddess, and one can easily see the significance it bore in ancient cultures as the giver and sustainer of life. We can observe in nature that the tides follow the patterns of the Moon, the menstruation cycle ‘usually’ follows the same pattern. The Moon causes great changes in the body of water which covers today 2/3 of the planet, interestingly more than 70% of our bodies is water and the modern scientific tools can only assist us see the resemblance. It also affects the tides, the movement and the reproduction of all aquatic inhabitants and astrology has identified it as an important influence of our emotions- many people feel the influence of the Moon in their mood during its various phases: eclipses, Solstices and Equinoxes. It is important to understand the connection we bear with this beautiful satellite that has influenced poets and singers, lovers and dreamers alike.
Gods, Goddesses and the Moon Portals
Many Lunar Goddesses were associated with the element of water such as Isis, Selene, Yemaya, Danu and it was common practice to honour these Goddesses by leaving offerings at the sea, rivers and lakes. Anyone who has witnessed the energy of a big waterfall or the turbulent sea during a storm can easily recognise the influence that water has in all of us. History is full with beautiful tales about water that ignite our imagination and bring forward our magical aspects. Many myths depict water from various wells and streams as holy, bearing magical properties usually guarded by nymphs and natural spirits. Wells especially were considered the wombs of mother Earth.
A lot of spells include water as one of the vital ingredients, sea foam, rain water, morning dew are only some other forms of H2O which are respected and bring extra power to spells and rituals. At the same time, I want to remind you that water was also seen as the portal to other worlds. Many cultures such as the Greeks and the Vikings to name a few, believed that Death was a boatman delivering the souls of the departed to the Otherworld. In addition, many cultures believed that water spirits could be dangerous or benevolent, that they bore witness to the creation of the world and they were keepers of secrets holding the keys for passage to other worlds.
From Ancient Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Druids and modern Witches the Moon, the radiant Goddess in the skies, has been loved and inspired us all with its simple yet extraordinary beauty.
The Moon has fired the imagination and many believe that the Moon has a face, or resembles a hare. Gypsies used to say that journeys at night when the Moon was at its glory were less tiring as you could feel yourself floating. Some also have mentioned that whichever way you see the moon over a body of water the reflection always creates a luminous way over the waters, a magical path for you to reach the Moon.
It is still during the night that our imagination escapes, we go out and enjoy drinks with our friends, we come in contact with our subconscious through dreams, we can leave our body and astrally project to other planes of existence, we practice magic, sing and dance. Of course there are a lot of people who have completely different schedules from above, but still the night fascinates us and Moon, the radiant ruler of the skies, brings us closer to our dreams.
I hope that this brief discussion has sparkled your imagination too! And now as the Lady of the Lake of Avalon gave Excalibur to Arthur from the depths of the lake, I want to share with you a useful and creative suggestion on how you can make your own Moon Portal.
Creating a Moon Portal
Moon portals were used by witches in order to assist with their divination training, for astral projection, for meditation on the Moon and to help them explore their dreams. The concept of the Moon portal can easily be seen in the Rider-Waite tarot card ‘The Moon’. You will only need to use colourful pens and a piece of paper to create your own Moon Portal which can decorate your altar or your wall and put it into practise before you go to bed.
So let’s start! We start from the bottom of the paper where you need to create a body of water, this can be a sea or a lake. Water will be our path and where our journey begins for our souls to fly. Above the water you need to create the Moon which should be at the center of the paper. A full Moon circle is ideal and this is going to be the focal point during your meditation. Once the Moon is placed, create a luminous way from the water to the Moon. Some strokes of white pencil over the blue water is ideal. Finally, you need to create two pillars between the Moon as your entrance. The left pillar represents the subconscious mind and should be dark- preferably black. The right pillar should be white representing the conscious mind.
How to use the Moon Portal
Moon Portals were traditionally used at night and can be used as an alternative for nights where the Moon cannot be seen. I personally use it every time before I go to bed as it is practical and gives me a good night’s sleep with lots of travels and meaningful dreams.
I use the following process: I light a candle behind me in a dark room, this allows light to illuminate the portal but not draw your attention. Then fix your eyes on the Moon disc between the two pillars. Imagine that you are watching the Moon rising next to a sea shore or lake between the two pillars. Relax your breath and set your intention: ‘I want to astrally project this night.’ or ‘Mother Moon send me dreams of my future.’ etc.
Then, clear your mind and imagine yourself getting drawn to the Moon, a magnetic pull that calls your whole existence like a mother that opens her arms to her child to give them a loving and soul warming hug. Feel the pull, feel the Moon calling you, feel the Moon embracing you with unconditional love, feel you are a family and you are going on a journey. Now start imagining yourself floating above the waters, on the luminous path that she has created for you, you are drifting closer, every step a blessing, floating, relaxed and happy as if you were going back home.
Let your imagination guide you in this journey, let it express itself without any expectations. When you feel ready blow out the candle and go to bed. If you are intending to astrally project, relax your body and at a deep relaxation mode use the same visualisation to assist you in the process.

Dear readers, In many parts of the world we can see references to the Evil Eye such as Egypt, Syria, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Latin America and Israel to name a few. In this article, we are going to see what exactly is the evil eye, how to protect from it, how you can detect it if you or another has been under its influence, and how you can cure it.
What is the Evil Eye?
In many magical/pagan/folkloric/religious practices we can see the common belief that the mind/energy/intention/feelings/aura of one person can influence another in positive or negative ways. Old witches, shamans and healers knew very well that the most common senses human beings use are sight and hearing (extending it to sound and voice). Smell, taste and touch usually play an equally important role in our everyday lives however, when it comes to interaction with others these senses play a secondary role.
It was very common and still is for many magical practitioners in training to obstruct vision or sound as a means of isolating from the external environment and sharpening the remaining senses including psychic senses and ExtraSensory Perception (ESP). This has also been observed in people who have lost one of their senses, all the other senses become stronger and sharper to compensate for this loss and assist in survival of the individual. In many tribes, blind witches were considered great seers able to see above and beyond the material world and were respected and taken care from others as they provided an unparalleled service to the community.
It is not surprising that the manifestation and transmission of energy follow the routes we trust and use more: our eyes and our mouths. The Evil Eye stemmed from the belief that a gaze is enough to pass a negative load of energy from one person to the other. This can easily extend to the environment including objects and other living organisms. Now by the term negative energy I do not only mean a malevolent gaze but also jealousy, extreme admiration, self-pity or desire of having/owning. In addition, the Evil Eye can be cast intentionally or unintentionally, meaning that the person who passes the Evil Eye may not be aware of this exchange of energy.
From a psychological/sociological perspective human beings always compete with each other, thinking that the one who owns most is the winner of life and in this manner they can attain happiness. This is easy to identify simply by observing or asking random people around you what is their perception on money and belongings. Everybody has a story to share about how another has tricked them or quarrelled with them over money- most countries declare war over resources and most major crimes in the world happen over control of resources (monetary, sexual, territorial etc) as well rape, theft, murder, human trafficking, gang violence, drug wars to name a few.
The same happens with companies that compete with each other over control of market shares. As you can see the list is endless. Therefore, a change of notion is vital. After thinking about all of the above, we can all see that the Evil Eye is only the tip of the iceberg, however, it is equally important to take care of ourselves and the energy we receive and transmit in our daily life in our interactions with others. By changing ourselves we change the world!
How to prevent being affected from the Evil Eye?
Now going back to old practices, young children and pregnant women were considered more prone to the effects of the Evil Eye however, everybody can be affected. In the case of the Evil Eye prevention is better than cure and many cultures used talismans, amulets, symbols, inscriptions, prayers and stones to prevent a person from being inflicted by the Evil Eye. These amulets are called apotropaic (from the Greek verb ‘αποτρέπω’: to prevent/ to ward off) and as mentioned they were used to ward off the effects of the Evil Eye.
Please note that the amulets listed below are indicative, however you can take ideas on how to create your own amulet to ward of negativity and the Evil Eye.
Blue colour:
Wearing blue is said to counteract the effects of the Evil Eye. In addition, most amulets and stones which protect from the Evil Eye are also blue.
The Hamsa Hand:
The Hamsa hand, hamsa or Hand of Fatima (in Islam) or Hand of Myriam (in Judaism) is an amulet which depicts an open palm with an Eye in the middle of the palm. The amulet is usually blue in colour decorated with ornaments and blue beads. The Hamsa hand is very popular in the Middle East and North Africa and can be used in many ways.
You can wear it as an amulet for strength, vigour and protection from the Evil Eye and negativity. You can place it at the front of your house above or next to the door to ward off negativity and the Evil Eye. Place it on the newborn or at a visible location where the baby is and visitors come and see it (traditionally above the cradle of the baby). A separate article on the meaning of the Hamsa hand is on its way.
The ‘Eye’:
This is a simplified version of the Hamsa hand which in this case the amulet is just a blue eye bead without the hand. This simplified version is equally effective and used as mentioned above. The ‘Eye’ is popular in Greece, Italy and Turkey for the same reasons.

One of my favourite Italian amulets of all times. The Cimaruta is a piece of jewellery traditionally made with silver which depicts a stem of rue with 5 branches. A ‘strega’ (italian witch) will choose 5 symbols for each branch with most usual being the moon, a vervain blossom, a torch, a wand or a sword, a key, a heart, a rose blossom, an owl etc.
The cimaruta was highly personal and represented the qualities that the witch wanted in her life. It has many uses and one of them is to ward off the Evil Eye (Malocchio: the Evil Eye in Italian). Again, a detailed article will come soon giving more information if you are interested.
Again this amulet comes from Italy and literally means small horn. In recent times, I have seen this amulet being used very frequently in many pieces of jewellery however I have found most wearers unaware of its use. Wear the cornicello for vigour, good health and protection from the Evil Eye.
The Sign of the Horns (hand gesture):
This hand gesture usually shows the hand in a fist with the small and index finger raised in the air. This hand gesture is very popular in many rock and metal singers and unfortunately, in the modern era it has been associated with the Devil and Demons.
For Wiccans, this is the sign of the Horned God (Cernunnos/Pan) and it has been used for a long time (probably before it has been used by the Western world) as a sign to ward off sickness, negativity and malevolent spirits. Use this hand gesture to prevent the Evil Eye, not sure though how awkward the other person will feel if you do it in their face 😛
In many cultures, when extreme admiration is showed over a person or owner, it is very common to spit in the air to avoid casting/receiving the Evil Eye. In addition, water that flows can also prevent getting affected by the Evil Eye.
Used mainly by Christians decorated with an eye at the center (or not) is used to ward off the Evil Eye. In additions, specific psalms from the Bible can be used as blessings to prevent from the Evil Eye.
Garlic:
In Greece it is common belief that garlic can prevent the Evil Eye. Usually combined with a blue eye amulet it is used to bring good luck and ward off negativity and is used as a gift for new businesses and ventures to ensure success and minimise obstacles.
As you understand this list is endless and many of these amulets are focusing on the concept that like attracts like, the use of holy symbols for protection and that positive energy for vigour and strength can help counteract the Evil Eye. Pick and choose whatever works for you!
How to detect the Evil Eye?
First of all let’s have a look at the signs of a person affected by the Evil Eye. I have created a table for quick reference:

There are various ways on how to detect the presence of Evil eye but I am going to present three of my favourites.
Water and Oil:
This is a very easy and quick way to detect if you are affected by the Evil Eye. To begin with regarding which oil to use I have seen it work with sunflower and olive oil so I cannot guarantee about the use of other oils. However feel free to try it and let me know the results.
Ingredients: -A glass or small bowl filled with water -Oil (sunflower or olive oil)
You place the bowl of water in front of you. Using your middle finger you put some oil and then you drip one drop of oil in the water. If the oil sinks (usually oil is floating in water) or disperses in the water then you are affected by the Evil Eye. I assume this technique is based on the fact that the Evil Eye affects body magnetism and this is also passed to the oil drop. You can also use this technique to detect if another person is affected by the Evil Eye. They simply have to be the ones who touch the oil and drip the drop in the water. After this practice took place blessings and Evil Eye banishing incantations were recited to remove the Evil Eye from the person. The water and oil were used to represent the Evil Eye and then were thrown away typically flushed in the toilet, in a body of water i.e. river or the sea or thrown on the ground away from the residence the Evil Eye removal took place.
This method is usually used to detect the person that the Evil Eye came from. However, it is a bit tricky and I will explain why. Most people when they know the source of the Evil Eye (if not apparent to them in the first place) they will blame the other for their misfortune and accuse them for intentional malice- please do not use magic to reinforce a blaming culture I ensure you this will make matters worse one way or another. This is definitely not the case and if you think that you are going to react in such a way then please avoid this technique.
The best course of action when identifying where the Evil Eye came from is to forgive the person and wear a protective amulet next time you meet with them. As highlighted many times a lot of people cast the Evil Eye unintentionally. It is important to raise above the situation and be a source of kindness not reinforcing the problem.
With the above in mind here is the technique:
Ingredients: -9 dried clove buds (it can detect up to 8 people the 9th bud is usually used for all others) -a white candle -a needle (this is going to be placed in the naked flame while you hold it so make sure you don’t get burnt)
So the witch will sit opposite the afflicted- I have not witnessed this being used by the person afflicted for themselves, if unsure use the water and oil technique. The candle is lit and the witch speaks to the flame saying: Divine light, all that in front of you are exposed and true, show me the source that the Evil Eye came from.
Then a dried clove is pinched at the end of the needle, and the witch asks the person who they think the Evil Eye came from. A name is spoken and the witch then says:
Has (the name of the person who casted the Evil Eye- for simplicity this will be shown as :X) gave (the afflicted person’s name:Y) the Evil Eye?
The clove bud is placed in the naked flame. If it pops and makes a crushing sound then this is where it came from.
Then the witch says: ‘Divine Flame’ abolish the Evil Eye from (Y). Bless both X and Y so that they live in harmony. May X understands and stops casting the Evil Eye, may Y never be affected by the Evil Eye again.’
The process is repeated another 7 times (in total 8). As mentioned if the clove simply burns and doesn’t pop then blessings are sent to both the afflicted and the other person. The 9th bud is named as all others and the Blessing is more general for everybody else known or unknown. If no clove bud pops in the flame then the person is not afflicted by the Evil Eye.
As you understand most of the methods used to detect the Evil Eye are further expanded to cure it. Now let’s have a look at other techniques which they are intended only to cure the Evil Eye. Usually detection is not necessary if the witch is certain that the root of the problem comes from it.
How to remove the Evil Eye?
I have provided 3 different techniques for the Evil Eye removal especially in persisting cases where blessings and incantations work only partially. Please remember that each witch uses their own practices and are you will become more efficient the more you use them. One technique is not better than the other, so find the one that suits you best.
Personally, I would suggest the below techniques when the ones provided mainly for detection work partially and if the condition resurfaces even protective measures have taken place. All the techniques are based on the principle of sympathetic magic and the Law of Similarity- like attracts like, like cures like.
Lemon and nails:
This is one technique that my grandmother used for severe cases and I highly recommend it. This is suggested mainly for physical conditions.
Ingredients -A nice lemon -9 nails
You take the lemon which represents the Evil Eye in this case and the effect it has on the individual. You pass the lemon over the body of the afflicted person and you place it on the table. Then you take a nail and you push it in the lemon saying: Evil eye you are now blind. You will never affect again (the afflicted person’s name). You repeat 8 times in total and with the last nail you say: (The afflicted person’s name) is now cured from the Evil Eye. Spirit Divine I ask thee to protect your child, always to be blessed and always stay healthy and kind.
The lemon with the sticked nails is placed in a bag and then is buried away in a forest or field. When you bury it say: Evil Eye, Blind Eye, in Mother Earth you return. As you rot, you will never touch again (the afflicted person’s name). As you perish, only good and kindness blooms.
Charcoals and water:
This technique is mainly suggested for psychological/mental conditions due to the evil eye. For this technique you will need the following:
-A basin filled with fresh water -9 charcoals (charcoal discs used for incense will be fine)
You light all the charcoals in a fire resistant dish. When they are glowing red hot bring them close to the basin. You take one charcoal each time and you throw it in the water. When you hear the sound of the charcoal hits the water you say : Evil eye, your flame is now extinguished and gone. (Afflicted person’s name) is now healthy and bold.
You repeat that 8 times. At the 9th time you say: All the flames have been extinguished have been gone. (Name of the afflicted person) is now as it was before. May the Gods shine bright over their child never to be affected again by the Evil Sight.
Once finished you throw the charcoal and waters from the basin outside of the house. Usually saying something like: Gone, gone, gone! or Never return again!
Salt and fire:
This technique needs a fireplace or an open fire. If none of the two is available then please use the above techniques.
Ingredients -A handfull of salt (preferably rock salt) -An open fire
The witch passes the salt over the body of the afflicted person starting from the head down to the feet. Remember to have the salt in your fist closed all this time- if salt starts escaping this is not a good omen. You need to repeat or see if something else rather than the Evil Eye is in place.
After you finish passing the salt over the body you throw the salt in the fire. As the salts starts popping you say: Burst Evil Eye, burn and begone. Burnt and perished you will stay never affecting (The afflicted person’s name) again. Now (the afflicted person’s name) is healthy and bold.
A variation of this technique in India suggests mixing the salt with mustard seeds, I have never personally used it but feel free to try it and tell me the results.

How to meet and greet your totem Animal
Now that we have balanced our chakras it’s time to see how we can contact our totem animal. You may wonder how can I find out which is my Totem animal. According to this theory, we are already linked with this spirit. We actually do not have to do anything at all! Thus, the only thing we can do is pray upon the spirit to give us a sign, or to manifest via our dreams or in real life. Here is a spell you can try to help a Totem Animal manifest in your life. Circle the day of the Full Moon. You are going to do this spell the day prior to the Full Moon, the day of the Full Moon and the day right after the Full Moon. The only thing you are going to need is just some honey and milk! Honey is considered one of the most potent conjuring ingredients in magic while Milk is believed to connect us with the Source, the Great Earth Goddess, Gaia.

Hold the candle like a knife against your chest, with the wick “heading” towards you.
Start anointing the candle beginning from the middle of it and sliding your fingers towards the bottom leading away from you. Repeat.
After that, turn the candle around and anoint it from middle to top again leading away from you.

As we have seen, The Fool is the unexpressed power to create anything. He embodies all possibilities but express none. When The Fool decides what he wants to create he becomes The Magician. Therefore, the Magician holds the power and the determination to create what he wants.
The unlimited power of The Fool is now being focused by The Magician to bring forth a specific new reality, or a new creation. The Magician uses his spirit to command the four elements and to create what he wants. For that reason, I very much like the clear symbolism of the Rider-Waite Tarot, as The Magician holds a wand to command his will and another wand is on his altar to symbolise the Fire Element.
He decides what he wants, builds it in the spiritual plane, and brings it down to the material plane, just as his hands show. We find the same clarity of symbolism in The Alchemical Tarot, as well. Here, the four elements are represented both by their alchemical symbols and their natural form, while The Magician, Hermes, holds the all mighty Caduceus to command them to his will. According to my opinion, the might and purity of The Magician’s spirit is represented in the Rider Tarot by the colours of his clothes, while in the Alchemical Tarot, through his nudity (while the symbolism of red and white is present in the form of the flowers next to his feet).
When should we use the card of the Magician
So, we may use the card of The Magician to initiate a project, as he symbolises all starts, or to create what we want to create. Furthermore, we can use the card to empower a specific spiritual power of ours, or even acquire one, as, after all, he is The Magician.

How to use the card of The Magician in a simple spell to manifest a wish:
“Become” The Magician, if you want. Dress yourself in white and red, or be naked. Whatever makes you feel more pure and powerful will work the best.
Have a White and a Red candle and in between them the card of The Magician. You may anoint the candles with some Crown of Success oil. You may also have some Crown of Success incense burning. If you prefer you may use oil and incense chosen according to your specific wish.
Have a red square piece of cloth and a white piece of string. If it is possible, the length of the string should be your height, and the side of the square should be one of your lucky numbers. Your birthday number can be used.
Also, you will need one symbol of each element. You are going put them in the mojo bag you are making, so think accordingly. A feather for the Air, a stone or crystal for the Earth, some water or oil or a fish for the water, and a picture of fire, some of your blood or a picture of a salamander for the fire. Anything that you like and you trust will work for you, so be creative. After all you are The Magician.
Ignite the candles and light the incense, if you are using any. Clear your mind and focus on the manifestation of your wish. When you feel your wish has manifested in the spiritual plane, take the symbol of the Air and say:
“By the power of the Air, my wish becomes my reality”.
And put the symbol of the Air on the piece of cloth. Repeat the same procedure for the remaining three symbols. After putting all the symbols on the cloth, make it to a pouch and seal it by the string, making seven knots and saying for each knot:
“As I wished, so it came to be!”
Notice that the sentence is in past tense, meaning that you believe that your wish is already a reality.
That’s it. Let the pouch at the feet of The Magician until the candles burn completely and then take it and either keep it under your pillow, or with you.

We have read so many books and articles as we also watched numerous documentaries and movies on what Stonehenge really was when it was created. A Druid’s temple? An enormous relic from Atlantis? The Monument in Wiltshire is considered by some one of the most important constructions of the West Civilisation. April Fool’s Day may come to pass and most of us are vigilant not to get tricked and become the fool. But, I would dare to ask, what is so bad on being The Fool?
The April Fool’s day & its secret Symbolism!
There are symbols everywhere, hidden in plain sight. For example, Jack climbing the Beanstalk is actually The Fool! Think about it for a second. Jack’s impulsive ascent into the unknown sky parallels The Fool’s leap of faith, adventure, and carefree journey into new possibilities. Even what he wears is so similar!
The Fool is innocent and true to himself and his dreams. He doesn’t see anything as impossible and therefore he is able to turn the impossible into reality. Walking at the edge of the cliff, looking up to the sky, he is ready to fly. His friendly companion may bark to encourage him, or to warn him, but either way the divine spirit of The Fool can defy the material nature of the dog, and his beliefs can be proven more powerful than the laws of nature.
In his state, The Fool can become whoever and whatever he wishes, and can bring forth everything he desires. Detached from the material restrictions and truly free, he is able to make his decisions anew and therefore to create his world around him as he pleases.
The Magic of the Fool
The major arcana of the Tarot follows the journey of The Fool, from the very beginning, represented with The Mage, to the total divinity, represented by The World. The Fool is not exactly the beginning. He is the cause of the beginning and in that sense he is more perfect than The World and more primordial than The Mage, a Supreme God, one may say, as he is the one who holds the power of creation of everything and anything, but has not yet expressed himself.
In this series we are not going to analyse the prophetic meanings of the Tarot. We are going to use this most powerful tool in a magical way. We are using as reference the pictures of the Arthur E. Waite’s Rider Tarot, which is one of the most classical magical tarots. You don’t need to use this kind of deck. You can use one that you find more suitable for you, but the symbolisms may change from one tarot deck to another in a way that you will not be able to use the card to perform the spells we are providing you with. So, do act accordingly.
The most important thing is:
Never use the same tarot deck
for magic and for prophesy.
You can use one tarot deck for magic and one same for divination if you want, but they should be two separate decks. The rationale is to avoid creating unwanted results while trying to foresee the future.
Use The Fool to awaken your creative spiritual power by doing this simple spell.
Have a full-body picture of yourself and next to it the card of The Fool. Have a white candle lighten on top of them, and have the flame of the candle as the only light in the room. You may use some incense or incense sticks if you prefer.
“I am the creator of my world. Everything I want, I can create”.
Just that. Don’t try to create something. The purpose is to activate and realise your creative power, as well as to come in touch with the thoughts that limit your creative power, the barks of the dog, and then free yourself from these restrictions.
Repeat the procedure daily for one week and keep a journal of your experiences. After that, work on your restrictive thoughts and then repeat the procedure again. Do that as many times as you want.
While working with The Fool indulge yourself with some foolishness. Play funny and childish games, laugh with not so intellectual jokes, draw random lines on pieces of papers, and whatever you feel relevant. Challenge your limitation with respect.
April’s fools’ day presents you with a special opportunity to do so. Enjoy the day. Try to use this chance to laugh with others and not at them. Keep your farces innocent and harmless. When lying try not to overdo it as no one will believe you. The Spring Equinox is the time, the darkness of the Winter starts becoming the light of the Summer.
What we sowed during the Winter Solstice has started coming to fruition. The Air element is ruling, blowing away the clouds and bringing the changes we seek.
For all these to manifest – in a good way in our life – we need to re-establish our inner balance and to become light and agile as the Air itself. Here is a very simple way to achieve that. All you need is some of your time, one black candle, one white candle and some bay leaves, some charcoal to burn them, and if you want some bay oil to anoint yourself.
Getting ready for the spell:
If you are using the oil, anoint yourself. Then sit down, facing the eastern direction, the direction of the Spring Equinox. Have the incense burning in front of you, and have the two candles on your left and right side.
As about how to place them, well, there are some different opinions about that. For instance, the tarot’s High Priestess, the Moon, and sometimes the Hierophant, all have the black pillar on their right and the white on their left. This is a way to do it.
On the other hand, on your left would be the Winter (therefore the black candle) and on your right the Summer (and so, the white candle). Of course, if you live in the Southern hemisphere, North is the Summer and South is the Winter. In this case, the candles can be placed the other way around.
Most of us write from left to right. Therefore, the things we leave in the past are on our left side, where the black candle should be placed. If this is the symbolism you prefer, for those who write from right to left, the opposite placing would be more proper.
Finally, although the black candle in this ritual will represent mostly what holds us back, it also is something that exists in our lives and past. Some kind of roots, so to say. So, the black candle should be placed by our receiving hand. It’s the energy you receive in order to transform it to something you want. According to this, we’ll pave the the white one, representing what we are creating, by our projecting hand.
Choose your way according to what seems right for you. No matter how you place the candles, light firstly the black one, then the white one, and sit in between them.

Sometimes we have a habit, or a usual tendency to do something or act in a way that it is unwanted. And although we may want to stop this custom, the habitual power may seems to be too strong for us to overcome it. In such cases this simple candle ritual can help you achieve your goal more easily.
But please keep in mind a very important fact. If people around you tell you that this habit of yours is bad for you and you should stop it, but you don’t think so, or even you like this habit, not only this ritual won’t help you, but even more, you should not even try to stop the habit in anyway. Of course if you enjoy eating a cake per day and you are diabetic, your habit will obviously became lethal. Logic says that you should stop it. But even in such cases you firstly need to start wanting to stop the habit and then take care of stopping it. Otherwise you will just oppress the habit and that can be as dangerous as, or even more dangerous than, the habit itself.
Anyway, if you have a habit that YOU, not the people around you, but you yourself want to stop, here is what you can do to empower your will and determination and ease your path towards your freedom from it.
You will need:
Two white altar candles, or what you usually use as altar candles.
One black candle to symbolise the bad habit.
Four purple candles to symbolise your power to stop the habit.
Use some High John or Crown of Success incense to burn.
To dress the candles use High John or Crown of Success for the purple ones,
Banishing or Citronella for the black one, and either the same oil as for the purples for the altar candles or whatever you usually use to anoint your altar candles.
Now, make sure the purple candles are capable to burn for more time than the black one, approximately two times as much as the black one.
Now, anoint your altar candles as you usually do, and if you have no usual pattern anoint them from middle to top towards you and then from middle to bottom again towards you. (You will need to turn around the candle to do so)
Anoint the black candle from middle to top away from you and then from middle to bottom again away from you. While doing so, imagine that this candle is your bad habit.
Anoint the purple candles from middle to top towards you, and then from middle to bottom toward you, infusing them with your power to stop the unwanted habit.
Arrange your altar like this. P1, P2, P3, and P4 are the four purple candles and B is the black one.
Light your altar candles, the incense and invoke your deity.
Light the black candle saying:
“This is my bad habit of (state the habit), that I am now overcoming”.
Light the purple candles while saying:
“Here is my will and power to overcome my habit of (state the habit) and free myself of it.”
Then state:
“My habit of (state the habit) is under my power and I command it to leave me now and forever!”
Repeat this phrase as many times as you need to feel it.
Now sit down, relax and visualise your everyday life without the habit, and see how happier you are and how better your everyday life is now that you are free from this unwanted habit.
Keep the visualisation for about 5 minutes. Ten extinguish the black candle. Sit peacefully and watch the purple candles burning for about five more minutes. Then extinguish the purple candles and the altar candles.
Leave the altar as is. Let two days pass and on the third day repeat the ritual. Continue so every three days until you are satisfied with the outcome.
If when the black candle is finished you want to continue the ritual, let the purple candles burn completely and start with a new set of candles. If your altar candles are big enough you don’t need to change them but do not change the black candle without changing the purple ones as well.
On the other hand, if it is not possible to find purple candles that can burn at least twice as much as the black one, you can substitute them with new ones as needed, you just need to replace all four candles together. Before doing so let them burn completely.
Actually, if you want, and can afford it, you can use new purple candles for every ritual.
Either way, I would recommend anointing the candle every time you do the ritual, and not only once.
It is best to keep the program as is. If for some reason you forget to perform a ritual or you were unable to do so, do it the first day you can and keep counting from that day on.

All About Cascarilla Powder
Enough with introductions, Cascarilla (pronounced: ka-ska-ree-ya) powder comes from the Hoodoo traditionand the main and only ingredient is powdered eggshell, yes as simple as it sounds, it is a miraculous dust with outstanding performance when it comes to protection and cleansing. Cascarilla powder can be found in two main forms: white and brown powder. You can use the two forms interchangeably for the spells that I give you below.
Personally, I use the white powder as it is easier to make and the results have always amazed me.
White Cascarilla powder:
Gather eggs that you like.
Clean the eggshells and let them dry out (I leave the yolk and egg whites as an offering to the spirits that protect me – if you feel like it you can make a cake as an offering to them, the effort will not go wasted)
Put the dried eggshells in a mortar and pestle and grind them to fine powder (if you have a mixer that can achieve the same result feel free to use it)
Brown Cascarilla Powder:
Gather eggs that you like.
Clean the eggshells and lie them flat.
Toast the eggshells in the oven on low temperature until they turn brown (be careful when you handle them they are going to be warm).
As above- grind them to fine powered with either a mortar and pestle or a mixer that can achieve the same result: a fine powder.
How to use Cascarilla powder Ideas to make your life achieve a whole new level
Protecting your house
Take a pinch of Cascarilla powder. Ask the Divine/Spirit/ God(s) & Goddess(es) to bless this house with their radiant light, to bring peace and blessings to everyone who enjoys this roof. Blow the powder in the air. Repeat in all rooms-remember to do the same in blind spots: attics, basements etc.
For enhanced protection, sprinkle Cascarilla powder to the corners of each room that you can reach (there is no point moving around the whole wardrobe to sprinkle the powder unless you feel like hoovering as well).
Feel like doing some outdoors spell, then create a circle around your house with Cascarilla powder. This is one of the oldest known magical practices to protect the house! Remember, you will need a lot of powder 🙂
One of my personal favorites, at the centre of your house, draw your personal protective symbol with Cascarilla powder. Once ready create a circle with salt around the symbol and light 4 candles in each direction around the circle (tealights will work fine). Petition Spirit for protection either through prayer, visualisation or meditation. Intention makes miracles !!!
Protecting yourself and your loved ones
For personal protection, use the following ritual: For 7 mornings (or longer as needed) place some powder in your hands and powder your head from the face to the back of your head.
If extra protection is required, enhance the above practice with extra steps. Add some powder on each chakra both on the front and to the back of your body, seal the process by powdering the soles of your feet. Close your eyes and visualise a radiant egg-shape shield of Divine light covering your body and aura.
Put Cascarilla powder in a vial and carry it with you for protection. If additional protection is needed place some powder on your palms, clap! and gently powder your face and the back of your head (similar to step 1).
Feel like protecting your family and your loved ones? Place a picture of yourself and loved ones and form a circle around the photograph with Cascarilla powder. Place a tea light at each direction and petition Spirit to protect you and your loved ones.
Would you like to empower your talismans and amulets with the essence of protection? Take a pinch of Cascarilla powder and blow it (while stating your intention in your mind) to the object. Alternatively, spindle Cascarilla powder to the object while stating your intention out loud.
Breaking bad luck and bringing room for growth
Feel like giving your house a good wash, then let the inner witch make it shine! Create a magical floor wash, add boiling water on peppermint leaves and let them sit for 5-10’. Take the warm water and add it in a bucket, place tea oil drops , salt and Cascarilla powder. (Personally, I add 13 tea oil drops, 13 spoons of Salt and 3 spoons of Cascarilla powder- please remember to use your intuition, have trust in yourself and don’t be afraid that you will mess up. If you don’t trust yourself, remember that another fellow witch in this world smiles at you and trusts your miraculous abilities). This recipe will cleanse and protect your house. In ancient times the greens that were brought home to bless the house and its occupants during the winter solstice were surrendered in the ritual fires of Imbolc to honour the Sun God and light the sacred flames of the ceremony.
A beautiful sun incense was created to uplift the spirits and bless the inner and outer fires that burn and enlighten the Self and the Cosmos.
The actual recipe is brought to you from ancient practices and it is dedicated to enlighten your year. The herbs/plants that you are suggested to use are: bay leaves, angelica, myrrh and basil.Top it up with some red pepper, carnation flowers and orange peels to create that feel that will take your ritual to the next level. Heather and tansy can also be used to bring good luck, protection and longevity.
The recipe for the Imbolc which I suggest is:
21 laurel leaves 10 grams of Myrrh 6-7 branches of basil 3 pinches of angelica powder 3 carnation flowers (red or white) Red pepper powder (moderate amount you don't want to sneeze all day) Few orange peels for a rejuvenating aroma

One of the most common tools of the craft – far more common and worldwide than the knife, the wand, the cup and the disk – is the magic ring or the rings of power.
The Lore of Magic Ring(s)
J. R. R. Tolkien describes them quite accurately in his books, although, of course, in a way more dramatic than reality for the sake of the stories. For example Tolkien says that the magic ring changes size, which is somewhat true, at least concerning the feeling it gives. He also says that it becomes heavier when it is overwhelmed by energy and power, as it happens when Frodo is in Mordor.
This is also a feeling that the magic ring gives. I suppose that if we put them on a scale the weight will be the same, but it feels heavier when wearing it or holding it. He also describes the ring to be addictive, which is also true, so be careful. Not only the user finds it more and more precious and is less willing to give it away, but also the user may start thinking that all his or her power is generated by the ring. This is also one real aspect of the addictive power of the magic rings. In the story, in the case of Frodo, all the power that was given to Frodo was indeed generated by the One Ring, but in the case of Lady Galadriel this was not true, as Galadriel, and her magic power, are more ancient than the rings, the humans, the elves and Sauron himself, but Galadriel comes to think that when the One Ring will be destroyed, then the power of her own ring will also cease to exist as it is bound to the One Ring (which is true in the story) and therefore her own power will cease to exist, which is only an illusion, as her power was not generated by the ring she wears. Also, Tolkien describes the rings, especially the One Ring, to have a will of their own, which in some cases can also be true. Finally, Tolkien states that the rings prolong the life of the owner – with the One Ring making his owner practically immortal – which is also a common belief, although I cannot say if this is actually true or not.
Real Magic Ring(s)
So knowing the dangers of this instrument of magic, one may still decide to make one.
Here I am going to give you a simplified way to create a magic ring, or a ring of power. The way I am offering is very similar to creating a ring talisman.
First of all decide what this ring’s power will be.
Then you must decide where you are going to wear it. In general terms, if its purpose is to bring a blessing of any kind in you, you should wear it in your receiving hand, which is most probably the weaker one.
If you want this ring to help you express a power or quality, you should wear it in the projective hand, which is most usually the strongest hand. For example, if you want a ring that keeps your health and vitality in good condition you’ll be wearing the ring in the receiving hand, but if you want the ring to empower your healing powers, for you to be able to heal others (and yourself) you should be wearing the ring in the projective hand.
Then it is the finger one ring should be put. The most common fingers are the index and the ring finger. And this is quite understandable, as you will find out right away.
Planetary speaking, the thumb holds and expresses the power of Venus.
The index holds and expresses the power of Jupiter, the middle the power of Saturn,
the ring finger the power of Sun
and the pinky or little finger the power of Mercury.
Mars and Moon don’t have their fingers, so if you want to make a magic ring under their power you should wear it in a compatible finger to the purpose of the ring.
Creating a Magic Ring
Then you should find or create a ring that feels right to you for the purpose. I believe that if the symbolism is strong enough in your mind and soul, this is a perfect ring for you, but if you want to create a ring under stricter magical rules, create a magic ring made from the metal of the planet with a stone of the planet on it.

Do not write a curse on the ring as Sauron did, but you can inscribe a spell on it or just the power this ring brings to you or helps you express.
Charging the Magic Ring
Now buy one, two, three, four, five, six, eight, or nine candles representing the power you are summoning in the ring. Also buy 8 red candles which will represent the magic power. Make a circle putting the eight red candles on the 8 directions; those are East, Southeast, South etc.
Inside the circle put the candles representing the power you are summoning. If you use one candle put it in the centre of the circle and the ring at its base, if you are using more, put them in a diameter, a triangle, etc, with the ring in the centre of the circle.
Use frankincense for incense or a combination of frankincense and myrrh, and preferably anoint all the candles and the ring with the same oil. If possible, anoint the ring with your zodiac oil as well, and/or an oil representing its power.
Light the eight red candles starting from the eastern one and forming a clockwise circle saying: “From the eight corners of the Earth I summon hear the magic power to come here and enter in this ring of mine and make it a magic ring.”
Now light the candles of the power you are filling the ring with saying: “I summon (the power of the ring) to come here and enter this ring, and transform it to a magic tool that (say what the ring will be doing for you)”.
Now, sit down and visualise the magic power and the power of the ring coming there inside the circle and entering the ring, filling it and staying in it. Keep the visualisation for as long as possible, without feeling tired.
Let the candles completely burn down. While the candles still burning repeat the visualisation as often as you can.
When the candles are finished, the ring is ready. Wear it for at least seven days all day long and then always keep it near you, in your pocket, in your handbag etc. Don’t let anybody to touch the ring while you are not wearing it. When you want to use its power, wear the ring, rub it, and tell it what you want it to do.

Most of us have seen a natural, or artificial fir decorated with lights and colourful ornaments, in order to celebrate Christmas, or the New Year. And this tradition is older and more worldwide than Christianity.
In many countries, a specific, or not, kind of tree was decorated, in order to honour nature, the spirits, or the Gods. Gifts were placed on its base, as offerings, while, in most cases, wishes were hanged on its branches, for them to come true. In most cases, this is a practise to celebrate the beginning of the year, or a special, or sacred day, or period.
The ancient Greeks would do so near the Winter Solstice to honour Zeus, or the Sun God. Later, Romans would adopt the custom to honour Janus, the God that actually gave his name to January.
Of course, it is not only this period of the year that this custom takes place. In Japan, the Tanabata festivities use the same practise to honour the meeting of two divine lovers (or two stars, if you prefer). The Tanabata festival takes place during summer. In some northern European countries, it was a custom to celebrate Beltane and the resurrection, not of the Sun, but of the Nature.
In some cases, when trees are not very common, the custom takes place even without them. We can find one such example in the celebration of the New Year in Tibet.
In any case, if you intend to use a tree, use a green tree or a sacred one at least.
Understanding the magic behind the custom:
Now, let us decode this custom. In magical terms what is practised, in all these cases around the world and during all eras, is the creation of simple wind talismans.
The trees are symbols of the spirits, or Deities to be honoured, or even just the mediums to ascent our wishes from the material world to the spiritual, or divine one.
The gifts offered at their roots are symbols of our thanks-giving to the ones from whom we expect to fulfil our wishes. Finally, the decorations are the actual talismans carrying our wishes. So, let’s see some simple ways to employ the wind talismans for our benefit.
How to make and use your own Wind Talismans:
Write on a piece of paper, or cloth your wish and hang it. Use natural clothes, such as cotton and wool. Make a knot talisman for your wish and hang it. Or if you are skilful make some ceramic balls or plates and write your wishes on them, and then hang them. Other than those, use your imagination and creativity. By expressing yourself and your own believes, you will honour your Gods better.
The key factor is that the talisman should be able to decay due to rain, wind, and Sun light. This is necessary, for as it decays, the wish is carried to the Universe, in order to be fulfilled. Therefore, do not use metal, glass, or plastic. If you want your wish to be fulfilled during this lifetime, that is.
It is true that in some cases, it is the ink to be used that caries the wish. In those cases, the ink is what should be able to vanish, and not the actual talisman. But, this is a practise more common for water based talismans, rather than for wind talismans.
Now, leave the talismans on the tree until they will be sufficiently destroyed, if you use a tree in your yard. If you use a tree in the woods, then simply leave them there and go.
While offering your gifts, give your thanks to the tree (and the Deities). Then, while hanging your talismans, say a prayer for the fulfilment of your wishes. After that, trust the gift offering tree to make them true.
When to use the Wind Talismans and the Gift Giving Trees:
Of course, you can do something like this in any time of the year. But, the power of Yule in making our wishes come true is extraordinary. Therefore, even someone really inexperienced in magic can make it happen.
So, have fun, have a blessed Yule, and an even more blessed New Year!
This is a very simple and potent spell that can help you burn away all your troubles, the inner ones and otherwise. But in the same time it is quite… inconvenient in some aspects. Then again, sometimes, some small sacrifices worth the cause. Let’s get this clarified…
Getting ready for the ritual:
So, buy a new very very cheap piece of underwear, preferably the one covering your genitals. Any colour and shape will do, but avoid black and very tiny ones, not for magical reasons but for practical ones. Keep on reading and you will understand. If you have an old one that you want to get rid of, that will work even better.
Wear this underwear for at least three consecutive days and don’t, I say do not, try to keep it clean from your body’s excretions. Sweat, piss, seminal fluids, menstrual blood, and the likes is good to stain the undergarment. In fact, the more the merrier. This is obviously one of the inconveniences this spell has.
The Ritual:
Part One – Burning away your troubles:
Now, on the fourth day, still wearing this, hopefully filthy piece of underwear, light a fire somewhere. Obviously take all fire-safety measures. If you have a fire place in your house that will do perfectly, otherwise you need to do it outdoors. If you want, throw some peppermint, spearmint and eucalyptus on the fire, to even more empower the spell, as they have some wonderful banishing, cleansing and healing properties.
Take off your clothes except of the undergarment, unless you are using your entire outfit for the spell. You can do so if you can afford it.
Summon the banishing, purifying and healing properties of the fire. Summon the fire Gods and divine spirits you believe in and trust into the fire, asking them to give to itthe power to burn away your troubles and heal you and your life from them.
If you don’t know how to do so, you can use the mantra “Ram” first to awaken the divine fire into your fire and then the mantra “Hum” to give the banishing, purifying and healing properties into your fire. Repeat 108 times each mantra facing the fire.
Now, at long last, take off this filthy piece of underwear. Using a black marker (that’s why black coloured underwears are not suitable) write on the underwear all your worries. If some of them are caused by some specific other persons, don’t write the persons. Write only the problems that bother you. Obviously, if you have many troubles you will need more space, and that is why a small undergarment won’t do. Let yourself to be expressed truthfully and freely. If you need to write a problem more than once, do so.
When you have finished writing your problems, take a good look of this filthy underwear and the filthy situations it describes and symbolises and throw it into the fire.
Stand up, looking down your burning undergarment and talk to it. Say to it:
“As you burn, so my problems do. As you vanquish into the flames so do all my troubles.”
Repeat this phrase as many times as you want.
Now, if you have used your fire place at home, go take a quick shower and come back, still naked. If you are in a beach and you can do so, you can go for a quick dive in the sea and come back. At the very least, have some bottles of water with you and wash yourself, at least symbolically, off of your troubles.
It is better if you let the water air-dry by itself while you are watching the fire, but if you need to – for example because it is winter – dry yourself.
Stay naked at least until your undergarment has fully turned into ashes, but even better until the fire has completely burned down. For practical reasons, if you are doing this outside, during winter, possible at night time, you can have some small fires around the circle for heat and light. These supportive fires you can feed with wood for as long as needed, but your main fire, the one needed for the spell must be at the centre of the circle, and – in the beginning – it should be greater than the rest, and surely big enough to completely burn your underwear.
If you wanted to use your entire outfit for the spell, you will throw all your clothes into the fire, but write only on those that touch your skin.
Now, the fire has burned out and your worries have gone. You can end this ritual here, or you can do something more to empower your new, worry-free life.
Part Two – Empowering the new you:
I believe we have created our lives and our personal world, including our problems, by means of our believes, our thoughts, and our actions. Therefore, if a healing doesn’t happen, sooner or later we will recreate the some kind of problems and troubles. Thus, I really suggest you will do some self-healing after this ritual. Will it be ritualistic, meditative or of some other kind, is up to you.
Now, let us say that you want to continue on the healing progress. If so, do not dress yet. You should have some spearmint oil, or peppermint oil, or eucalyptus oil with you. All these oils are skin irritators so, have them diluted, according to your skin needs, in some base oil or some body lotion. I would suggest sunflower oil as the best base for the purpose, or the olive oil as the most protective oil for the skin, but do according to your likes. What is most important is that you will enjoy the outcome. If you want, you can mix two, or all three of these oils. You can even use some other oil you think of as more healing and rejuvenating.
Either way, have a bottle of the oil of your choice, and a white, yellow, red, or orange candle, or any other colour you believe that describes the new you and your new life. Only one candle is needed, but if you like to have more, do so freely. Both the size of the candle and the quantity of your oil can be as great as you want and you think proper.
Light the candle invoking the rejuvenating power of the holy fire in it. If you are working outside, protect the flame somehow. To invoke this quality of the fire, you can summon the Gods or spirits of fire you trust and ask them to make the candle and its flame a symbol of your rebirth in a happier you and in a happier life. Alternately, you can use the mantra “Ram” 108 times to invoke the divine fire and then the mantra “Hreem” to give power to your new self.
Once your flame is blessed, open the bottle with the oil, and pass it through the flame, blessing it with the properties you have invoked into the fire. Then, hold it in between your palms and lift it above your eye level, as high as you can comfortably do so. Raise your eyes to look at the bottle and say:
“Oh, oil, blessed by the divine flame, help me become a better me, help me make my life happier, help me be totally free of sorrow and full of joy.”
Keep the oil in this position until you feel that it has answered your call. Repeat the phrase as many times as you think.
Then, using the oil, anoint your body quietly. While doing that imagine your new, troubles-free, worry-free, full of joy, life and your new happier self. Starting from your feet going up to your head has a nice symbolism, but do it according to your beliefs. If you have used enough of the base oil you will have no problems on any area of your body. Maybe you should test the oil on sensitive areas before performing the ritual, to make sure that it is not irritating. Give as much time as you need to this part. It is important to take your time and slowly and calmly do the anointing. Don’t hurry. Don’t stress yourself. Do you want your new life to be stressed and in a haste?
When you have finished anointing yourself, close the bottle. Then, stay for as much as you want gazing the flame of the candle, and imagining your new, wonderful life and your new, wonderful self. When you feel you are ready, say to the candle something like:
“Thank you. From now on please take care of me”
and extinguish its fire.
Part Three – Ending the ritual:
Whenever you are ending the ritual, wear clean clothes. The whole outfit, not just the underwear. If you performed the ritual indoors, you may stay naked as much as you like. There is no rule against it. But whenever you will need to wear clothes, wear some clean ones.
Release the circle, dress in clean clothes and be certain that all the fires are completely burned out. Gather the ashes of the main fire. You can either throw them in the sea, or in the winds, or bury them into the ground. Do with them whatever you consider as the best way to symbolise that this past has already and completely ended. Take the candle and the oil with you.
What to do after the ritual:
For some time, find at least five minutes a day, to anoint yourself with the oil and light the candle. Gaze at its flame and visualise your new self and your new life. After a shower or a bath is a good time to do it. If you feel your old troubles and worries are coming back, do this.
Also, have some cotton with the oil, or a small bottle with the oil with you at all times. If you find yourself worrying about something, smell the oil while reminding yourself that your troubles are gone and true joy has joined hands with you.
That’s all! Should I remind you that if you have a health problem, either physical or psychological, this ritual will help your healing progress, but it does not intent to substitute your therapist or your medications. Also, if your troubles are caused by a curse or an evil spell, perform a complete banishing before performing this ritual. If you cannot handle it yourself, ask a specialist.
Finally, you can perform this ritual in groups, each for their own worries. You can also have some friends with you, to support you and offer more power into the ritual. But, you cannot do this ritual on behalf of another. This means, the persons who want to get rid of their troubles should be performing the ritual themselves.

To receive what you want, you must ask for it, believing that you are receiving it.
The thanks-giving ritual:
So, now let us see how to create this thanks-giving ritual, or prayer if you prefer.
You will only need a piece of paper, a pen or a pencil and your voice. If you want you may use candles and incense of your choice to empower even more the ritual, but this is up to you.
Just write down on the piece of paper simple phrases in the manner, “I give thanks to the Gods for … (i.e. my good health)”. You can write as many as you want. Try, though, not to overdo it, because the more you write the more time you will need to read it.
Start the list of phrases with these:
“I give thanks to the Gods for all the blessings they have given me”.
“I give thanks to the Gods for all the blessings they are giving me”.
And continue according to your wishes.
State the phrases in present tense and in a way you find them true enough. If, for example you want to become richer, you may say, “I give thanks to the Gods for the riches they are giving me”. But if you think yourself as not rich enough, you may say, “I give thanks to the Gods for the riches they are starting giving me”. But, never write something like, “I give thanks to the Gods for the riches they will give me”.
You may substitute “the Gods” with “the God”/Name of a particular God/”the spirits”/”the angels”/”the Universe” or whatever you think as being appropriate. You can also substitute the “I” and the “me” for “we” and “us”, if you are going perform this in group.
Now, daily read your list loud. Do this for 28 days, a month or 40 days. If you want you can continue for even more days.
