Although we do NOT consider Friday 13th to be unlucky, we’d love to discuss why many people believe this.

6 Reasons why Friday 13th is Bad Luck

We’ll start from the main reason and later give more examples why – especially the number 13 – is considered to cause Bad Luck!

1. The Templars Curse

The Order of the Knight Templars was annihilated on Friday, October 13th 1307. It was on this day that the Pope Clement V of the Roman Catholic Church, with the help of Philip IV, King of France, arrested and sentenced a powerful monastic military order known as the Knights Templar to death. Philip IV ordered the torture and crucifixion of their leader.  However, because of the political and financial Power of the Order, the Day was considered a cursed day by all of their followers and this is how it remained in history.

2. The Last Supper

Christians consider “bad luck” to gather 13 people to eat as 12 were the Jesus Christ’s disciples + Himself who ate at the “Secret Supper”, which took place right before Jesus was arrested. Jesus died on the Cross on Good Friday. This is why many Christians consider Friday 13th, bad luck.

3. Ragnarok, the “doom of the Gods”

Similarly to the Christians” Last Supper, there is a Norse Myth according to which, 12 Gods where sitting when Loki – the trickster appeared. This leads to a series of unfortunate events and the death of Baldur, a beloved God. The story portrays the archetype of the Cosmic Cycle of Birth, Life, Death & Rebirth which apparently is similar for every scale of existence, even Gods!

4. Olympus can have ONLY 12 Gods

It seems like the blessed Greek Mountain of Olympus has only seats for 12 Gods. According to the Ancient Greek religion, 12 where the Gods of Olympus right before Hermes (Mercury in Latin) birth. But when Hermes, the God of Communication was born, Hades, the God of the Underworld, left Olympus to Maintain balance of the Divine Realm. This is why Zeus, the mighty King of the Gods, promises to his brother to give blessings so that Hades could marry Persephone and live happily in the Underworld. 

5. Numerology

The number 12 is considered one of the most potent and perfect numbers (this is why the Months are 12, the Gods of Olympus are 12 etc). The number 13 equals 4 according to numerology, a number of Mars, which can bring anxiety and accidents. 

6. Apollo 13, the unsuccessful

The Apollo 13 was the 7th manned mission in the American Apollo space program and the third intended to land on the Moon and it was the 1st unsuccessful mission of NASA (at least for the masses). The craft was launched on April 11, 1970.

Not conviced? Well, I cannot blame you. However, if you do believe in the bad luck of Friday 13th cast a reversing bad luck spell.

  • Two cups of vodka or any alcohol of your preference
  • Two tablespoon of orange flower water
  • 6 drops of essential oil of bergamot
  • add 6 drops of essential oil of rosemary
  • 6 drops of essential oil of lavender
  • also 6 drops of essential oil of rose attar
  • 3 drops of essential oil of sage
  • 2 drops of essential oil of neroli

Is Celtic Astrology a real thing? Yes! Druids and the Celts followed a Calendar based on the Circles of the Moon. They have divided the year in 13 Lunar Months and a day, the most powerful Day of the Year, the Day of the Winter Solstice, the Nameless Day.

Celtic Astrology

Druids have always been a bright example of how Witchcraft can be entirely based in Nature. In Celtic Astrology each month was attributed to one Tree and one sacred animal. Each Tree & animal has many magical powers yet during the Month which is devoted to it, this Tree has additional powers and spells which incorporate the Tree is extra potent.

These 13 Months of Celtic Astrology could also be seen as the Zodiac Circle of the Druids. Every boy or girl was believed to have powers which come from this tree and his/her personality was influences by the powers of this Tree. It was also believed that this Tree was somehow a powerful Tool for this individual, a Gateway from which every human could grasp the Magic of Nature. The Nameless day, December 23rd was called “the Feast of Potentials” and it falls right in the Winter’s Equinox, Yule. It was (and still is) a Holy day attributed only to Mistletoe, the Winter”s equivalent to Oak.

Both were considered equally powerful like Yin and Yang, Light and Darkness. There was a powerful Druid ceremony called “the Ritual of Oak and Mistletoe”, in which Druids climbed a sacred oak and cut the mistletoe growing on it. Later they sacrificed two white bulls while using the mistletoe to make an Magical Elixir to cure all illness, infertility and the effects of any poison. The Ritual was described in Pliny”s Natural History one of the few ancient written texts where we can really learn about Druids.

What was the Nameless Day of the Druids?

The Nameless Day was believed to have powers of change, as we believe Winter Solstice has. According to Celtic Astrology in this Day Potentials are like seeds in a fertile soil. Anything is possible as long as Will is fiery enough to warm the seed. This Intercalary day – between the ending of the Past year and the beginning of the New One – is also called the “Secret of the Unhewn Stone.” What is an unhewn stone? “Unhewn” is a Middle English word (1300-1400) which in fact means rough, unshaped. Unhewn is the stone which has not been cut by any means. It is a Virgin stone. Therefore, the Unhewn Stones were symbols of the unknown & infinite potentials, the unshaped Future. It was believed that Stonehenge, once temple of the Druids, was constructed by Unhewn Stones and this is what it made it so magically potent.

 

The Nameless Day – Mistletoe:

December 23rd The Winter”s Solstice. Day Zero. Mistletoe is the other side of Oak. As a Symbol of Divine power, Mistletoe’s berries believed to embody the essence of the Gods and Goddesses. Pressed Mistletoe berries create a sperm like liquid which was used in powerful Spells and Rituals. Mistletoe wards off Evil and creates a powerful Shield against Dark Arts. It is also believed to promote healing in many ways. (Warning: Mistletoe is highly poisonous. Never ingest or apply on skin).

Birch & Deer: December 24th-January 20th

Birch is associated with Fire and the Sun. The Beginning of all, the divine spark! Birch was associated with Cerridwen and Merlin the all-powerful Mage. Birch is considered an extra powerful tree, balancing both the creative and destructive forces of Fire, exactly like the power of deer. Its easy and eager ability to repopulate areas damaged by forest fires signifies its magical powers for Rebirth, but at the same time Birch is the perfect igniter.

Rowan & Crane: January 21st-February 17th

We find it in Lore as the “Lady of the Forest” due to its close association with Brigid, Goddess of Wisdom & Protection, keeper of the Sacred Flame. Rowan trees growing in sacred sites and stone circles have been considered extra potent. Its berries, themselves, carry a tiny five-pointed star which correlates to the pentagram, a symbol of eternal symmetry, wisdom and protection. Hang them outside of your main Door for protection and a symbol of Welcoming benevolent entities. Exactly like this, Cranes are believed to be sacred birds of the divine realms.

Ash & Seahorse: February 18th-March 17th

A tree of magnificent powers, a tree linked so much with Witchcraft and all kinds of enchantments. A very tall tree (reaching to the skies – symbolises the connection with the Divine) with very thick and deep roots (reaching to the Mother earth – symbolising the connection with Nature – as the seahorse implies deep connection with the Sea’s mysteries). As Ash has access to both Earth and the Skies, was used to craft ritualistic spears and daggers which were viewed somehow as an instrument affecting destiny.

Alder & Fox: March 18th-April 14th

The Alder tree is believed to change the environment near it as it grows. Its powers have been praised as a symbol of Health and Balance. This ability of Alder tree was also believed to come from the Fairy World, as these ethereal beings love hanging out near Alder trees. Those born under Alder tree”s influence are believed to carry something magical, something from the Fairy Realm. Foxes believe to hide secret powers. Carry something from Alder wood in your key-chain to access this power.

Willow & Hare: April 15th-May 12th

This flexible and adaptable tree is associated with the Element of Water (and secondarily Air). Keep Hawthorn outside of your house to attract good luck and benevolent entities.

Oak & White Horse: June l0th-July 7th

Druids and Greeks shared the Oak as the King of all plants. The word “Druid” itself means in Greek “by Oak”. The Oak symbolises the Divine Power. The Royal origin of this tree makes it extremely valuable in Druidic ceremonies and rituals. The Druids used the word “Duir” to describe the oak. It is very interesting to note that Duir also means a Gate. Oak was used by Druids as the Gate to Wisdom and Otherworlds. Keep an Oak to remind you your divine nature and that everything is possible when you really want it! White horse is the royal equivalent of oak.

Holly & Cat: July 8th-August 4th

Holly was associated by Druids with protection by any kind of threats, physical or spiritual. Its red berries (a symbol of Masculine power, the ever-burning Fire) shining in the heart of Winter, symbolises that Life and Hope can endure everything. Keep these berries in your home to magnify your protection against malevolent influences. Cat also symbolizes protection against dark arts as they are considered guardians of the household. Holly acts as a shield against the Dark Arts.

Hazel & Salmon: August 5th-September 1st

This tree was considered a living source of Wisdom and its hazel nuts a powerful tool for creativity and inspiration. It was believed that Hazel trees grew near sacred sites and magical places. It was believed that a Hazel Tree was growing in the Well of Wisdom. Hazel tree along with Hawthorn was considered omens where Magical things could happen if you dare. Salmon always dares us to move towards our dreams! Keep a hazel nut in your wallet as a symbol of creativity and prosperity.

Vine & Swan: September 2nd-September 29th

The way it sprouts and swirls always amazed the druids and even now, the Celts love to blend Viness ability to interconnect in Celtic Knots and other mystical symbols. The Vine’s branches always expand towards different directions but always in a circular way. Just like the Swan, the vine also symbolises eternity and helping us understand that we always a part of something greater, always able to connect with other planes. Use the Vine as a tool for expanding our prosperity and consciousness.

Ivy & Butterfly: September 30th-October 27th

The ability of this tree to grow and endure difficulties was considered sacred by the Druids. Its everweaving ability was viewed by the druids as an omen of ever-evolving, no matter how hostile the environment can be. Butterfly symbolises our will to reach to the skies and achieve higher spirituality. Ivy’s ability to bind other plants and trees together, creating a green web, symbolises its powers for empathy & telepathy. Butterflies symbolize our line of transformations.

Reed & Owl: October 28th-November 24th

Although it not a tree, the Druids honoured Reed as it could grow really tall in swamps. Reed is a powerful tree which was used by Druids to cleanse and banish negativity. Owl has the ability to drive away negative vibes and keep the house protected. As Alder tree was considered to help Druids connect with the Fairies, the Reed helps us connect with our ancestors.

Elder & Black Horse: November 25th- December 22nd

The Elder tree is associated with the Crone of the Great Goddess. It is also called “Old Lady of the Trees”. The Elder berries taken from the tree in Midsummer”s eve, was believed to grant you with magical powers and the ability to see fairies, yet always remember to water it first or leave another offering. The Elder tree also bears Healing properties along with the ability to ward off evil. Black horses symbolize protection.

Dream Magic, a Spell for a Magic Sleep

One of the Oldest forms of Magic and Divination is Dream Walking. In Magic (and Alchemy) a Dreamwalker is the one who taps into the Dream Realm in order to acquire information or receive energy to perform a spell. A Dreamwalker has the ability to control the Dreams and/or even heal others (and himself) through Dream manipulation. The energy of the Dream World is Endless.

As we saw in previous post about God Oniros (Dream = Oniro in Greek), the Realm of the Dreams is actually really close to the Realm of Death (click here to read more about God Oniros). Having access to the Realm of Dream is a powerful healing process.

Dreamwalking is associated with the Realm of Water. Anything that relates to the Realm of Water demands little but everyday practice. The Water can – slowly yet steadily – break even the hardest rocks. This is how Magic of Water works too. All you have to do is repeat the process for its important to exercise your discipline. We do not live in the Dream World although we travel there every night.

What we have to do, is by somehow try to become familiar with the Dream World as we are familiar in this Plane.

Tip

This demands practice. Once we”ve established that discipline is important let”s proceed with the spell.

Purpose of spell: This spell will enchant your sleep. The hours of your sleep are going to be even more rejoicing, even more fulfilling. The purpose of the spell is to wake up your magical and healing powers every time you sleep. The spell is very simple but it requires for you to repeat the process.

Step one. Keep a Dream Journal.

This is a very important tool for establishing contact with the Dream Realm. The Dream Journal (as we saw previously in another article) is how we keep our connection with the Dream Realm strong and healthy. The steps are simple. Everytime we wake up, the FIRST thing to do is to write down your dream as analytically as possible. Even if you remember just a glimpse of your dream write it down and by doing that you will see the Dream stories unfold. Keep on writing until satisfied.

Doing that for a week or more, the dreams will become brighter and stronger. It means that you are beginning to become a Dreamwalker. You may begin to have Lucid Dreams (conscious dreaming, you are consciously the creator of the dream”s plot) although this is not the case, at least not right now. We are soon going to give you an effective and practical way for Lucid Dreaming.

Step two. The Magic Fume of Mugwort

Burn some Mugwort everytime you got to sleep. Light up a charcoal and sprinkle some mugwort. Let the Magic of Mugwort enchant your room. Stay in it. Breathe the difference. (If you got any respiratory problems ask advice from your doctor first).

Mugwort (Artemisia Vulgaris) is a plant with so many magical powers, used extensively in Chinese Medicine for its therapeutic properties (read more about Mugwort and it Magical Properties here). Another magical power of Mugwort is to open the gates to other Realms by activating your Third Eye, your Major Chakra located in your forehead. When this Chakra is activated, your psychic powers receive a huge boost. (Read more here about Psychic Powers)

Step three. The Enchanting

Now that the smoke of Mugwort fills the room and opened your third eye you are ready to enchant your sleep. Remember that chanting is more powerful as your repeat the procedure. Chant 3 times. Feel your heart with the powers of your spell. You are the Enchanter/Enchantress. You got the power. You just now assert your power to the Dream World. 

Remember: You got the power, you are a creature of Light and Love, and with Love and Respect you now want to reach for the Dream World.

Now go to sleep and open the Gate of the Dream World.

Ptolemy, the Greek founder of Modern Astrology & Astronomy, wrote that the Gods peer down at the earth from between the Celestial spheres.

What you need for this Wish Spell

You only need a Bay leaf, fire and a pen. It would be much more powerful if you could use a magical ink like “Dragon’s Blood ink” to inscribe your wish, but you could use any pen available. (Click here for Dragon’s Blood ink article)

Focus on your wish and carefully write down on the Bay leaf your wish. Once you are ready, burn the Bay leaf and visualise that fire gives life to your wish. Visualise the result. Feel free to spend some time taking satisfaction of the result of your wish.

While a regular New Moon affects the following 13 days (before the upcoming Full Moon), a Solar eclipse is so powerful that kinda affects the next 6 months (until the next series of Eclipses). During the influence of a Solar Eclipse nothing should be considered given. The old way of thinking, things we possess, people around us etc can be questioned. Everything around us can change. We open ourselves to endless possibilities. 

This Solar Eclipse in particular, gives us a hint of how it feels to be born, at a time when everything changes. This Solar eclipse is a harbinger of severe changes in our world, a cosmic sign that we are evolving with the new stimuli. It feels like we have lost something of ourselves, but at the same time we feel we are connected to each other. We are one. One race, one soul.

I’m pretty sure you’ve probably got it already. “The Element Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells” (bear in mind that there is also an handier yet smaller edition of 1000 spells) is not just what it says it is. I think Judika Illes managed to write the ultimate source for magical practitioners… and yes it’s endless!

The Forty Waves Magical Recipe

Nature all around us is overwhelmed with magic powers. And the one natural source holding and providing, maybe, the most concentrated mystical and magical power is the Sea. It is no wonder that all civilizations that grown around the sea worshipped it as divine and used its magical powers. The procedure we are going to describe here is called The Forty Waves. It comes from the Mediterranean See. Similar, or almost identical procedures, though, are used in other places around the world, to utilise the magical power of the sea.

The Power of the Sea

Waves in general are channelling energy. Therefore sea waves can bring the magical energy of the sea to the shore. In the same way, they can take energy from the shore into the depths of the sea. The procedure of the Forty Waves uses both these capabilities. It uses the returning waves to send unwanted energies in the sea, and the coming waves to bring the blessings from the sea.

It is a common knowledge that the purifying powers of the sea are incomparable. Therefore, there is no need to worry about the negative energy that is sent in to the sea. It will be purified easily. On the other hand the sea does not have unlimited power to fight pollution, so please respect this great natural and magical source and keep it clean.

Although the spell may be done for either purposes of removing jinxes, bad luck or other negativities and problems, or to bring good luck, and other blessings, during the procedure we actually do both. When the waves return back to the sea, we release ourselves from the problems holding us back. Then, when the waves come, we receive the wanted blessings. This is a whole therapy.

How to collect The Forty Waves?

Let us see how we perform this spell, or simple ritual. You will only need a small glass bottle to collect the forty waves and forty stones to symbolize the problems and use them to send them away. Optionally you may burn some rock sugar while performing the ritual.

Choose a day with a clean sky. We mostly prefer performing the Forty Waves early in the morning on sunny days, under the colourful sky of the rising Sun, if possible, but the setting Sun, as well as the moonlight work quite nicely most of the times.

Sometimes, before the collection of the Forty Waves, we perform a salutation to the Royal Powers of the Sea. We are going to see this procedure in a following article. The Salutation to the Royal Powers of the Sea is done early in the morning. Therefore, if you want to perform both rituals, you need to do it on a morning.

So, if you have a yard, collect forty stones from your yard. They don’t need to be big ones. Actually prefer some small ones. If you don’t have a yard, then collect the stones from the coast.

Light the rock sugar as incense, if you are using it and then stand in the sea, having the bottle in one of your hands and the stones somewhere you can easily reach. Give yourself some time to get tuned with the rhythm of the waves. Then start during a returning wave.

Reach for the Waves

As the wave returns in the sea, throw a stone saying:

“As the waves scatter, so should every evil, misfortune and jinx scatter.”

Then when the next wave comes towards you, submerge the bottle collecting some water while saying:

“As every wave comes, so should every blessing and every joy come. ”

Repeat the procedure until you have thrown all forty stones and collected all forty waves.

Then thank the sea, seal the bottle and leave. Do haste on that. And also keep silence until you are back home or at least until you are far away from the sea.

There are indeed some banishing and cleansing rituals that may be performed at the seashore just after collecting the forty waves, using them, but if you don’t know them choose to leave at once.

That is the whole procedure.

If you want to empower the collected forty waves you may sanctify them before using them, but they are pretty powerful as they are. Use them to ritually cleanse yourself, your house, shop, ritual tools or other objects and bless all these with the blessings you have asked for. Keep in mind that sea water is salt water, which means it may leave stains as well as cause iron based objects to rust if left on them for a while, so use their enormous power wisely. Also, do not drink the forty waves. It is considered improper use, and this is not just because drinking sea water may not be the best for your health.

Finally, as mentioned earlier, use a small bottle. Collecting too much is not considered respectful. Collect 250ml to 500ml, or even less if you need less. If you need more in the future, be confident that the sea will still be there ready to provide you with everything you need.

Candlemas, the Sun festival of the first flame is coming. If we compare Yule with the embryo, then Candlemas is the newborn child. It symbolises the beginning of the manifestation of the wishes we send to the Universe during the Winter Solstice. But also, one major quality of a baby is fantasy.

Fantasy is the source of magical power, creativity and of course art. Historically, when human kind obtained fire started obtaining the ability to imagine, and then humans expressed their imagination in the form of drawing; the drawings we find in the caves humans lived in. So, even in this material plain, fire generated fantasy which generated art.

Here we are going to see a very simple spell to increase our artistic talents  during the powerful days of Candlemas. First decide what talent you want to work with. Choose freely, but choose one. You can work with any other next year. Light your altar as you usually do, and offer the incense and other offerings as you usually do. Invoke the deities you believe in and trust. Apollo, the Muses and Brigid are some examples of corresponding deities, but feel free to choose whoever you like and trust the most. Now, light a candle to symbolise your skill. Use a candle that you can hold for you may need to hold it. Now simply state: “I light this candle to bless and increase my talent in …” You actually don’t need to believe that you have a talent in the particular area. If you want to acquire such a talent you will. Now, focus on the flame of the candle and start expressing yourself and your wish through the art you want to become better.

Don’t judge your expression. It is important to let yourself be expressed freely. If you want to become a better singer, sing. If you want to become a better poet, express yourself poetically. Use the art you want to become better in as a mean to express yourself.

If you can express yourself and your art better and more freely with some friends, do so, but if the presence of others will reduce the freedom of your expression, elect to perform this simple ritual by yourself.

If you need to keep moving while expressing yourself, hold the candle in your hands. Let its flame be always near you, and visible to you.

Then return to a sitting position before your altar. Replace the candle on your altar if you have moved it around with you.

Focus your eyes on the flame of the candle and with your eyes open, visualise “in” the flame yourself being very talented and skilful in the art you want.

That’s it. Let the candle burn completely and, as always, take every fire safety measures. Keep expressing yourself through your art as often as possible during the year. If you want you can find some ways to study more about it. In any way you work with it, it is certain you are going to have magnificent results. The only way for this ritual to fail providing its blessings is if you choose to abandon the game of sharpening your skills.

Facial Toners:

Rose Water Rose water is an excellent toner for the face suitable for all skin types. It will help your skin revitalise and look healthy giving a beautiful glow to the skin. Recipe: 3 cups of rose water 5 cups of distilled water 4-5 drops of essential oil of rose (for more fragrance) Put the Petals in a Pot and put the Lid in the Fridge for 30 minutes.

Boil the Distilled Water and once ready pour the Boiled Water on the Rose petals. Cover the Bowl with the lid. We need the steam as it is enriched with the essential oil of the Rose petals. The cold lid will liquify the steams instantly and it will return to the water and fill it with the Rich aroma. You will notice that the color of the petals is fading.

Keep it there for 2 hours. Strain the Water and squeeze the Rose petals. Add the drops of the Essential oil of Roses for extra aroma and store it when cool in a spraying bottle. While storing keep the rose water refrigerated, this is a good to ensure a better shelf life without adding alcohol to the mix for preservation which can affect more sensitive skin types.

Magical Tips:  Gather/buy the flowers and prepare the mix on a Friday closer to the Full Moon. Honour Aphrodite/Venus and ask her to bless the mix.   Add a rose quartz in the mix before you place the boiled water with the rose petals. Personally, I prefer using a few drops of good quality frankincense essential oil mixed with a little bit of almond oil.

Rosemary has been a herb that was greatly respected by Witches for its reputation to unleash the beauty and youth to the skin. This facial toner will rejuvenate your skin and make it look smoother and firmer. 

Recipe:

4 cups of distilled water  5 sprigs of fresh rosemary  4 tablespoons of  apple cider vinegar

Bring the water to a boil. Add the rosemary and lower the heat. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then close the heat and let it cool. Strain the water and add the vinegar. Optionally add a few drops of essential oil of rosemary mixed with almond oil in the mixture. Place the liquid in a spray bottle.

Magical Tips: *Make the preparation, a real ritual. Light a White Candle and invoke Aphrodite/Venus or the aspect of the Goddess/Divine that inspires you.

*Request the mix to be blessed with beauty and radiance. Create an alliance with the Plant Spirit of Rosemary.

*Find a Rosemary bush and ask for the Plant Spirit to assist you and to bring longevity and beauty in your life. Cut a sprig of fresh rosemary from the bush. Recipe: 2 cups of dried nettle 3 cups of fresh water

Boil the water and add the nettle. Lower the heat and swirl the mix for 10 minutes. Let the mix cool and strain the water. You can optionally add an essential oil of your choice. Add to a bottle for storage and use it as a hair wash.

*Faeries have always been creatures that fascinated humans and there are many tales for their extraordinary beauty. Most of the time they appear as young ladies with fair hair. Petition their help when you are making this mix for a faery aura.  

Blackberry leaf hair wash

Blackberries are packed with antioxidants and are a great ally for the hair. This rinse is great to deepen the darker colour of your hair in a subtle way and bring out any lighter shades. 

Recipe: 1 1/2 cups of dried blackberry leaves 4 cups of water 4 fresh blackberries (optional)

Bring the water to a boil and add the blackberry leaves with the fresh blackberries for a darker natural colour. Lower the heat and swirl, remove the mix and let it cool and then strain the liquid in a bottle.  Rinse your hair as a final step before you get out of the shower.

Apple vinegar hair wash  

Our Final mix is that of the magnificent apple vinegar hair wash which is a fantastic mix for the hair that will leave them with a very clean and shiny look. 

Recipe: 2 tablespoons of apple vinegar 1 cup of water

Mix the vinegar with the water and use it as a wash on your hair before you step out from the shower. You can experiment with the amount of vinegar you want to use until you find what works best for you. Optionally, you can add essential oil drops of your choice to make it more fragrant. Lavender really works well.

Please remember to test for any allergies when using natural products. It is always advised to use a small portion of the liquid beforehand to see how your skin reacts before application. In addition, while the use of essential oils is optional in most recipes make sure you do not overdo it and you have tested for reactions as well. Please also use common sense and remember to cool the mixes before you apply them on yourself.

A simple Wish spell from Grandmother’s Grimoire

A wish coming true has fascinated people since the beginning of time and Witches were reputable of changing the tides of one’s life to manifest a single wish. What would one not give if their wish can be granted in order to live a more fulfilling and accomplished life according to their will. Is it money? Love? A good marriage? A more sexy body? Good health? Good luck?

The options are endless, yet for many people, even witches, even though they have seen their wishes being granted before their very eyes, they do not find happiness. Why is that? Happiness is a state of mind that already preexists in all of us and is only a decision away. The moment you choose to lead a happy life that very moment your whole life changes.

However, if you would like to tread the path and want to cast an uncomplicated spell to manifest a wish, then my Grandmother has already foreseen that. Below you will find a simple wishing spell which has been tried and tested and can bear testimonies that it works wonderfully.

Ingredients: A ring (a normal ring that you wear every day, a special ring that you buy for the occasion or a ring of power will work marvellously) A white candle

Optionally: An item which represents your heart”s desire, though small enough as it has to pass through the ring. Try and be creative.

Moon Phase: Full Moon

Process All you need for this spell is a ring, a candle and a clear and determined mind. If you can have all three of these on a Full Moon then you are ready to cast this spell.

1. Take the ring which you should have worn on the last 3 days in order to be filled with your personal energy. Try and time any cleansing process accordingly so the ring has been energetically renewed before you cast the spell but at the same time you have the time window to wear it for 3 days.

2. Look at the Moon – this spell actually requires for you to face the Moon therefore you must be lucky enough to have a clear sky and be able to see it.

3.Light the candle saying: “This is the flame of my desire, coming true this magic hour”

4. Take the ring from your finger and move it in front of your face in a manner that allows you to see the Moon inside the ring.

5. Looking the Moon inside the ring say: “Goddess (or Moon if not pagan) lighting the skies, hear my call and my desire. Me (your name) daughter/son of (name of Mother or instead say God if you are not aware of your mother”s name) call you this night to fulfil this wish of mine. [State the wish as you were explaining it to a good friend].

6. Take the ring and see the light of the candle inside the ring. When ready say: “Eternal light, your flame I have called this magic night, grant my wish my heart”s desire. Moon bears witness, I illuminate it in your fire.”

7.Optionally: If you have brought an item that represents your wish pass it through the ring.

8. Holding the ring, close your eyes and visualise yourself and your life after your wish has been granted. How do you feel, what changes happen in your life, how is your life now? When ready, take a deep breath and blow at the ring.

9. Seal the deal. Bring the ring back looking at the Moon inside the ring as stated in step 4 and say: “Mother of All (or Moon),my wish is here. As I wear this ring, I seal the deal.”

Q&A 1. How quickly will my spell work? This depends for what you have asked for. Usually it takes 3 lunar circles to complete. If your wish has not been granted repeat or choose another spell. Determination is key.

2. What kind of ring should I use? A ring that will help you fulfil your goal. Any ring that you hold dear and you enjoy wearing.

3. I cannot see the Moon in the sky, can I cast this spell? Unfortunately, if you cannot see the Moon then this is not the right timing. Be patient to wait for the next Full Moon or try another spell.

4. In which finger should I wear my ring? The one you really like. Traditionally, wish rings are being worn either on the ring finger (finger of Sun) or the index finger (finger of Jupiter) for wish manifestation.

5. I have lost my ring. What should I do? This is a sign which tells you that this is not the right time. Contemplate on your wish see what changes are required in your life and try again with a different ring in the next Full Moon.

6. Can I adapt this spell using crystals, incense, runes, oils, potions, etc? Of course feel free to be creative and adapt any spell to your needs. After all this is your spell and represents your wish and life. Ensure that you follow the principles and stay safe.

7. Can I ask for anything in life? Of course! This is your wish and your time so use it well. However, you need to manage your expectations as some changes in life are easier to happen. For example, if you have spent the last year worrying about money and you ask for 1 million dollars then you need first to clear the blockages that brought you in that situation and then cast a wish spell. However, this should not put you down. Aim for the Stars (and in this case the Moon) and be determined.

8. Can I bind another person”s will? This is not advised. Even if this wish is granted it usually does not end up well and Karma will claim its toll. We are masters of our own selves and we are responsible for our lives. Would you feel the same if someone else bound your own free will to do their bidding?

The Air We Breathe

To bring a lover

If the witch wants to bring a new lover in his/her life, s/he should find a small bell with a sweet sound that is pleasant to his/her ears. The witch should get a red cord and cut it at a length equal to the witch’s height. Then fold the cord once and tie nine knots, in the first 8 knots the witch states how the lover should be while tying the knots i.e. Air bring me a lover that is handsome and tall. A charm can also be added to each knot for extra potency i.e. feathers, ribbons, flowers or twigs.  (Check more about Knot Magic here!)

The witch that wants all malevolent magic to be removed should first rectify the magic that causes the problem and then summon the blessings of God to fill the void and create a shield for the future. For this to be achieved, the night of the Full Moon a fire is lit in God’s name and the plants of purification are added in the naked flames: myrrh, frankincense, vervain, rue and St John’s Wort are thrown into the flames summoning the light that illuminates the World and removes all evil.

The Witch should dance and sing the problem s/he has to the flames and ask them to burn it away, an item which symbolises the problem such as an old shoe for fatigue or lack of fidelity, the bark of a tree that bears no flowers or fruits for the lack of fertility, an old bank note that is worn for the lack of money is thrown in the fire. As she throws it in the flames, the witch states: “Fire old friend that burns within, burn this (name of item) that causes me (name of issue). Burn it all and burn it quick so it vanishes from my life that me (Name) son/daughter of (name of mother – if not known then say God) remain free of (cause)”. The Water that Flows

To pay a debt that cannot be afforded

Should the witch suffer a debt or period that money runs low, the blessing of the Water should be sought which is kind and loving to all those who suffer. A freshwater stream, the place where fairies and spirits reside in the forest where the great trees lick the water with their roots and prosper and feed all living and spirits alike. The witch should go bearing gifts before the Sun rises, 3 sesame breads in the form of rings and cover them with honey golden and sweet. The Witch should leave the gifts next to the stream and pledge her need to the running water: “Water beautiful and flowing that connects us all, hear my pledge and honour our alliance which runs true since times of old. Me (name of the witch) son/daughter of (name of mother or if unknown say God) I come to thee bearing gifts and I ask for your help to pay my debt which I face and I cannot repay. Sweet water, come to my aid and as you quench the thirst and repay my debt so I will always thank thee.”

Then the witch should drink from the water and leave. The running water will flow and provide its blessings. When the debt is repaid a gift should be given again to honour the element.

The Earth that Provides

A prosperity spell

Mother Earth that provides food to all her children never forgets those in time of need. Should the Witch find him/herself in a difficult financial period, or a man or woman who cannot provide to their family and seeks the witch’s assistance, Mother Earth, the Great Mother that provides should be sought for assistance. The witch or the person who seeks assistance should go in the forest and find a great tree prosperous and strong such as the great Oak, pledge the God of the Forest and Mother Earth in front of the tree and give an offering of milk and honey to the roots. As the person provides so will the Gods provide.Soil from the tree should be dug and carried in a clay pot back home.

Half should be put underneath the house otherwise at the front door. Half should be scattered around the property to bring the blessings of the Earth all around their life. Finally, a pinch of Earth should be placed in a flannel bag with a coin and a chestnut. A Divine Symbol should be inscribed on the bag and ask the Blessings of the Mother of Earth to reside in the bag. As the bag is being carried financial stability and prosperity will always remain, ever prosperous and abundant as the Earth herself.Always remember that the Mother provides to those that are grateful as she is. Never forget to feed those who are hungry and honour her with your actions. A plate of food does not only feed the body but feeds the soul as well.

Truth Spell: Rune Magic to find out the Truth

Dear MRO family, Today we are going to look into a simple yet effective spell to let the truth shine in your life. A truth Spell! All of us may have found ourselves in times of stress where it is very difficult to see the truth even though it is under our very nose. Yes I agree with most of you that some people are good at lying to others and they are trying to trick us whatsoever but I will also say that we all have a natural innate ability to see the truth at times of deception, our own intuition.

Why a Truth Spell?

Unhealthy ego, fear or pain may act as severe obstacles to help you perceive the truth in any scenario, simple or complicated. The more you work with these blockages and understand the impact they have on you, the easier it will be to monitor when they come into play and affect your judgement.

For this truth spell we are going to use the following ingredients:

  • A white candle A feather (preferably white)
  • A sharp object (knife, toothpick scissors or something similar)
  • Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) essential oil 
  • An object that symbolises the sun for you
  • An oil burner

Casting the Truth Spell

This spell can be cast at all times. There is no need to wait for a particular time to cast it. Our spell utilises the power of the sun to cast away the shadows and perceive the truth of a situation in your life. Therefore, it requires a representation of the Sun as a focal point which can be any object that helps you bring the sun in mind and remain focused during this spell. Personally, I use the Sun tarot card, however let your imagination flow and replace it with whatever works best for you. A sunflower or dandelion blossom, a yellow/gold sparkling stone, a photo of the Sun from Nasa, a magical object you use during Midsummer Eve when the Sun is at its peak are only some suggestions. Let your intuition guide you.

Once you have gathered the ingredients and have found the right time to cast the spell you are ready to go. If you are going to cast it during morning hours, try and face the Sun if possible, however, this is not a prerequisite. Take the white candle and inscribe the rune ‘Sowilo’- the Sun- at the upper part of the candle. Please see image 1 for the rune if unsure. While saying: ‘I charge this spell with the Sun’s power, to cast away all shadows, to see the truth shining in front of me.’

Then in the middle of the candle write your name either physical or magical and say:

‘I, (your name), am blessed and charged with the Sun’s power. To perceive and understand the truth in this matter (you can state your situation here i.e. regarding the situation at job, or about Jack my son who I love and worry about).

Then underneath your name inscribe the rune ‘Kenaz’ – the Torch- if you are unsure see image 1. Once inscribed state: ‘May the radiant Sun light my inner fire to illuminate my mind and see clearly the truth.’ Let the candle down in front of you and take the feather (White feather was a symbol of truth in ancient Egypt and was attributed to the Goddess Ma’at– even if you don”t have a white feather the spell will work effectively). Close your eyes and visualise the situation you want clarity for. Once you have the image clear in your mind take a deep breath and exhale upon the feather. Then say: ‘Oh White Feather! I call upon thee to act as my Messenger. To bring the truth of this situation from the heavens to my life. May I receive it with open heart and open mind.’

Use the feather as a fan and fan your candle. Then place the feather on your working space above the candle (not on top of the candle). Then take your personal symbol of the Sun look at it. Start visualising that you hold the Sun in front of you all its glory and radiance surrounding you and illuminating everything around you.

Hold the image in your mind of you holding the Sun in your hands and say:

‘Dear Sun, Great parent of all the Universe. You who cast your rays and illuminate all darkness. Cast your rays in my life to see and understand the truth in (stating your situation) with an open heart and open mind. Cast your light upon me, so that I can come from the Shadows into the Light. So be it!’. Then place ‘Your Sun’ on the top of your working space. What you should see in front of you should be (starting from your self) 1) The candle 2) The Feather 3) The Sun. Then pour the Yarrow oil in the burner and state your situation saying at the end: “May the Truth we perceive heals us all- body, emotion, mind and soul.” Light the candle of the oil burner and wait a few moments visualising the situation. Do not try to force the truth come out by making scenarios and trying to analyse all evidence, instead, try and have an open mind and focus only in the situation.

Then light your candle take a deep breath and focus.

Try to empty your mind without having any expectations and say: “The Truth shines bright from the heavens in me. I open my heart and open my mind and hear the Truth from lips Divine. Nothing else will interfere, I hear the Truth from the Sun who holds me dear. And as I said so be it!”

Repeat as many times as you want to feel comfortable andremember to trust that the Divine Sun has heard your petition. Let the candle burn completely. When finished you need to do the following: Bury the remains of the candle if any. Alternatively, burn the remains completely. Carry the feather with you. If you are afraid that you are going to damage it put it in a small pouch. When you have received clarity and truth over your situation release the feather in the wind thanking the Gods/Universe for their assistance. Your personal item that resembles the sun does not need to be released. It can be kept and used accordingly in other rituals or in your everyday life.

Now this spell works quickly. What I mean is that results should come to you within 3 days of casting the spell. Usually the results are coming either instantly or usually during the daylight hours. However, from previous experiences, it is not uncommon to see the truth in a dream especially if you trust your dreams and working with them. Some people are more relaxed receiving messages when sleeping as our conscious mind may be in charge. Finally, if you don”t receive clarity it is advised to repeat the spell as needed. It is unwise to think that the spell is not good or even worse that you are not a good spell caster if you don’t see immediate results. In many traditions the souls of the Dead is believed to return on Earth on the night of the Samhain – the Summer’s End- (31st October/1st of November) for a total of 3 days to visit their beloved ones who continue their Earth journey (read all about the Day of the Dead and Halloween here!). It is the time when Silence and Contemplation are respected and encouraged, Darkness is celebrated, the veils between the Worlds are thinner and honouring of the Ancestors is taking place.

Witches Herbal for Samhain

Preparing for Winter it was the magical day that Witches were taught to leave anything unnecessary behind, declutter and make space for new things to come with the new year. Let’s all prepare the ground to rest as new things are to be cultivated and learn from past experiences and make progress the road to happiness.

Death is honoured as the great teacher who reminds us that Life is a gift and that it should be cherished and should be respected in all forms and ways. During Samhain the wheel of the year is turning, and we are reminded that life continues after the death and decay of physical form, that this life is a journey and our human incarnation is only an experience of our life in Spirit.

Finally, we are reminded that we are interconnected with all forms and aspects of Life, part of a great whole we move forward with our Ancestors (see here how to contact your ancestors) that we share our bloodline and our spirit line. Samhain is the great time to understand that we are never alone and we are surrounded by the love and light of those who have left the human world and are still connected with us and smile with our progress and happiness. For this special night of the Sabbat, the following plants held magical significance: “Apples, the Acorn and the Oak, Hazel, Sage, Pumpkin, Mullein, Deadly Nightshade, Mandrake, Sage, Mushrooms, Dittany of Crete, Rue, Wormwood and Absinthe”

Magical Recipes Online suggests the following mixture of herbs for burning incense to celebrate Halloween”s magical night:

  • 1 part of Mullein,
  • 1 part of Sage or Rue,
  • 1 part of Anise seeds,
  • 1/2 part of Dittany of Crete,
  • 1/5 part of Wormwood* ,
  • 3 Acorns, Dried apple skin

*As the above mixture contains Wormwood please do not overdo it and make sure to aerate the space before and after burning the incense.
