How to Contact your Guardian Angel

0

Guardian Angel, a word drenched with hope, magic and virtue! Angel comes from the Greek word αγγέλος which actually means the Messenger. Angel is the God Hermes – Mercury in latin – and the Goddess Iris in Greek Pantheon. The one who bears the Divine messages from Olympus to other Gods, Heroes and Mortals.

What we know about the Guardian Angels

Greek Language has many common words with the Sanskrit language due to the Indoeuropean origin of both. Thus, there is another theory that the word Angel is possibly connected with the Hindu Angiras, magical beings, messengers between Gods and Mortals.

Angels as messengers and mediums between the Divine and the Earthly World became really common belief in Christianity. Jesus Christ mentions in the Gospel of Matthews “See to it that you do not despise one of these little ones, because I tell you, their angels in heaven always have access to my Father in heaven.” [Mt. 18:10] Jesus Christ clearly mentions that there are angels who always take care of us and connects us to the Divine Source no matter how important or not we are in this world. (read here more about Archangel Gabriel)

What are they trying to tell us ?

Of course once again Christianity failed to follow what the Teacher said and there was a time when even the belief that angels existed was considered heresy and evil witchcraft!  Many Religions now support the Belief of Angels as sacred Spirits of the Divine who serve as messengers, expressing the Divine Will and fulfilling the Karma Laws.

Most practitioners of Magic believe that there is a Guardian Angel who helps everyone of us stay on the Right Path of Virtue. Guardian Angels suggest us what is Right and Wrong, what is Good and Evil, when to interfere and when not to. Guardian Angels teach us the Major Law of Free Will, that in fact we have the seed of God inside each one of us and we are 100% responsible for every action of ours!

What do they try to teach us?

They teach us to forgive, to let negative feelings go, they teach us how to heal ourselves, how to heal others and how to heal the World! We are always all under the Wings of our Guarding Angels and there are times when we felt that or maybe not yet. But we have to understand one thing, they are here! Amongst us! Right beside us! Always. Anytime! He/She is right by your side now while you read this article, he/she is right the hugging you while you look at a wonderful sunset realizing that you live a wonderful life, he/she is right there next to the driver’s seat while you are stuck in a traffic jam, listening to you cursing and shouting!  They sometimes take the form of Mortals to interact with you in your everyday life.

He/She never judges you, he/she tries to channel you huge amounts of Love so that you realize that everything can change just by changing you point of view. Moreover, He/She teaches you Karma but also helps you try to avoid a doom! Yes, He/She never gets disappointed by you, cause he/she knows human nature, he/she knows every possible Good or Evil a man or a woman can do. He/She will be there, always, till the end of time, till you Realize you are in fact a part of the Divine, ready to work miracles, ready to Spread Love and Joy to yourself and to the world!

How to Detect Evil Magic using an Egg

2

One of the most popular ways in the Hoodoo and Voodoo lore to detect Evil Magic or if you are the target of malevolent influences is the following egg divination technique. The technique that I am going to describe can be used both to absorb negativity and see if you have any stronger magical disturbances which need your immediate attention.

Detect Evil Magic – an Ancient Divination Technique

Before we start, take a clean clear bowl and fill it with blessed water, add any protection oil to the water and pray to the Gods/Universe to bless the mixture and let you see the truth in this situation. Once done, take an egg from the fridge and pray to the Gods in order for the egg to absorb any negativity.

The Ritual

Place the egg on the top of your head where the crown chakra lies, roll the egg down from the back of your head, to the back of your neck, the center of your back, and around to the chest, while you are chanting and focusing on any negativity getting absorbed by the egg. Then roll the egg over your open palms and over the soles of your feet. It is imperative to roll the egg only downwards in order to remove the negative impact of malevolent magic from your body. Once done, break the egg and throw its contents in the clear glass of water. Observe the pattern and pay attention to any signs or abnormalities, look for blood or any changes in the color. As a guide you can use the following notes to aid in your interpretation:

If the smell is bad, there is blood present or the water appears clouded then this are signs of malevolent magic against you and you need to start cleansing rituals and cast protective spells.

If in the yolk you can see a face then this is a face of an enemy and you need to be extremely careful with him/her. I suggest you begin by forgiving this person and sending love and positive energy towards them. It is of equal importance to forgive and love yourself. Remember hate only breeds hate. Now traditionally, if the face is thin then the person is male while if it is round it is a female. This may help with your interpretation but remember to use your intuition as well.

If the yolk takes the shape of an eye, then this means that you have been affected by the evil eye. My advice here would be to cast a spell against the evil eye and use a jinx removing oil in order to turn your luck around.

If there are small bubbles in the water then that means that malevolent energy has been absorbed by external forces. Your guardians are aware and your protection spells and rituals has saved you from trouble. Now it is important to go back, forgive the person who worked their magic against you and renew your spells, as even the mightiest barriers need reinforcement.

Finally, if the water is clear with no weird shapes, no signs of blood or bad odour, then this means that there is no work of malevolent magic against you. Cast a protective spell and send your love to the Universe. You are safe!

Once done dug a hole in the earth and empty its contents there. Do not touch the mixture and do not look back when you are finished. You are aware of what is going on in your life. Now it is time for some action 🙂

How to Make and Use Four Thieves Vinegar

1

I am happy to share with you a formula which has its historical roots in Western Europe. The Four Thieves Vinegar. The story of this formula has many variations; however, the stories seem to have two things in common, a city suffering from the plague and four thieves magically surviving the disease.

The Four Thieves Vinegar Legend

The legend says that people were suffering from the plague, with the citizens numbers reducing greatly day by day. Quarantine measures were heavily enforced upon everyone, afflicted or not, in order to counter the epidemic nature of the disease.

A gang of four thieves moved from house to house robbing the tenants from their belongings. The thieves grew richer and richer and their health remained unaffected by the plague. Eventually, they were caught and sentenced to death. Clever and cunning they were, they bargained their lives by sharing their secret, a magical formula known to us today by the name of Four Thieves Vinegar. The thieves managed to save their lives and escaped from the afflicted town, with the loots or not, nobody knows.

Four Thieves Vinegar and Hoodoo

This formula arrived in New Orleans and Four Thieves Vinegar was well respected not only for his healing and disease-repelling properties, but for its ability to guard the wearer from danger and sure disaster. Four Thieves Vinegar is a vital component in many banishing and healing spells and its recipe is the following:

Key ingredients:

  • Red wine or apple cider good quality vinegar
  • Garlic

Optional ingredients:

As you can see the key ingredients are two: good quality vinegar and garlic. Now historically, in this recipe each thief contributed one optional ingredient. So I recommend you select 4 ingredients of your choice from the optional list above and add them to your recipe. Intuition and the nature of the situation may act as indicators in order to help you select the appropriate optional ingredients.

Enchanting Four Thieves Vinegar

Now the process, peel and crush the garlic cloves and boil the garlic in the vinegar chanting a spell of your choice. I use the verse below:

“Four thieves vinegar now I make Four elements bless its fate Gods above hear my plea Allow change to come to me.

Four thieves vinegar now I make Four elements bless its fate Negativity is banished from my life Gods let me shine with your light.”

Keep chanting and as the vinegar with the garlic boil, add the rest of the ingredients one at a time. Give them a good swirl before you add another. As a piece of advice I suggest you do not inhale the fumes as they may be very overwhelming (vinegar with garlic remember! 🙂

When you have added the last ingredient, give them a good swirl and let them cool down. Then put them in a bottle and let them sit for four days and your Four Thieves Vinegar is ready. Give it a good shake before use! 

Use Four Thieves Vinegar (Where and How to Use Four 4 Thieves Vinegar):

  • In banishing spells and rituals
  • In spells and rituals for protection
  • In healing spells and rituals
  • To cleanse negativity (use it as a floor wash with black salt)
  • To repel an unwanted person
  • In times of crisis

Ultimate Magical Charm: 9 Herbs of August

2

Lammas Day Spells & Magic, the Ultimate Magical Charm: the 9 Herbs of August. There is one Recipe for Magic during the Lammas Day / Lughnasa – Lughnasagh so highly reputed over the ages that survived in Europe even during the dark Medieval times.

the 9 nine herbs herbal magic magical recipes online
the Nine (9) Herbs Charm
10th century Manuscript

Magical Recipes Online searching deep over numerous dusty Books of Shadows and rusty Grimoires managed once again to give our readers the Ultimate Spell for the powerful Lammas Day, the Lughnasa.

the Ultimate Magical Charm: the 9 Herbs of August

This extra powerful amulet is sometimes called as the Nine Herbs of August, or August Herbs. The Christians adopted the knowledge of their ancestors devoting this Amulet to Virgin Mary. It was said that by devoting this Herbs to Mary they would be protected all year and be blessed.

The Recipe requires nine herbs cut. For extra potency of the herbs they should be harvested the August Eve, on July 31. The Books of Shadows suggest that they should also be gathered by the one who casts the spell and with bare hands.

No metallic / iron knife should be used, only ritual crystal knives some Books of Shadows suggest. Some also point out that the Mage/Witch/Wizard/Socercer/Shaman should be walking barefoot in nature while searching for these herbs.

TIP! Because Magical Recipes Online is a  free Magazine on Occult and Magic which is addressed primarily to Modern people, we understand that most of these directions are inapplicable to nowadays. We advice you that if you cannot avoid the directions do it anyway! The spell will still be powerful and you can always repeat it every year and empower it more.

TIP! Gathering herbs and spring water for Magical Purposes (Spells and Rituals) is often refered in Books of Shadows and Grimoires as a silent practice. “Silence is Gold” is a very famous alchemical proverb which probably derives from depictions of Isis, the Mistress / Goddess of Magic who suggests Silence during spells.

The 9 Herbs that should be gathered are:

* Sage (scientific name: Salvia Officinalis)
* Mugwort (scientific name: Artemisia Vulgaris)
* Arnica (scientific name: Arnica Montana)
* Calendula (scientific name: Calendula Officinalis)
* Dill (scientific name: Anithum Graveolens)
* Lovage (scientific name: Levisticum Officinale)
* Tansy (scientific name: Tanacetum Vulgare)
* Valerian (scientific name: Valeriana Officinalis)
* Yarrow (scientific name: Achillea Millefolium)

Once you’ve gathered them put them in a red Sachet and carry them for the following year till the next Lammas day.

The Powerful Amulet – Magical Charm of the August Herbs will help you:

* by blessing the Whole New Year with Health and Vitality as well as Sexual Virility
* by protecting you from malevolent forces
* by creating a Romantic aura around you enhancing your Charms and your Love life

You can just gather the Herbs and put them together in the Sachet but you can also charge them with a certain desire you want especially if this desire of yours matches the list above. To charge your sachet close your eyes, do the Hatha Yoga exercise and focus for several minutes to what you wish holding the Sachet in your hands.

Self Hypnotic and Meditation Techniques : Inducing the Hypnotic State

How to achieve the hypnotic state

In both meditation and self-hypnosis the desirable state of mind is almost the same, although what we are going to do with it (the state of mind) is in fact what distinguishes if the act should be called self-hypnosis or meditation. So if you are familiar with any technique that works fine with you keep it. If, on the other hand, you are new to these states or you are not satisfied with the techniques you know, it is possible to find here some useful information.

There are in fact too many ways to achieve the relaxed state of mind desired for self-hypnosis and meditation, and numberless variations of them. The Hatha Yoga’s Balancing Breathing Exercise given to this site is one of them.

meditation yoga hypnosis sef-hypnosis hatha yoga raja yoga
A priest Meditating in a Zen environment
a wonderful piece of art by Goro79

Use this technique for five to ten minutes (approximately 15 to 30 full breaths), to achieve a nice relaxed state of mind and body.

Another simple way, mostly used for self-hypnosis rather than meditation, but as stated before, you can use it for both cases, is counting down. Start from a number as high as you need. If you are new, a wise choice would be a number as big as 50 or even 100, then slowly, countdown until the number 1. As you are getting more and more familiar with the hypnotic state of mind, you will be needing smaller numbers, and eventually counting down from 3 to 1 will be sufficient.

A third very common way is the Body Relaxation Technique. Simply close your eyes and focus your attention to your feet, and feel them getting relaxed. Then go on to your ankles and so until you end to your head and mind. Silva Mind Control’s students may use the exact opposite way, starting from the head and going down to their toes. It is a good technique, but I find that starting with your feet and going on to your head makes it easier to achieve the desired state.

If you have any questions about these techniques please do ask your question here. If, in the rare occasion, you cannot induce a self-hypnotic state through any of these techniques please contact me via e-mail with your problems and what kind of techniques you have tried, so that we will find a technique that will work well with you.

Venus in Vedic Astrology and Lord Sukra

2
Lord Shukra Sukra Venus Vedic Astrology Hindu Hinduism
Lord Sukra (Shukra)

Vedic Astrology : Venus and Lord Sukra (Shukra)

In Vedic Astrology planet Venus has a female nature. It also considers Mercury, Saturn and Rahu as Friends, Jupiter and Mars as Equals and Sun and Moon as Enemies. Remember though that Jupiter considers Venus as an Enemy, while Moon considers it as an Equal.

Venus’ colour is white and its stone is the diamond. Its metal is silver (and copper), its season is Spring and its element is Water.

Venus owns the signs of Taurus and Libra. It is exalted in Pisces having its greatest exaltation on the 20th degree of Pisces, and it is debilitated in Virgo, having its lowest debilitation on the 20th degree of Vigro. Its Mutrikona (its most beloved place) is the first 20 degrees of Libra.

Venus governs the sense of touch, the symmetry of the body, the reproductive organs, the kidneys and maybe the fluids (not blood) of the body. It also rules love, beauty, harmony, sexual delight, marriage, dance, music and the arts, luxuries and all kinds of transportation.

By nature Venus is a beneficial planet, maybe second only to Jupiter, but the Sukra Dasha (the period of one’s life that Venus rules) is the longest dasha lasting 20 years. Venus in general offers wealth, sensual pleasures and luxuries as well as psychic abilities and physical endurance.

Unless Venus is in Virgo, being in the first house it will offer good looks to the person and a nice and charming personality (especially charming towards women). It will also offer very good taste, good fame and a love to luxuries that will also provide. If it is also in Taurus or Libra, psychic abilities will be present as well as a love in meditation. If on the other hand it is in Virgo, a person with a unpleasantly cunning character, maybe a thief or an impostor is more possible to appear.

In the second house Venus will offer lots of wealth and a kind character as well, while happiness and beauty are at their pick if Venus is in the forth house.

The seventh house will make the person very erotic, while if Venus is in the ninth house he or she will be very religious and finally, if it is in the tenth house, fame and glory should be expected.

In the third house the person may have many siblings and some happiness from them, as well as long life, but neither a very easy one nor a very happy, while if it is in the twelfth house, Venus will offer no wealth nor luxuries.

The Gods associated with Venus are Lord Sukra (also Shukra), Lord Kama, Lord Parashurama (the sixth great avatar of the Great Lord Vishnu) and the Goddess Laksmi. The Graha is Lord Sukra.

It is a little difficult for one to understand Lord Sukra, as two of his most known characteristics make Him seem a little devilish, while in fact is a very kind and loving God. And these characteristics are that Lord Sukra is the guru of the Asuras and is an enemy of Great Lord Vishnu.

Lord Sukra is son of Lord Bhrigu, one of the seven great sages, who was born by the will of Great Lord Brahma. His mother is Lady Kavyamata. Lord Bhrigu is the creator of (the art of) Astrology and he passed the art of Astrology to Lord Sukra.

Lord Sukra firstly became a pupil of the Sage Angirasa, and “classmate” of Lord Brihaspati. But Lord Angirasa favoured his son, Lord Brihaspati, too much so, Lord Sukra left him and became pupil to another great sage, Lord Gautama (not the Buddha), who is the creator of the mantras.

Lord Sukra prayed to Great Lord Siva for several years, and Lord Siva, pleased with his prayers, gave to Sukra the ability to bring the dead back to life through a mantra.

When Lord Brihaspati became guru of the Devas (deities), Lord Sukra became the guru of the Asuras and the Daityas.

Now, the word Asura is commonly translated as “demon” but in fact it refers to the Giants, some of them being demonic, other not.

Daityas are the children (both female and male) of Diti (sister of Lady Aditi, the mother of the Adityas, the Sun Gods), an Earth Goddess, and wife of the Great Sage Kasyap (who is also husband of Aditi and father of the Adityas). The dark nature of Diti passed to her children, making them Asuras. Notice that one of them is named Chandra, who should not be considered as Lord Chandra/Soma, who is a grandson of Kasyap. The Mahabharata (Sambhava Parva) states that the Asura Chandra is the foremost of the sons of Diti and as handsome as the lord of the stars himself (Lord Chandra).

Should I also mention that Lady Diti gave birth to another clan of fearsome beings, the wind Gods Marutas, who are sons of the Great Lord Rudra (Siva) and – obviously – divine in nature.

Now, Lord Sukra, having obtained the ability to raise the dead, organised the Asuras to fight the Devas. For this purpose he again went to Great Lord Siva to ask for his help. He went to mount Kailash, where Siva lives and started praying.

The Devas found out that the Asuras were now unprotected so they attacked with the help of Lord Indra and the Great Lord Vishnu. Lady Kavyamata with one glance put the Devas in to sleep and managed to paralyze Lord Indra and Vishnu, but the Sudarshana Chakra (a spinning wheel, weapon of Lord Vishnu, manifested to existence by Great Lord Siva, and almost a Deva by itself) was not paralysed and Vishnu mentally ordered it to decapitate Lady Kavyamata.

By doing this, Lord Vishnu had committed a sin. Lord Bhrigu, using blessed water, raised his wife Kavyamata and cursed Lord Vishnu (or maybe the resurrected Kavyamata cursed him) to be born countless times as a mortal and suffer all the times. Therefore Great Lord Vishnu has at least 1000 Avatars even though 10 or 9 Maha Avatars (Great Avatars) usually are mentioned. Also, from that moment on Lord Sukra hates Great Lord Vishnu and tries to destroy his plans.

Again, when Lord Chandra fights with Lord Brihaspati for Tara, Lord Sukra joins forces, along with the Asuras, with Lord Chandra, but, according to the Mahabharata, in this case Great Lord Rudra (Siva) is not in his side but in the side of Lord Brihaspati.

Lord Sukra has one wife, Urjaswathi, and five children, four of them sons. His daughter fall in love with one of Lord Brihaspati’s sons, but he refused her.

Other than that, Lord Sukra is very kind father, loving husband, gentle in manners. He has white and silky skin, and most of the times he is pictured without weapons, although sometimes he may hold a bow. He usually has one head and four arms, and most possibly is sitting on a lotus.

One should call upon Lord Sukra:
* To avoid the malefic influences of Venus and to magnify the beneficial ones.
* For finding a good husband or wife
* To enjoy sex
* For everything that brings happiness
* To acquire beauty in general or of any kind
* To bring harmony in the family
* For help in any kind of love problems
* To obtain and enjoy luxuries of any kind
* To learn Astrology and to obtain psychic abilities
* To have more stamina

The number of Venus is 6, so its magic square starts with 6.

Magical Square of Venus Magic Square of Venus Sigil Seal

The simplest mantras of Venus are:
Om Sukraya Namaha
Om sum Sukraya Namaha
Om dram dreem draum sah Sukraya Namaha

Repeat the mantra for one mala (108 times) or three malas daily starting Friday for 21 or 60 days holding or over the yantra (magic square) and/or a diamond.

It is said that if you repeat the mantra for 21 malas for three days, you’ll be having the results in a hurry.

Self Hypnotic and Meditation Techniques : Magnetize what you want through visualization

4
Magnetize what you want through visualization

Now, the technique I am going to describe I have taken it from Richard Bach’s “Illusions” and changed it a little according to my experience. It is in fact very simple, and you can do it any time you want, and as many times you feel it right.

Choose what you want to receive. Start with small things, that you find in your mind easy to receive but also things that you’ll be glad receiving them. Choose just one thing for every exercise.

Now, perform the balancing breathing exercise. Keep your eyes closed and imagine this thing. Imagine it as clearly as possible. Mentally describe it to yourself. It doesn’t matter if you really “see” it or you just have the feeling that it is “there”.

Now imagine yourself next to the target or holding the target, whatever is correct in your case. Encircle the target and yourself in a fiery circle. The fiery circle will give the energy needed for the target to manifest itself to your life.

Keep the image for as long as you feel comfortable and focused. If you are well experienced in meditation and/or self hypnosis you may be able to keep your focus for too long, so in that case, 10 to 15 minutes should be enough.

Then let your focus come to your body and your posture. Don’t fade the picture. Let it be. Just stop focusing on it. Wake up as you usually do, or just say to yourself that in a few minutes your eyes will be opened and you’ll be absolutely awake, and then follow your body’s messages as about when to open your eyes.

Stand up, stretch. Wash your face and start doing something totally different. Your target is now coming to you. Congratulations!

About all the previous forms of magic there will be detailed numerous articles of what is how can this spell (or form of magic) be cast!

One thing we should specify before proceeding to our Spell is that, Wish Spells can be divided in two major categories. One, all those wish spells we cast to allure and attract something or someone to our lives, and those wish spells whose purpose is the exact opposite!

This Spell utilize the Attraction power of the Rose, therefore it should not be done if our wish is for example to exorcise ghosts or get rid of Negative influences. This Wish Spell’s purpose is to Create something, to bring that certain something to our lives!

Using the Rose Water in Magic

You will need:

* a clean piece of rice-paper or regular piece of paper.
* fresh Rose Water (you will find a Recipe if you are wondering how to make my own Rosewater here!)
* a glass of fresh tap (or spring water)
* a pen
* 1-2 drops of May Dew Elixir (if it’s available, if not it’s still going to work!)

Tip! Rice paper is considered more powerful in magic because Rice possesses the Ultimate Chi (Qi) potential. In China the Energy that surrounds everything in this World is called Chi (Qi). It the Lifeforce, the energy that runs through humans, animals, forests, mountains, seas… Everything! The Chinese Ideogram (logogram) which means Chi is the Steaming Hot Rice! This parallel is obvious! In China Rice was considered full of Chi and this is why in Chinese food Rice is essential! Even the Western Medicine suggests Rice as an excellent food for energy!
Casting the Spell!

  • Sit down and Relax. Do the Hatha Yoga Relaxing technique. Clear your Mind for few minutes.
  • Take a clean pen and soak it in the Fresh Rose Water using it as you would use a regular ink! “Write” clearly on the paper your wish, making it clear and using Present Tense. For example:

    “I am Sexy!”
    or maybe…
    “I am Rich!”

Rose Water is not exactly an ink so don’t expect to clearly read what you’ve just wrote! But that shouldn’t bother you at all! The only think that you have to know is that you should focus on your desire when your write what you wish!

Now that you’ve written it take the piece of paper and soak it in the Glass of the fresh tap water. Let the Rose Water be diffused in the tap water. Now is the time to add 1-2 drops of May Dew Elixir if available. Meditate on your wish and then drink the water! The Spell is done! Your wish is now one with you and your world! (a similar Wish spell is the Apple Wish Spell! Try it too!)

Tip! This Spell utilizes the Element of Water! It’s basically an Elemental Spell of Water! Do this spell on Waxing Moon and preferably on Friday and if possible during the Planetary hour of Venus!

Jupiter in Vedic Astrology and Lord Guru

1

Vedic Astrology : Jupiter and Lord Guru (Brihaspati)

In Vedic Astrology planet Jupiter has a male nature. It also considers Sun, Moon and Mars as Friends, Saturn and Rahu as Equals and Mercury and Venus as Enemies. Now remember that Moon considers Jupiter as Equal and so does Mercury.

 Lord Guru (Brihaspati)
 Lord Guru, Brihaspati

Jupiter’s colour is yellow and its stone is the yellow sapphire and also topaz and generally any yellow stone can serve as Jupiter’s stone. Its metal is gold, its season is Winter and its element is Ether.

Jupiter owns Sagittarius and Pieces. It is exalted in Cancer, having its greater exaltation on the 5th degree of Cancer, and it is depilitated in Capricorn, having its lowest depilitation on the 5th degree of Capricorn. The first five degrees of Sagittarius is its most beloved place.

Jupiter governs the whole circulatory system (blood and blood vessels) but the heart which is under the Sun, the liver and the thighs. Also some consider the brain under Jupiter rather than the Moon. It also rules theology and philosophy, science, reasoning and the ability to compare. It also rules the finances and everything that has to do with people and places abroad.

By nature Jupiter is beneficial, the most beneficial planet. Jupiter in general offers good luck, good health and wealth.

In the first house if Jupiter is in his houses or in Cancer, it will give all his blessings, including wisdom, good luck, fame and a great interest in meditation, Raja Yoga, and the study of the sacred texts. If on the other hand the first house is in Capricorn or any house of a malefic, the fame may again come to the person, but for reasons rather immoral.

In the second house Jupiter will make the person rich and intelligent and capable to create his own destiny. It is said, that if the person just says something, the Universe has to obey. So maybe this person seems to be a diviner or foreteller but in fact he or she creates the future, and not predicting it.

In the fifth house the person may become interested in military activity and life, while in the sixth house, no enemy can stand against the person. It is also said, that if Jupiter is empowered even illness is too small of an enemy for the person.

The most difficult position of Jupiter should be the eighth house, where Jupiter will bring a great amount of misfortune, unpleasant events, and sometimes even a short life. But if the ruler of the 8th house is associated with beneficial, or the eighth house is one of the signs it owns or Cancer, then the life of the person will be rather long.

In the 12th house, Jupiter withdraws all its material blessings, but it still offers wisdom and a very capable mind.

The Gods associated with Jupiter are Lord Guru (Brihaspati), Lord Indra, Lord Vamana (the dwarf avatar of Great Lord Vishnu) and the Great Lord Brahma. The Graha is Lord Brihaspati.

We have seen Lord Brihaspati in the posts concerning Lord Chandra and Lord Budha, and even Lord Kuja.

The Rig Veda considers Lord Brihaspati to be son of the sage Angiras, and therefore brother of Lord Agni. He also may have two more brothers, according to other opinions on who is his father. He has three wives, and he is father to 17 (!!!) children, not counting Lord Budha and Lord Kuja among them. From these children 9 are sons and 8 are daughters.

Lord Brihaspati is the guru (teacher) of the Devas (deities), therefore his names Guru and Devaguru (or Devguru). He prayed to Great Lord Siva for this wisdom and Siva granded him his wish, and also made him Graha (planetary influence) and ruler of the Graha. That is why sometimes he is called as Grahaspati, although the name most of the times refers to Great Lord Siva.

The Veda considers Lord Brihaspati a friend of Lord Indra, and as Indra and Lord Agni he enjoys, maybe too much, Amrita. Also the thunder which is also under Agni’s power and the weapon of Lord Indra, is considered by the Veda to belong also to Lord Brihaspati. That I find very interesting as the Greek and Roman God of the same planet Zeus and Jupiter and the Nordic one, Thor, are all rulers of the thunder too.

Lord Brihaspati’s vehicle is the elephant but he also can be sitted in a chariot of – most probably – eight horses, or more peacefully, on an open lotus flower. His clothes are usually yellow and he has one head and two or four hands. The two hands possibly holding a weapon or a symbol of power, the third hand may also hold one of these or the Vedas and the forth hand offers blessings.

One should call upon Lord Guru:
* To avoid the malefic influences of Jupiter and magnify its beneficial ones.
* To be protected from thunders.
* To achieve wealth, fame and success.
* For help in studies and academic career.
* For good judgment and bettering of reasoning.
* To have children.
* Women to find a good husband (not sexual partner)
* To achieve any knowledge.
* Along with Lord Indra for pressing money matters, as the Veda call upon this duet as “Rainers of Treasure”.

A tip: Offer some Soma Juice (Amrita) to Lord Brihaspati (and Lord Indra) every Thursday, to always have his (or their) blessings.

The number of Jupiter is 5, so its magic square starts with 5.

The simplest mantras of Jupiter are:

Om Gurave namah(a)
Om vram Brahaspataye namah(a)
Om gram greem graum sah Brahaspataye namah(a)

Repeat the mantra for one mala (108 times) or 3 malas, starting on Thursday for 16, 60 or 180 days over – or holding – the yantra and/or a sapphire.

Litha Talisman to store the Sun

0

In magic there are several talismans that are used to store the energy of an element, a planet or other powers, so that they can be summoned up when those powers are weak or absent. In all these cases the pattern is similar. We use an object that is capable to store the energy and reminds us the nature of the Force itself, but other than that the exact kind of the object and its shape may vary. This brings us to Litha Talisman(s).

Litha Talisman to store the Sun

Secondly we summon the Force in its most powerful aspect possible, and we store the Force into an object, which then  becomes our talisman. So in this spell the Force is the Sun of the Summer Solstice, when his power is at its peak.

The object we are going to use should be one you can wear as a necklace, anklet, bracelet or any kind of ornament. It can be a crystal / gem related with the Sun, as it is the Ruby and the Sunstone or a metallic Sun (best option is of course the gold, second would be the copper), or a symbol of the Sun engraved on metal or even terracotta. The choice is yours; just find something that you would like to wear.

I should mention that the correct symbolism of the Wheel of Fortune, the tenth triumph of the Tarot card (the wheel should have eight rays) is a quite powerful symbol you can use, if you want to make a second talisman for your house. If so, after you complete the spell, you just hang it in common view. For this purpose, another obvious magical symbol would be the Sun card of the Tarot.

Litha Talisman to store the Sun
Litha Talisman to store the Sun

Now, what are you going to need for the Litha Talisman?

  • One red candle
  • One white candle
  • Sun magical oil, or Cinnamon essential oil, or Heliotrope essential oil, or Sunflower essential oil or just plain sunflower cooking oil.
  • The symbol or symbols (don’t overdo, unless you belong to a coven or you are really experienced, so that the talismans would be powerful enough and not weak)
  • Myrrh gum, or myrrh incense or myrrh, cinnamon and frankincense.
  • A censer and charcoal disks for incense burning

* Optional, if you are going to perform the ritual  outdoors you will also need a small preferably red candle for burning outside. If you are going to use a regular one, it will not stay lit.

Now, choose a place in your house from which you are able to watch the first Sunlight, and set your altar there, facing East, but do the spell at night, so that the candles will burn out at the break of the dawn. If you are not sure, a little later would be better than a little earlier.

Anoint the candles from middle to the wick towards you, and then from middle to bottom towards you concentrating in the power of the Sun. If you want, before anointing them, inscribe LIGHT in the white candle and FIRE in the red one, as Sun is Fire and Light.

Now set your altar as usually, and make a triangle having in the upper vertex the censer, in the left base vertex the white candle, and in the right base vertex the red one. In the middle of the triangle put the symbol.

Light the altar and summon the Solar Gods/Spirits of your choice.

Light the incense and the candles.

Perform the balancing breathing exercise, or at least take some deep breathes.

Now take the symbol and hold it inside your palms. If you are energizing a house talisman, put both your hands over it.

Keep your eyes focused on both the candles and naturally let them close, when you feel it is time. Remember the image of the candles and let a rising Sun appear in between them.

Feel the light, the warmth, the power of the candles and the Sun, giving birth to a Sun inside yourself in the area of the Solar Plexus. Make it strong and clear. Then let your personal Sun go through your hands to the talisman and be stored there.

When the energy flow stops, let the talisman rest in the middle of the triangle.

Put some more incense to the censer and cense the altar with clockwise circles saying:

“The Sun now shines in me and in you (that is the symbol)”

Put the censer in its place again.

Let the candles burn out by themselves and your talisman is ready. Wear it and it should provide you with enough Sun through autumn and winter until the Winder Solstice comes to give birth to the new Sun.

If you want to perform the spell outdoors, then you should take the talisman about an hour earlier from the triangle, but let the candles lit. IT IS UNWISE to let candles burning unattended, so if you choose to do so, take all the fire safety precautions you should!

Go to a place that you can be undisturbed and from where you can see the rising Sun. Offer the candle to the Sun and put the symbol next to it. Close your eyes, and visualise the talisman shining in front of you. Talk to it by repeating “The Sun now shines in me and in you”.

When the Sun rises above the horizon you are ready. Open your eyes. Stay there and admire the rising Sun as the candle burns out. Then you can leave.

Remember to thank the Fire, the Sun and the Gods/Spirits you have summoned.

May the Sun shines in all of you!

Le Château des Carpathes, The Vampires of Crete

0

Les Château des Carpathes
by Jules Verne first published in 1893

Le Château des Carpathes :

The Vampires of Crete!

On the Greek island of Crete, around two centuries ago, an appearance of two vampires occurred – actually Crete has many stories of vampires – maybe better known in England than in Greece, as the story is mentioned in Robert Pashley’s book “Travels in Crete”. Now, here is how I know it.

An old widower miller lived with his two beautiful young daughters peacefully. The old man was very religious and knew well that the devils crawl around on the earth waiting to catch their victim’s souls, so he tried to be, as much as a man can be, close to the church and God.

But, one night he woke up from some noise coming from his daughters’ room. But the noise stopped. So he went to sleep once more.

The Sun raised and as soon, his daughters start yelling and crying. Two vampires had come in the night in their room to torture them. The pour girls were so much scared that they didn’t dare to scream and call for help. They thought, they said, that they were as good as dead and felt hopeless because who could help them against these devils after all?

Their old father knowing that only God can protect people from the undead, did what he could. Put some crosses to the windows and doors of the house, believing that this would be enough.

map of Crete, the beautiful island of Greece

But one or two nights after that, once again some noise woke him up, coming from his daughters’ room. Could it be again the vampires? He wanted to go to their room to help them, but what could an old man do against two vampires, or maybe now some more? So he locked his door and started praying to the Almighty for protection.

Not long before the Sunrise the fuss stopped. He waited a little to be sure. It seemed like his prayers were answered. He waited a little more, and when on the edge of dawn run to his daughter’s room.

The poor girls were exhausted and scared, crying. The two vampires had come once more. The crosses hadn’t scared them at all. And the vampires tortured them more violently than before.

The old miller asked the villagers what he should do. And he used all talismans that he was advised to use in order to protect the house and his daughters.

But night after night, the vampires were coming, torturing his daughters more and more, flying around the room, jumping and dancing as only devils can. So they said, because the old man, scared for his soul, locked himself into his room, praying ceaselessly. After all, if the crosses, the garlic, the holy water and all these powerful talismans had no power over this grisly beings what an old man could do?

As every night the things were worse than the previous, his love for his daughters fought the love for his soul. And one night, he found the courage, and waited armed with his pistol and the love of God, to try to kill the beasts as they would leave the house just before dawn. After all, even if he just managed to delay them, the Sun would burn them up to hell.

So as the vampires went out of the window of his daughters’ room he fired the gun.

He missed. Thankfully enough, and the two young lovers of the girls, living and not undead, run away as quickly as they could, as the girls were begging their father not to shoot.

Sometimes, circumstances and conditions and maybe a clever plan of some people, just like the plan of the miller’s daughters, may manage to build up a “supernatural” event where there is nothing more than actions of humans and/or nature.

Keep calm and Dive in Emerald Green Waters of Greece

So, we decided to start a new category in our blog presenting examples of such events, that although they were assumed to be of supernatural type, they have been proven to be natural. That is why we named this new series from Jules Verne marvellous book “Le Château des Carpathes” (or as published in English “The Castle of the Carpathians”, “Carpathian Castle”, “The Castle in Transylvania”).

We hope you will enjoy it!

Mercury in Vedic Astrology and Lord Budha

1

Vedic Astrology : Mercury and Lord Budha

In Vedic Astrology planet Mercury has a neutral nature concerning its sex. That means it is neither male nor female, and not both male and female. It also considers Sun, Venus and Rahu as Friends, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn as Equals, and Moon as Enemy. Now, remember that Sun sees Mercury as Equal, Moon sees Mercury as Friend and Mars sees Mercury as Enemy.

Mercury’s colour is green, its stone is the green emerald, its metal is brass (which is an alloy of copper and zinc), but also any mixture of metals or metallic alloy, as well as mercury, although I am not sure if this is a loan of the western astrology or not. Mercury’s season is Autumn and its element is Earth.

Mercury owns Gemini and Virgo, it is exalted in Virgo, having its greatest exaltation on the 15th degree of Virgo, and it is debilitated in Pisces, having its lowest debilitation on the 15th degree of Pisces. What Mercury would call home and not just house (its Mooltrikona) is the area from the 16th to 20th degree of Virgo, while the first 15 degrees are the area of its exaltation.

By nature Mercury is considered mild beneficial or sometimes even neutral, as his position and aspects strongly define his malefic or beneficial aspect.

Mercury offers intelligence and rationality, nice and influencing speech, adaptability, good taste, artistic nature and a good sense of humour.

Lord Budha Vedic AStrology planet Mercury
Lord Budha
Mercury governs the nervous system, the bowels, the arms, the mouth, with the exception of teeth, and the sight. It also rules study and teaching, understanding, learning through experience, and imitation. It also influences, all kinds of communication, as well as the communication with the Divines, and therefore the ceremonial magic, being it of organized religions or not. But keep in mind that he most probably make a priest or mage than a theologian or philosopher (these are under Jupiter), as it is more practical than theoretical.

Almost in every house Mercury, if not having negative aspects, will give its blessings, including money, status, children and brothers, education, and good relations of every nature.

In the sixth house though, would give obstacles in achieving the desired education and success in business matters. If Mercury is in the tenth house the person is most possible to become a priest or ceremonial mage.

The Gods associated with the planet Mercury are Lord Budha, and the Great Lord Vishnu. The Graha is Lord Budha.

As mentioned in the post regarding Moon and Lord Chandra, Lord Budha is the first son of Lord Chandra and the Goddess Tara, the wife of Lord Brihaspati (Jupiter), and so another name of Lord Budha is Sowmya, which means “born by Soma”.

The Harivamsha Parva of the Mahabharata says that Brihaspati reclaiming Tara started a war with Lord Chandra. I should mention that Lord Sukra (God of Venus) joined forces with Lord Chandra, while the Great Lord Rudra joined forces with Lord Brihaspati. Anyway, the things went mad and Great Lord Brahma stopped the war demanding Tara to go back to her husband.

At that time Tara was almost ready to give birth, and Lord Brihaspati asked her to do so at once as her containing someone’s other seed was indiscreet. So, Tara gave birth to the child. The baby’s body was glowing like a ritual fire, and appeared as an enemy slayer, as the parva states.

So the devas start wondering if he is a child of Brihaspati or one of Soma and asked Tara, but she refused to answer. The newborn child get angry and wanted to curse his mother, but Great Lord Brahma stop the curse saying that if Tara don’t answer, only then the curse would take effect. So Tara stated that the child was one of Lord Soma, who embraced at once his son naming him Budha.

Now, as about who were the acting parents of Lord Budha, the Mahabharata sais nothing, as goes from his birth to his becoming father, so there are two options. The one assumes that Lord Chandra and his wife Rohini raised the child, while others believe that Lord Brihaspati and Tara raised him. That is why sometimes Lord Budha is called son of Rohini while other times is called son of Brihaspati.

Lord Budha marries lady Ila, and has a son with her the great king Pururava. Should I mention that although Ila is the mother of Pururava and Budha the father of him, Ila is both male and female, something that by delivering Pururava achieved, as Lord Mitra and Lord Varuna, the creators of Ila had promised to her.

Please note that she is not hermaphrodite. When he is a male, under the name Sudyumna, he is a complete male, and when she is a female she is a complete female. Sudyumna fathered three sons Utkala, Gaya and Vinata-ashva. These three boys are not sons of Budha, but sons of Sudyumna (which is male) and Vaivasvata Manu (also male).

Vaisvata Manu is an expression of the Sun (Surya) and the metre of time, and who through a Vedic ritual asked Mitra and Varuna to create Ila, therefore Ila is considered daughter of Vaisvata Manu. Also Ikshvaku is a son (the first son) of Vaisvata Manu.

And so, from Chandra comes Budha and from him and the Sun descendant Ila starts the Lunar dynasty from which Lord Krishna will be born, while from the other son of Vaisvata Manu, Ikshvaku (who then is as well son of Surya), the Solar dynasty starts, from which Lord Rama will be born.

Now back to Lord Budha. As the teacher of the deities, Lord Brihaspati, was not very fond of him, he was not well educated, so Budha prayed to Great Lord Brahma or Great Lord Vishnu (depending on the tradition) for several years in order to obtain knowledge.

Great Lord Brahma was pleased with his prayers and gave to Lord Budha knowledge on all things, and made him a Buddha (illuminated). Or Great Lord Vishnu was pleased with his prayers and gave to Lord Budha the knowledge of all the Vedas and the arts.

Lord Budha’s vehicle is a Lion which sometimes is winged. He also can be pictured as sitting on a carpet, yes maybe the first flying carpet, for Tara gave birth to him on a carpet made of sacred grass. Other times he is in a chariot that is carried either by lions or yellow horses. His clothes are mainly yellow. He wears much jewellery, most of them also of yellow (golden maybe) colour. His skin can be green or greenish.

He most often has one head, and four arms, usually two of them holding weapons (a sword and a club most probably), one a shield, and the forth either gives blessings, or holds a lotus flower (meaning again the same).

One should call upon Lord Budha to:
* Avoid the malefic influences of Mercury and to magnify the beneficial ones.
* Improve his speaking and communication skills.
* Improve writing (for authors).
* Improve any and every skill in arts.
* End a period of drought.
* Better their business, especially concerning trade of any kind and occult services.
* Fight depression and luck of concentration
* Help in healing headaches, neck aches and other neurobehavioral pains.
* Help in healing sexual diseases and chronic diseases of the bowels.
* Help in healing rheumatism and all diseases causing restriction of dexterity.
* Undo laziness and dullness as well as restlessness.
* Achieve better results in any ceremonial practise.
* Have good luck in gambling.
* Be respected for their opinion and individuality.
* Be accepted for their sexual orientation.
* And finally many call upon him to be helped in homosexual love affairs .

The number of Mercury is 4, so the magic square (Yantra) of Mercury starts with 4.

The simplest mantras of Mercury are:

Om Budhaya namah(a)
Om bum Budhaya namah(a)
Om bram breem braum sah Budhaya namah(a)

Repeat the mantra for one mala (108 times) or 3 malas, starting on Wednesday for 14 or 40 days over – or holding – the yantra and/or an emerald.

It is said that if you chant the mantra for 17 malas (1836 times) for three consecutive days you will also have the desired results in a hurry. I haven’t tried that, as you’ll be needing about three hours for each session. If you do try it, please let me know.

Creatures of Light and Dark : Strix and Shtriga, Two entities, one beast.

0

There is a vampiric monster, common to many nations, known with almost the same (phonetically) name. In Greek is Strigla (Στρίγγλα, plural Strigles), in Albanian is Shtriga (plural Shtrigat), and in Latin is Strix (plural Striges). In addition in all these names the monster has almost the same properties. While one would assume that this monster is globally the same, interestingly enough, the monster comes from two different entities.

The Lore of Strix

The Latin word Strix, comes from the Greek word of the same sound, Strix or Striga (Στριξ, Στρίγγα), which means Owl.

The Greek mythographer Boios/Boeus (Βοίος) in his work Ornithogonia describes the birth of the first Strix. Unfortunately his book is not saved, but thankfully Antoninus Liberalis’s only saved work “Metamorphoseon Synagoge” (Μεταμορφώσεων Συναγωγή), sometimes called as “Metamorphoses” has saved for us the Ornithogonia’s story of the Strix.

The Strix and the Gods

According to Antoninus Liberalis or Boios, God Ares with the daughter of the River-God Strymon, Tereine, gave birth to Thrassa. Thrassa with Hipponous (Ιππόνοος), not the homonymous son of Priam, but the son of Triballus (the King of the Triballi tribe of Thrace), gave birth to Polyphonte (Πολυφόντη), who therefore is granddaughter of Ares.

Polyphonte became very fond of Goddess Artemis and so she became follower of her and remained virgin. But this made furious Goddess Aphrodite who then forced her to fall in love and have sex with a wild bear. From this union two twin boys were born.

Artemis though, got angry with Polyphonte and she, along with all the forest’s animals, chased her until she went back to her father’s home, where her two half men and half bear twins, Orius and Agrius, were born. Because of all these hatred towards their mother and themselves, the two boys hated both Gods and humans and became cannibals.

Zeus ordered Hermes to punish them as he saw fit, and Hermes decided to dismember them. Ares objected though, in order to protect his great grandsons, and thus Hermes turned Orius into an eagle-owl and Agrius into a vulture.

He also transformed Polyphonte into a small owl “that cries by night, without food or drink, with head below and tips of feet above, a harbinger of war and civil strife to men”. Do notice that what Antoninus describes is more possible to be a bat than an owl, but still he names her “strix”. And so the first Strix was created!

Later, Horace in his “Epodes” will give to the Strix magical abilities, and Ovid will teach us that a strix may be born as a strix, or become a strix through a spell.

Also Ovid will tell the story of Striges attacking King Procas during the celebrations of the Summer Solstice and narrates how they were warded off by the use of beans and calmed down with pig meat. And this is why beans and pig meat should be eaten during the Summer Solstice. And do remember the reference to the pig as I am going to mention it again later.

So, the Latin Strix is coming from Polyphonte, what about the Albanian Shtriga?

Well, the Albanian Shtriga, and the Greek Strigla, comes from the Greek word Strigla, and Strigla is Megera (Greek Μέγαιρα, Latin Megaera), one of the three Erinyes, the “Furies”. There are several opinions on how the three of them were born, but all of them have something to do with death. Either they came to exist from the blood of Uranus when the latest was stabbed by Cronus, or they are daughters of God Pluto (Hades), or they were daughters of Acheron (Stiga), the river of the Underworld.

Megera and other creepy creatures

Now Megera is incarnation of envy and jealousy (Alecto is anger and Trisiphone is murder). Orpheus seems to consider her more fearsome and therefore he treats her a little more carefully. In his hymns to the Erinyes and Eumenides (both words refer to the same Goddesses) he describes them – among else – as moving very fast and by flying, acting in the night, with fearsome and ugly look, dark in colour, with snake-like hairs, thin, capable of changing their forms, invisible or air-thin, and also that through their eyes they destroy human flesh, that they cause paralysis and bring heavy aches.

In everyday speaking, the Italian word megera, the Greek words Megera and Strigla, and the Albanian word Shtriga all have the same meaning; an evil woman as well as an evil female witch. But what about the monsters with the same name?

Strix, Shtriga, and Strigla as monsters are almost the same as well. The main difference is that while Strix in order to attack turns herself into an owl, Shtriga turns herself into a flying insect, and Strigla would not change her form. Also Strigla is a mortal witch, while Shtriga can be either undead or human (that will become undead), and Strix is undead that pretends to be a woman.

From now on I will refer to them using the word Shtriga as whatever is going to be mentioned applies to all of them. If it is necessary, I will state it clearly.

The British writer Mary Edith Durham in her book “High Albania” gives us enough information about the nature of the Shtriga. She says that she is a vampiric woman that sucks the blood of children and the life force of both children and grown humans alike. She may live for long time in a village pretending to be a woman, while she is preparing her evil plan.

In order to catch the Shtriga, you should take the bones of the last pig (remember Ovid’s story?) you ate during the carnival and with them you should make a cross on the door of the church upon Easter Sunday, when everyone is in the church. If this is done, the Shtriga will be unable to exit the church.

It is also said that only the Shtriga can cure the evil she has caused to a person by spitting in the person’s mouth before the Sun sets the next time.

Also the Shtriga can causes great and incurable pains and aches (remember the Megera?), but in this case there is a solution if the Shtriga cannot be found in time. A mage should cut some hairs from the head and from each armpit of the victim and burn them saying a spell and the pain will vanish. I will come to the spell later in this post.

If the Shtriga sucks the blood of a person, she will go somewhere that she thinks nobody can see her, and vomit it. It is said that if you rub a silver coin in this blood and have it with you, you are safe from any Shtriga for all times.

Ovid also says that if you sprinkle around your home and on your doors blessed water and put hawthorn to your windows you’ll be safe from the Shtriga.

Later, coming to the 20th century, garlic is mentioned as well for protecting someone from the Shtrigat.

In rare cases the Shtriga will eat the flesh of her victims. Also sometimes the Shrigat do nothing more than foretell the death of a resident of a house or a relative of them, by screaming outside the house. That is also a common belief for owls. And here we can find a connection between Shtriga and the Banshee.

For those who didn’t want to leave things up to chance, offerings to the Shrigat were made. Pig meat would be the best choice. But when Pope Zacharias, through the Synod of Rome (734 A.D.), forbade all offerings to the spirits (even the ones of Angels and Christian Saints) as act of idolatry or demonolatry, this practice ended and therefore it is not very well known, although it is one of the most ancient.

Erinyes

Now, in folklore there is no suggested way in order to really kill a Shtriga. The TV series “Supernatural” states that you can kill one with a blessed bullet, but don’t count on it. As Shtriga being a vampiric entity I believe they can be terminated as all the vampires. But keep in mind that the Slavic Strzyga (which is not exactly the same thing but something alike) has two hearts and not just one.

Now, the actions of the Shtrigat and the power of the Evil Eye are considered very strongly linked. Most of the talismans that are used for protection from the Evil Eye are considered to offer protection from the Shtrigat to one level or another. Also all the spells I know to remove the problems that a Shtriga (or Shtrigë as it would be the correct grammatical form) causes are in fact spells to remove the Evil Eye. Keep in mind though, that for the Shtriga you should use spells that are Earth and Fire based and not Water and Air based, as on these elements the Shtriga has more power (maybe this is because of the Megera)

So, to perform the previous ritual, find somebody that can perform a strong evil eye removing spell. Have him/her cut some hair from your head and some from each of your armpits and then burn them while he or she chants the spell.

Finally, I should mention that Italians, and especially Venetians, believe that if a girl is born during Christmas Eve, she is, or will become, a Strix, while Greeks believe that Strigles usually eat their food (dead animals, insects, small lizards etc) on the streets, and if somebody passes and steps on their food, they curse him. Remember that they can be invisible. Also the Italian word Strega refers both to witches and Striges.

I have never come across a Shtriga or a victim of one, so I do not really know if they do exist, but the “High Albania”, as well as some other books, mention such stories as to be true. You choose!

Midsummer / Litha Spells : Glorify your Life

1
Midsummer Spells
Glorify your Life
(Or Midwinter Spells : Start Anew)
On 21st of June (June 21 2015, 16:38 Universal Time) the Sun will enter the sign of Cancer signifying the Summer Solstice (a.k.a. Midsummer, Litha etc). The Sun will be in his full glory, we will celebrate the longest day of the year. If you are living in the Southern hemisphere of Earth then this will be the Winter Solstice (or Midwinter, Yule, etc) for you, and the Sun will reborn. For both hemispheres the day will be of great power.

You can use this power to make your life better by the spell I am going to give you here. There are little differences in both cases, but the basic spell remains the same.
If you are living on the Northern hemisphere cast the spell while the Solstice is approaching, while if you are living on the Southern hemisphere cast the spell on the day of the Solstice or the next day.

What you’ll be needing:
* A White or Zodiac candle (click here to pick your appropriate Color!) to represent you
* A White candle (or a second white candle if you are using white for yourself)
* A Green candle
* A Red or Pink candle
* A Gold candle (or a second green candle)
* A Yellow candle
* Your altar candles (number and type varies according to your path, in the picture there are two as I use two white altar candle, but do as you usually do).
* Your ritual knife or a pin
* Your zodiac oil (optional)
* Frankincense essential oil or Sun magic oil (for Midsummer) or Myrrh essential oil or the Rosarium blends’ Phoenix oil, or Yule oil (for Midwinter)
* Dragon’s Blood ink or black Indian/China ink or charcoal pencil
candle magic spell glorify you life diagram pentacle Sigil of Midsummer Litha Summer Solstice
Arrange your candles according to the diagram

* A sheet of rice paper or white cardboard (rice paper has more power, cardboard is easier to be used)

* Six identical candleholders
* Incense (the same as the oil you are using)
* An incense burner and charcoal disks.
Hand draw (I know it will not be absolutely perfect but it will work better) the symbol shown in the picture using the pencil or either ink. I would suggest Dragon’s Blood ink for Midsummer and the carbon based ones for the Midwinter.
Now the symbol is a pentagram inside a Sun symbol, and not a circle, a pentagram and a dot, so first draw the Sun symbol and then the pentagram.

Prepare the altar as shown. Put the five candle holders on the five points of the star, and the sixth on the dot of the Sun symbol. Then place the zodiac, or white candle in its holder and the rest of the candles as so: 1. White, 2. Green, 3. Red or Pink (it is for love, so chose the quality you want), 4. Gold, 5. Yellow.

Take a shower. Go to the room wearing either nothing at all or some clean clothes representing the kind of life you want to live. Not your ceremonial clothes.
Now, anoint the altar candles as you usually do (or anoint them with the oil if you don’t have a constant pattern). Light the Altar candles and the incense. Take some deep breaths as the incense smoke is preparing the atmosphere.
Invoke the Solar and / or rebirthing Gods/Spirits of your choice.
Now, take your Zodiac candle and anoint it inscribe with your knife or with the pin your name and birthday. Then anoint it with your zodiac oil, if you have chosen to use one or with the other oil you are going to use. To anoint your zodiac candle (and all the others, and even the altar candles, if you have not another pattern that you usually anoint your altar candles) hand the candle with its wick towards you and anoint the candle from its middle to the wick towards you, and then reverse the position of the candle and anoint it from the middle to the bottom towards you.
Put your zodiac candle in its holder and using fire from the altar candles light it saying:
“This is me, (your name).
My spirit always burns as surely and brilliant as this flame does.”
Now pick the white candle and inscribe WISDOM on it. Anoint it with the oil (not the zodiac) as described before and put it on its holder. Light the candle saying:
“Here lights true Wisdom”.
Let your hand touching the base of the holder, and feel what the meaning of true wisdom is. When you are ready, slowly move the holder in a straight line, until it reaches your candle, saying:
“Now Wisdom moves in to become a part of me.
Let it become one with me,
so that I will always be wise and well guided”.
Now, pick the Green candle and inscribe HEALTH on it. Anoint it with the oil as described and put it on its holder. Light the candle saying:
“Here lights perfect Health”.
Let your hand touching the base of the holder, and feel the energy and meaning of perfect health. When you are ready, slowly move the holder in a straight line, until it reaches your candle, saying:
“Now Perfect Health moves in to become a part of me.
Let it become one with me,
so that I will always enjoy perfect health”.
The same way prepare the Red or Pink candle inscribingLOVE on it. Light it saying:
“Here lights Love”.
Touching the base of the holder, make clear to yourself how love should express itself to your life, being it with friendship, partnership, sexual encounters, romantic relationships and so, and so. When you are ready slowly move the holder in a straight line, until it reaches your candle, saying:
“Now Love moves in to become a part of me.
Let it become one with me,
so that I will always love and be beloved”.
Follow the same procedure inscribeWEALTH on the golden candle, and light it saying:
“Here lights Wealth and abundance”.
Same as before realize what you are summoning and while moving the candle say:
“Now Wealth and Abundance move in to become a part of me.
Let them become one with me,
so that I will always enjoy much wealth and abundance”.
Same procedure goes for the Yellow candle. The inscription is “CONFIDENCE” and lighting it you say:
“Here lights Confidence”
Book of Spells Litha Magic Midsummer
You feel the meaning of having confidence to yourself and to the ways of life and while moving the candle toward yours say:
“Now Confidence moves in to become a part of me.
Let it become one with me,
so that I always have confidence to myself,
and know that all is and always be good”.
Now take the censer and cense the candle making clockwise circle and keep repeating:
“Now my life is what I want. All is good. All is good.”
Or if it is the Midwinter say:
“Now my life starts anew. All is good. All is good”.
Continue censing the candles and repeating the phrase for as long as you need to raise the energy. When you have raised it to its pick, land it on your zodiac candle.
Let the candle burn themselves out. Never leave burning candle unattended, especially in this case that there is a paper underneath them.
Keep the rice paper or the cardboard for future use, and enjoy your glorious new life.

A Vedic Spell to Reverse Bad Luck

1

The spell I am going to give you is based on the Atharva Veda and the 18th hymn of its first book. The purpose is to drive away the misfortune and to obtain all kinds of blessings. The translator of Atharva Veda, Ralf Griffith, assumed that the blessings should be of money nature, but in fact the hymn doesn’t state that.

I am going to give you the hymn, as translated by Ralf Griffith, and then some ideas about how to empower it and how to adapt it to your pantheon or philosophy and to the folkloric beliefs of your area.

The Vedic Hymn to drive away misfortune and obtain all blessings:

So, let’s see the Hymn:

Atharva Veda, Hymn 1.18

We drive away the Spotted Hag, Misfortune, and Malignity: All blessings to our children then! We chase Malignity away.

Let Savitar, Mitra, Varuna, and Aryaman drive away Stinginess from both the hands and feet: May Favour, granting us her bounties, drive her off. The Gods created Favour for our happiness.

Each fearful sign upon thy body, in thyself, each inauspicious mark seen in thy hair, thy face, all this we drive away and banish with our speech. May Savitar the God graciously further thee. Antelope-foot, and Bullock-tooth, Cow-terrifier, Vapour-form, The Licker, and the Spotted Hag, all these we drive away from us.

How to replace the Gods:

First of all, the Gods that are summoned are Savitar, Mitra, Varuna and Aryaman. All are sons of Aditi, and therefore, all are solar deities. Now, for those serving the Universe, Savitar should be the Sun. Mitra and Varuna (keep the duet) should be Light and Darkness, or Fire and Water. Finally, Aryaman should be the Stars.

Now, although Varuna is a solar deity, and by himself is brilliant, together with Mitra, he adopts the more dark aspects, while Mitra adopts the brilliant ones. Together with Mitra they are the keepers of the Law and protectors of the World. When they are called together Mitra would symbolise, Day, Light, and Fire, while Varuna Night, Darkness and Waters (the heavenly ones).

Aryaman is more connected with the Milky Way, therefore in this incantation symbolises the Stars.

So, if you want to summon the Universal Powers, call them as we explained. If you want to change the pantheon, call the deities of your chosen pantheon according to their universal correspondence.

For the Greek Pantheon, you can choose one of these groups:

Helios for Savitar, Apollo and Artemis for Mitra and Varuna, Night or the Stars for Aryaman.

Or

Apollo for Savitar, Castor and Pollux (correctly in Greeks pronounced Polydefkis – Πολυδεύκης) for Mitra and Varuna, and Artemis for the Aryaman.

Although the second group does not obviously correspond perfectly to the Universal aspects, it corresponds better to the nature of the Hindu Gods of the hymn.

The Favour is the Holly Grace, of course.

How to change / alter the symbols of blessing and misfortune:

The symbols of misfortune are Antelope-foot, Bullock-tooth, Cow-terrifier, Vapour-form, The Licker, and the Spotted Hag. Now, for Antelope-foot Greeks would use Κατσικοπόδαρη (Goat-Foot) while English would use Padfoot. The Bullock-tooth in Greek would be Στραβοδοντού (the one who has crooked teeth), but I don’t know of a similar symbol of misfortune in England. Vapour-form can be the Ghosts. Spotted Hag could be the Shtriga. the Licker can be the Succubus and Incubus. I don’t know what about the Cow-terrifier, but chose a forth symbol of misfortune.

Finally, the first verse says “All blessings to our children then!”. Now, the Veda usually express the maximum blessing as the blessing of our children, for if the children are blessed, the parents should be blessed too. But, you can say “to our house” or “to our family”, or something alike, according to your needs.

How to use the Spell to Reverse Bad Luck:

You can use this hymn as is, whenever you need it. If you want to empower the spell do it daily for a week or three, by reading it three times each morning or each evening, while burning sandalwood and lavender.

In addition, you can read more about how to bring Protection, Wealth and Prosperity in your life in this follow up article for the Reverse Bad luck Spell!

Advanced Magic: how to Invoke Apollo and be Blessed by the Sun!

1

There is no one more suitable to invoke during the Summer Solstice / Litha / Midsummer than Apollo, the Sun God of the Greeks. Apollo’s qualities are gloriously manifested as the God of Sun. He is very benevolent in almost every aspect although he demands Virtue and Respect. You can learn more about Apollo and his Cult here!

Apollo, as the God of Sun, is suitable to invoke and summon for every Sabbath (Sabbat) especially Yule, Imbolc, Beltane, Litha and Lammas (Lughnasadh) as Apollo is linked with the Sun Circle. Moreover, Apollo is the He who Greeks called and prayed to for nearly EVERYTHING! Wealth, Health, Fame, Power, Prophecy, Magic … EVERYTHING!

The following is the traditional Invoking Method, Greeks use since the Ancient times. Orpheus the legendary Musician, Poet and Prophet of the Greek Religion wrote several Hymns / Invocations for Gods and other Deities! Here we give you the Hymn of Apollo, translated and adapted by Magical Recipes Online based on prior translations and the knowledge of our Archaeologist. This Hymn we give you is our original adaptation of the Ancient Greek one, accurate and suitable for everyone.

How to invoke Apollo?

How to summon Apollo’s powers? Feel free to adopt the following technique but remember the Orpheus said that the best way to Invoke Apollo is with Manna (Mana) which we will write soon an article on what exactly is but to give you a hint Manna is probably the extract of Boswellia Sacra, a type of Frankincense. So Light your candles, dedicate them to Apollo, light up a charcoal and put some Manna on. Let the odorous smoke fill your altar and your room.

The Invocation of Apollo can be done for:

  • Health Spells
  • Empower your Sabbath’s Rituals
  • Money Spells and Wealth Spells
  • Good Luck Spells
  • Sun Magic
  • Fire Magic
  • Divination and Prophetic Dreams Spells

The Orphic Hymn of Apollo Invoking Apollo :

Blissful Pæan, come, You who are revered glorioulsy, Memphian, Slayer of Tityus, God of health, Lycorian Phœbus, fruitful source of wealth and happiness . Spermatic, golden-lyred, patron of farmers, Titanic, Grunian, Smynthian, Slayer of Python, Delphian king: Oracle, Wild, You who bring the Light, beloved Glorious young Man, you who are the leader of the Muses, leader of the Dance, Noble and lovely, Far-darting, Archer, Bacchian, two-fold, bowman, Loxian, pure, You who took back Delos whose light-producing eye Views all within, and all beneath the sky, You whose hair is gold, whose oracles and omens are clear and sustained, Hear me entreating for the human kind (or anyone you want) Hear my prayer, and be present with delightful heart; For you survey all this boundless æther , and you look the Abundant and blessed Earth from the above, and in the darkness of the silent Night, your eyes are the Stars, You see the stable roots of the Earth, The world’s wide bounds, You are caring about all the source and the end, You make everything Bloom! It is thine all Nature’s music to inspire, With your various-sounding, harmonising lyre, Now the last string You turn, to quiver in the sweet and single melody, Divinely warbling now the highest chord; The immortal golden lyre, now touched by thee, Responsive yields a Dorian melody. All Nature’s tribes to thee their difference owe, And changing seasons from thy music flow Hence, mixed by thee in equal parts, advance Summer and Winter in alternate dance, This claims the highest, that the lowest string, The Dorian measure tunes the lovely spring . Hence by mankind, call you Pan, the two-horned God, Emitting whistling winds through you, Since to thy care and hands lies the Seal which stamps the world with forms of every kind. Hear me, blessed power of the Blissful One, and in these rites rejoice with Me (or Us), And save thy mystics with a suppliant voice.

What’s that Symbol? * Maze, Daedalus or Labyrinth?

0

Labyrinth and Maze (Daedalus)Two aspects on enlightenment

Although in everyday speech we consider these two words to have the same meaning, in spiritualism and alchemy those two symbols, labyrinth and maze (sometimes called Daedalus from the architect of the Minoan maze) have a different meaning and help us in different ways. So what’s the difference between the Labyrinth and the Maze?

The Labyrinth has one starting point, a middle area and an ending point being it the same as the starting one or opposite to it. While the routes of a Labyrinth seem to be chaotic turning other times left, and other times right, circling the centre coming sometimes closer and other times farer from the centre, in fact the route is secure. Nobody would ever get lost in a Labyrinth cause it has only one route that securely and surely will take us to the centre of the labyrinth and then out of it. We just need to follow this one route, and of course there is no other to follow anyway.

On the other hand the Maze has one or more starting points (the ones used for meditation have one), one ending point, and sometimes a middle area (especially the Minoan Maze, according to the myth, has one starting point and a middle area, but the only way out is from the beginning of it). If a middle area occurs, the way out of the Maze from there on is usually as simple as a straight line. But, inside the maze there are many routes and many choices, most of them leading sooner or later to a dead end, and always only one choice is the correct, that is the one that will lead us to the end of the Maze.

maze labyrinth Daedalus what's the difference between maze and labyrinth daedalus alchemy symbols minoic magic minoan

The Labyrinth teaches the mind to manoeuvre and to observe the situation from different points of view. As the centre is us, the divine, or anything we believe it to be, by going to the centre of the Labyrinth we are coming to a better understanding of our present situation or ourselves. By coming out of the Labyrinth we are getting released from our problems we may have and head towards a better present. Also, as the route of the Labyrinth is certain, we don’t need to try to find the solution, just trust the divine power, the flow of life, or anything we believe in to lead us, we just need to give in and surrender, and everything is going to be fine.

The Maze teaches us a slightly different lesson. The turns of the Maze also teach our mind to manoeuvre, but the variety of choices we always have teach us to see the many choices we have in every situation we may be. In every turn and every crossroad we have to choose our way, and maybe it is correct or not. Maybe we’ll have to go back, where we made a choice in order to choose now a different way of acting. If there is a middle area, finding it is the objective as the way out of the Maze then it will be easy, if there is no middle area, finding our way out of the Maze is the objective. Either way, no matter how complicated the root is, no matter how many correct and wrong choices we have made, when we will have found our way out of the Maze, we will also have found our way out of the problem we may have.

There are some Mazes that have a simple rule that if we follow it we will surely go to the end of it (or of course if we now perfectly our way to the particular Maze). In that case the Maze will have become a kind of Labyrinth, in which, although we have many choices, we know the correct one in every case.

Walking through a Labyrinth or a Maze, or even following their routes mentally on a picture of them, doing it in a slow and relaxed attitude and letting your spirit fly, is very enlightening. The objective is not to solve the Maze or get out of the Labyrinth as soon as possible. The objective is to understand yourself and your situation better and find your way to evolve!

Mars in Vedic Astrology and Lord Kuja (Mangala)

0
Vedic Astrology
 Mars and Lord Kuja (Mangala)

In Vedic Astrology planet Mars has a male nature. It also considers SunMoon & Jupiter as FriendsVenus and Saturn as Equals Mercury and Rahu as Enemies. Remember that Moon considers Mars as Equal. So, the relation of Moon towards Mars is neutral while the relation of Mars towards Moon is positive.

Mangala Angaraka Kuja Chevaai Vedic astrology
Lord Kuja
Mars’s colour is red and its stone is the red coral (and secondary all the red stones including the Sun’s ruby), its metal is copper (and also rules gold, iron and steel; in western astrology Mars’s metal is iron, and steel while copper is metal of Venus), its season is Summer and its element is Fire.

Mars owns both Aries and Scorpio, having more power over the first 12 degrees of Aries, or as a Vedic Astrologer would say the first 12 degrees of Aries is Mars’s Mooltrikona. Mars is exalted in Capricorn having its greatest exaltation on the 28th degree of Capricorn and it is depilitated in Cancer having its lowest depilitation on the 28th degree of Cancer.

Mars governs the sex organs, bladder, muscular system, head, face, the left ear and the sense of taste. It also rules the animal instincts, self confidence, power and endurance, determination, sex drive (especially for men), and inventiveness. Sometimes it also rules occultism. Mars is also symbolises the siblings, especially younger brothers.

Mars is considered malefic & gives argumentspressurecuts and accidentsdebts, and several other problems, but also gives the will power, determination and energy needed to overcome all of the problems he causes.

In the second house, Mars will be helpful in money matters but otherwise, will give problems in education, bad health (especially concerning eyes, face form and problems related with food), and bring contact with mean and unethical persons.

In the sixth house Mars will give fame and success, children, and money, unless it is related with a malefic. And finally in the tenth house Mars will be calm, giving good life and an interest in meditation.

The Gods who are associated with Mars are Lord Kuja (also under the names Mangal, Mangala, Angaraka, Bhauma), Lord Skanda (also under the name Kartikeya), Lord Narasimha (the Man-Lion Avatar of Great Lord Vishnu), and the Earth Goddess Bhumi (or sometimes the Earth Goddess Prithvi, who is possible to be a form of Bhumi or vice versa). The Graha is Lord Kuja.

There are several opinions of how Lord Kuja was born. Some consider him as son of Lord Brihaspati and some consider him as created by or incarnation of Lord Hanuman. The most well accepted theory though is that Lord Mangala is fathered by Great Lord Siva, having as Mother the Earth Goddess Bhumi (and therefore the name Bhauma, meaning son of Bhumi), without sexual intercourse.

Great Lord Siva was meditating and from his forehead three drops of sweat fall on the ground, and a fiery red and very handsome God was born, Lord Kuja.

Lord Mangala has one head, and four arms, holding a Trishula (trident), a mace, a spear and a lotus flower, but also he can hold an axe or a sword, and maybe instead of having a lotus flower he may give blessings with his forth hand. In sort, he holds three weapons and with his forth hand holds a blessing symbol or is open to bless.

Sometimes Lord Kuja is considered to be the same as Lord Skanda, but this is not correct, although there are many similarities between these two sons of Great Lord Siva, and Lord Skanda is almost as strongly connected with Mars as if he was the Graha God. I am going to post an article about Lord Skanda as soon as possible.

Some consider Lord Mangala to avoid sex and women, but this is more because of his identification with Lord Skanda, while there are many stories describing the sexual intercourses of Lord Mangala with mortal (or not) women, and also many statues in his sacred places shows him with (or in union with) his wife.

Like Lord Agni, Mangala’s vehicle is a ram (considered to be a young ram, most often of dark colour), and the upright triangle is sacred to both of them.

Yantras (Magic Sigils) of Lord Kuja (Mangal) and Lord Agni
Yantras (Magic Sigils) of Lord Kuja on the left (Mangala) and Lord Agni on the right

One should call upon Lord Kuja to:
* Avoid the malefic influences of Mars and magnify the beneficial ones.
* To gain courage and self confidence.
* To help in curing problems of the eyes and eyesight.
* To become stronger (muscular strength).
* To overcome enemies.
* To gain sexual virility as well as to undo the abuse of his own sexual energy.
* To overcome any problem.

The number of Mars is 3 so the Magic Square (yantra) of Mars starts with 3.

Yantra of Mars

The simplest mantras of Mars are:
Om Mangalaya namah(a)
Om am Amgarakaya namah(a)

Om kram kreem kraum sah Baumaya namah(a)

Repeat the mantra for one mala (108 times) or five or seven malas each time for 21 or 92 days starting on Tuesday holding, or over, the yantra and/or a red coral (or other red stone you prefer). Alternatively, perform the ritual for 21 Tuesdays. It is said that if this is done, all malefic influences of Mars will vanish.

If you prefer use the yantra with the triangle instead of the simple magic square.

Rosewater or Rose Water is an ingredient used for centuries. Essential in your Cuisine, Essential in Cosmetics, Essential in Magic ! You can find Rosewater in many stores and most of them are very nice, but why can’t we make our own one? First of all it’s very simple and also by making your own ingredients you empower the result with your desire. Lets see how to make Rose Water and how to use Rose Water!

Rosewater is used in Water Magic for many things as we can see in a while. So let’s get started.

To Prepare Rosewater We will need:

* 3 cups of Rose Petals gathered in the Morning (Preferably on a Friday Morning)
* 5 cups of Distilled Water
* 4-5 drops of Essential oil of Rose

Preparation for the Recipe of Rose Water :

  • Gather the Rose petals in the morning. This will make the Aroma more intense and will include the Morning Dew within.
  • We will only use the Petals, not the stems or the leaves. Just the Petals. If you live in a city got to your florist and ask for organic Roses. It’s the same!
  • Gather White Roses if you wish to do Peace spells.
  • Gather Pink Roses if you wish to do Beauty spells.
  • Gather Red Roses if you wish to do Love spells.
  • Gather mixed colors of Roses if you wish to do a charm for planet Venus.

Ancient Formula Recipe: How to Make Rosewater

Try to gather roses in the country were there not much pollution and not much added chemicals.  Have a walk in nature and search for roses.

When you have gathered what you want got back to your house and wash the Rose petals with much running water.  Don’t use chemicals to wash them. Only water.

  • Put the Petals in a Bowl or a Pot with Lid.
  • Put the Lid in the Fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Now Boil the Distilled Water.
  • Pour the Boiled Water on the Rose petals.
  • Cover the Bowl with the lid. We need the steam because it is enriched with the essential oil of the Rose petals. The cold lid will liquify the steams instantly and it will return to the water and fill it with the Rich aroma. You will notice that the color of the petals is fading.
  • Keep it there for 2 hours.
  • After that strain the Water and squeeze the Rose petals. Add the drops of the Essential oil of Roses for extra potency.
  • Keep the Rose Water refrigerated.
