Types of People who Steal Your Energy

Like world’s nations fighting for natural resources, human beings regularly fight with each other for energy. Unless a person is balanced and creative enough to produce their own flow of energy, people are in a constant competition for it.

It will be impossible not to encounter certain types of people who will make efforts to suck the valuable energy out of you.

Recognizing the sort of Energy Stealer is crucial in order to defend yourself against their attacks. This is literally a matter of life or death because if your energy is constantly drained you will have a hard time dealing with even the simplest task in your life and your soul will feel extremely tired.

And, if we want to be sincere, we should also see if we are the ones who steal energy from the others. We may do so unconsciously, but we may be a threat for other people around us, even for the ones we are supposed to love. It goes without saying that such a behavior is on the one hand immoral and on the other hand does not provide us with the good energy we really need. It is much better to produce our own energy by ourselves and through spiritual practices.

Which are the types of Energy Stealers?

The Terrorist

This is every kind of person that uses her or his power to steal energy from other people. They exploit their big or small authority in order to impose themselves on others. The energy terrorists can be found everywhere. They can be our teachers at the school or the professors at the College, the policemen on the streets, the bureaucrats at the city hall, our boss, our neighbors. They can even be our parents or other relatives. These people will make use of the slightest power they can exert on us to control us and gain energy. They will start yelling or giving strict deadlines and commands. They will emotionally blackmail you, if you cannot satisfy their wishes and whims.

How to stop them: It is very difficult to completely avoid persons who are in socially superior positions. Although we should not become submissive we should also be diplomatic. Remember always that these people have an authority on you in certain domains of your life, not on your whole existence. And their authority on you stops if you will stop interacting with them. Show them they should respect you because otherwise you will totally ignore them, or they will lose you.

The “Arrogants”

Arrogant people drain your energy in a very sneaky manner. They will not fight or argue with you, but they will also show they do not really care to listen to your opinion. In a working or erotic relationship, you may have to discuss issues with them, but they will pretend to be busy and they have “more important things to do” as their mantra always goes. When they are among people, they try to guide the discussion. Otherwise, they are detached. In general, if they are not the center of interest, they behave cold and aloof. They drain our energy by keeping us hanging on and building a wall which we cannot penetrate. This is of course extremely tiring if you have to work with them or you are in an erotic affair.

How to stop them: Arrogant people are difficult to change and basically, they should be avoided or left alone. When you will ignore them, they will try to get your attention back. When you will be open to them again, they will pretend to be too busy or uninterested to what you have to say. If a person in your family shows that you will not fight for their attention. You can care for them without giving them a pretext to do like they do not need you. Yet, in order not to drive them in the solitude of self-importance, try to be nurturing to them, without expecting something back or showing that you need something from them.

The Interrogator

This is a category of people who live through gossiping and criticizing whatever other people do. Usually, they do so in a disrespectful or hypocritical manner. These people drain energy by bombing you with questions and finding your weak sides and flaws which they will somehow underscore in the discussion. Ironically, they are quite secretive when it comes to their own life and they are afraid of getting open or expose themselves. Sometimes it is difficult for an honest person or an empath to block this “Inquisition”. Besides, in a friendly discussion there is no reason to be insincere or secretive.

How to stop them: Communication is about exchanging experiences, ideas and disclosing your emotions, otherwise communication is not complete. However, in front of an Interrogator, the best defense is not to feed the energy drain. The Interrogator will go only deeper and deeper with his/her questions in order to make you vulnerable. You don’t have to lie but you should be aware of the information you share about yourself. Keep the control of the discussion and do not speak about things you do not want to. If the Interrogator insists on asking about personal matters, ask them back in the similar way. This will show them in which awkward condition they bring you.

The Victims

“Poor me!” This kind of energy stealers always present themselves as eternally unlucky or unappreciated. Although they may seem sympathetic at the beginning, one can observe afterwards, that these people bear the grudge against everyone else. In fact, their attitude of playing the victim is a way to show that everyone else is a victimizer. So, everyone else should take care of them because they are responsible for their situation.

How to stop them: Some people are unprivileged, and they deserve our help. Still, some others live like emotional or social parasites. It is of course a pity for them to have such an attitude, but it is absurd to feel responsible for them. Ask them if they could help you in a particular way. Otherwise do not let your empathetic feelings victimize you. People who like to be the seen as victims should learn to face the difficulties of life and not hang on others. Being a bit critical on them will assist them, and it will also block the energy drain.

The Psychic Vampires

While the previous categories refer to energy stealers that basically act unconsciously, Psychic Vampires are usually personalities with malevolent intentions who act more systematically. Like every vampirism, the person acting like that is a victim of negative energy and also needs help. Nevertheless, it will be futile to fight alone a vampirism phenomenon, since you will need a tremendous amount of energy you do not possess. Hence, we suggest that you focus on your own protection. By stopping your own energy drain, you stop feeding the psychic vampire and you help release the victim of vampirism.

How to stop them:If you are being attacked by Psychic Vampires, you have to gather your spiritual powers for protecting yourself. A complete guide against psychic vampirism will be published soon, but here you have certain steps to block the energy drain:

  1. Shield your aura. See here how.

II. Fetch yourself a Quartz Crystal that blocks negative energy.

III. Create a Corridor of Power: This is a method to enhance your energy flows through Imagery. While in quiet place close your eyes and think of a beautiful scenery out in the nature. Afterwards see yourself going through a wide corridor. Imagine this a trip in which at every step your powers get stronger and more positive. At the end of a Corridor, you open a door. When you enter, you are released from negative energy and full of spiritual powers.

Was Church Leader Mauled by Lions trying to Prove God will Save him ?

I’m pretty sure you’ve came across these news since yesterday. It sounds legit. A mad man proclaiming himself a prophet, blinded by his faith, making a suicidal-like act only to prove he is the Chosen one. According to Ghanaweb and several other websites, a Modern self-proclaimed prophet runs at lions making a religious claim that God bestowed him – due to his faith – power over animals. Although he tried to prove that God would ultimately save him, he had his buttocks brutally mauled by lions.

Power Over Beasts

While on Safari in ‘South Africa’s Kruger national Park’, with other members of his church, Alec Ndiwane run towards a bunch of lions to prove he was a channel of ‘Lord’s power over animals’. I’m pretty sure you know where this is going. The self-proclaimed prophet spoke in ‘other languages’ and was reportedly in a trance state. Only few seconds later he proudly went after this pack of lions, who did not see ‘the power’ he preached. Well… he was Mauled by Lions…

Mauled by Lions

Soon enough, Ndiwane realized that he was at the mercy of mother nature. Hence he tried to run fast back. However, Lions run faster than humans. As Ghanaweb reported, the lion managed to get ‘a piece’ of him. He was saved because of a fireshot, armed by a game ranger, who scared the lions.

Later that day, he was taken to the Emergency room where doctors fixed his injuries. Leaving the hospital he stated “I do not know what came over me. I thought the Lord wanted to use me to show his power over animals… Is it not we were given dominion over all creatures of the earth.”

Is it True?

As it turns out it’s not. According to Hoax-Alert, Kruger National Park spokesman William Mabasa has said that park officials are not aware of any such incident taking place in the park. ‘It would have been reported to us if any of our rangers had taken part in this incident as reported.’

And the article on GhanaWeb the Daily Mail story was based on has been taken down: https://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/worldNews/Lion-nearly-killed-prophet-after-botched-miracle-421860

What Does This Teach Us?

  • There is a global War against all belief systems, trying to debunk the power of Faith. Whether this is Christian based or not, faith Does help us.
  • We don’t need Fake News to know that Fundamentalism and Blind Faith can kill you.
  • Lions Run Faster than Humans 🙂

Your Native American Zodiac Sign

The indigenous tribes of America had developed a very special spiritual connection with nature. As it is the case in the Chinese Astrology, the zodiac signs in native American tradition are exclusively animals. The Native Americans believed that at the time of our birth, the characteristics of an animal are assigned to each new-born soul and form our personality.

What is your Native American Zodiac Sign? Can you recognize yourself in it?

The Otter:

January 20th through February 18th (Northern Hemisphere) / July 22nd through August 22nd (Southern Hemisphere)

Element: Air

Color: Silver

Stone: Turquoise

Personality characteristics: Independent and caring

Compatible with: Raven, Falcon, and Deer

It largely corresponds to Aquarius

Those belonging to Otter Zodiac Sign are unconventional. Others may think that they have an odd way of thinking. This happens because they love their independence and they want to go their own way. They are often rebellious as well. This does not mean that they are egoists. Wholly on the contrary, they are loyal and attentive. Sometimes their truthful nature makes them appear rude. But this is not the truth. The Otter is just honest and direct, both in friendship and in love affairs. Otter’s honesty may make persons of this sign social outcasts in extreme cases.

The Wolf:

February 19th through March 20th (Northern Hemisphere) / August 23rd through September 22nd (Southern Hemisphere)

Element: Water

Color: Blue-Green

Stone: Jade

Personality characteristics: Emotional and generous

Compatible with: Woodpecker, Brown Bear, and Snake

It corresponds to Pisces

Contrary to our perception of the Wolf as a loner and aggressive animal, for Native Americans the Wolf is gentle, generous and nurturing. The Wolf has a strong intuition and is a real empath. Wolf’s ability to understand others’ feelings make him a great protector but also a victim of exploitation. When people pay her/his generosity with ingratitude, the Wolf may react emotionally and may prefer the solitude. But if you show your appreciation, the Wolf will become even more caring and protecting, since love is something essential in Wolf’s life.

Wolves are prone to philosophical ideas. They like reading and ponder over the meaning of life. This make them wiser but also a bit distant to daily delights of life which they consider as too trivial.

The Falcon:

March 21st through April 19th (Northern Hemisphere) / September 23rd

through October 22nd (Southern Hemisphere)

Element: Fire

Color: Yellow or green

Stone: Opal

Personality characteristics: Dynamic and Competent

Compatible with: Salmon or Owl

It largely corresponds to Aries

The Falcon is a natural-born leader. Persons under this sign can rapidly make decisions without hesitations. They have the charisma to pick up what is important and see through the fogginess of complicated circumstances. They are confident and decisive, and they never procrastinate. But sometimes they may become too opportunistic and impatient. If they are accepted as the ones who command will be efficacious in leading a group towards a common goal. But if neglected, they may act destructive. Falcons are passionate lovers. Still, their erotic relationships are full of turmoil and fiery passion. This can cause a great drama at the end of a love affair.

The Beaver:

April 20th through May 20th (Northern Hemisphere) / October 24th

through November 21st (Southern Hemisphere).

Element: Earth

Color: Turquoise

Stone: Jasper

Personality characteristics: Hardworking and reliable

Compatible with: Goose, Woodpecker, Bear

It largely corresponds to Taurus

The Beaver is the Zodiac sign you will need to make the job done. Beavers are systematic, determined and successful in what they want to achieve. Although they do not like risks, they make good businessmen. They will avoid great investments, but they will work step by step in a methodological and efficient way. Beavers can be very witty and a good company. They make good and loyal partners. Yet, at times they get cunning, nervous and reluctant to move on. This attitude influences their love life as well. Although they are extraordinary caring and loyal, they are not open-minded and playful. This may damage their erotic affairs. Still, they will always be there for you and they will care to cater for those who love.

The Deer:

May 21st through June 20th (Northern Hemisphere) / November 22nd

through December 21st  (Southern Hemisphere).

Element: Earth

Color: Yellow or Blue

Stone: Agate

Personality characteristics: Adorable and Intelligent

Compatible with: Raven or Otter

It largely corresponds to Gemini

The Deer are probably the one of the dearest Zodiacs Signs (pun intended!). They are clever, attractive and full of grace. They love communication and socializing. Their nature makes them want to be constantly in motion, that is why they love traveling or working as freelancers. They are very creative natures and they love engaging into team projects.

Deer love peace and tranquility in their personal life and avoid conflicts. These make them gentle and lovable. Their good vibes make them to be loved by everyone. Sometimes, however, they may be moody. although they can show their love, they are inconsistent, and they easily get overwhelmed if confined. This makes them unstable in a relationship. In order to keep them next to you, you should come up with new ideas and interesting enterprises.

The Woodpecker:

June 21st through July 21st (Northern Hemisphere) / December 22nd through January 19th   (Southern Hemisphere).

Element: Water

Color: Pink

Stone: Rose Quartz

Personality characteristics:

Compatible with: Snake, Wolf, and Beaver

It largely corresponds to Cancer

The Zodiac Sign of the Woodpecker incorporates the quality of Empathy. Woodpeckers are the most supportive and understanding Zodiac Sign. Their loved ones can always rely on them. For Woodpeckers, partners or family are the essence of life. They show great devotion and they will do their best to live happily with the ones they love. They also love nature and art, due to their romantic character.

Woodpeckers are obviously loyal partners and adorable parents. What they should consider is that they do not turn to emotional or possessive. Their jealousy may ruin an otherwise perfect erotic affair or family ambience. What they should do is to balance between logic and the ebbs and flows of their heart.

The Salmon:

July 22nd through August 21st (Northern Hemisphere) / January 20th through February 18th (Southern Hemisphere).

Element: Fire

Color: Red

Stone: Carnelian

Personality characteristics: Energetic and Confident

Compatible with: Owl and Falcon

It largely corresponds to Leo

The Salmon is the Zodiac Sign of inspiration. Their agility makes them move through different domains of working or social life. They are determined, focused and they contribute with enthusiasm to every team project they participate. Their enthusiasm is always spread in the place they are, and they enjoy respect and adoration.

These qualities have also some negative aspects. Salmons can be supportive and generous to those they love but they may be indifferent or toxic when annoyed. They also see the world strictly through their own needs. If they can make it to control their selfishness, they can be fascinating partners.

The Bear:

August 22nd through September 21st (Northern Hemisphere) /February 19th through March 20th (Southern Hemisphere).

Element: Earth

Color: Brown and Purple

Stone: Amethyst

Personality characteristics: Rational and intuitive

Compatible with: Goose and Beaver

It largely corresponds to Virgo

Bears are reliable, constant and dutiful. This is the Zodiac sign you can rely on. Bears are practical and do their job done in a proper way. They move forward taking secure steps. Often, they are guided by their strong intuition. Bears are also generous and have a great heart. Sometimes they tend to be slow. They do not like challenges and they do not love big changes in their life. Security and stability are what they prefer. Although caring and lovely in a relationship, they are sometimes too shy, or they tend to criticism. They have conservative characters. Yet they are honest, and they offer constancy and security, values they also appreciate on others.

The Raven:

September 22nd through October 22nd (Northern Hemisphere) / March 21st through April 19th (Southern Hemisphere).

Element: Air

Color: Blue and brown

Stone: Azurite

Personality characteristics:

Compatible with: Otter and Deer

It largely corresponds to Libra

The Raven is the Zodiac Sign of Beauty and Passion. They are very energetic, charismatic and love getting engaged into fascinating initiatives and projects. Ravens strive for harmony and try to bring this into their working place with their colleagues. Although idealists and caring, there remain self-centered. They incline to delights and that makes them unstable in erotic issues. But once they find their soulmate they will settle down. They also love new quests; therefore, they are constantly on the move. They love hard work, but they are a bit unsystematic. Yet, once in a proper environment, they can thrive. Art and culture in general are domains to which they can largely contribute.

The Snake:

October 23rd through November 22nd (Northern Hemisphere) / April 20th through May 20th (Southern Hemisphere).

Element: Water

Color: Violet or Orange

Stone: Copper

Personality characteristics: Spiritual and Impulsive

Compatible with: Woodpecker and Wolf

It largely corresponds to Scorpio

The Zodiac sign of the Snake is the symbol of Shamanism and Medicine. Snakes are spiritual and close to the secret powers of nature and thus some of the best candidates to manifest magical and healing abilities. Snakes can be spiritual leaders, doctors or persons that can inspire and assist. They are multi-taskers, flexible and intellectually outstandingly competent. Snakes have secretive characters. This makes them attractive and mysterious. Nevertheless, there is some darkness in this secrecy. While they can form wonderful and deep relationships, their reactions may be emotional, violent and revengeful. What Snakes should learn is the lesson of forgiveness.

The Owl:

November 23rd through December 21st (Northern Hemisphere) / May 21st through June 20th (Southern Hemisphere).

Element: Fire

Color: Gold or Black

Stone: Obsidian

Personality characteristics: Adventurous and Independent

Compatible with: Falcon and Salmon

It largely corresponds to Sagittarius

The Owl is the Zodiac sign of those who seek knowledge. Like owls flying through the darkness, the persons under this sign want to understand the secrets of our world and illuminate the society. Owls are great teachers, scientists, artists and philosophers. They are charming individuals who exert great influence upon others. Owls are great orators and therefore they are also active in politics. Their erotic life is intense, sometimes even dramatic, and they love music and dancing. On the other hand, some Owls may use their intellect in a malevolent manner. Due to their intelligence, their acts turn to be diabolical and immoral. In their sex life they may tend to exaggerations.

The Goose:

December 22nd through January 19th (Northern Hemisphere) / June 21st through July 21st (Southern Hemisphere).

Element: Earth

Color: White and Silver

Stone: Quartz

Personality characteristics: Ambitious and Serious

Compatible with: Beaver, Bear and Raven

It largely corresponds to Capricorn

Persons under the Zodiac Sign of Goose are reliable and methodological. You can trust them in order to get a job done. Geese are ambitious as well. They adore team working and they could not work alone. Their spirit of collaboration is one of their major assets and that is why many Geese can be found as executives in the business world. The dark side of this quality however is that Geese are easily dependent on others. Out of the formation, they feel lost and disoriented, exactly like a goose out of her gaggle. This is also true for their erotic affairs. Geese create strong bonds but are afraid to break out of malfunctional relationships.

How to Find Your Totem Animal

In this Scandinavian Town you are forbidden to Die

Death is inevitable, isn’t it? Definitely, unless some bureaucrats forbid you to die. Hilarious? Well, yes and no. Believe it or not, in the Norwegian town of Longyearbyen death is legally not allowed. And anyway, if you are going to break the law the prohibition nevertheless, you are definitely not going to be buried there.

Why so?

Longyearbyen is the largest settlement and the administrative centre of Svalbard, a group of islands. These belong to Norway, but they are much away from the Norwegian mainland and very close to Northern Pole. Apparently, due to its geographical position, Longyearbyen is one of the coldest towns in the world.

The residents of the coal-mining town not only have to deal with the harsh climate but also with an additional number of difficulties. Children develop mobility problems because they have to wear heavy clothes constantly. And bears threaten the local population but still people should now shoot them unless their life is in real danger, which is good (besides, bears were there before humans!). Cats are also prohibited, by the way, in order to protect the arctic birds.

Longyearbyen.
Photo: Tommy Dahl Markussen

To this list we add the fact that people are banned from dying and get buried in the cemeteries. Therefore, the last burials took place there about 70 years ago.

The reason about this bizarre law is that because of the permanent frost of the ground, buried bodies do not follow the regular decomposing process. Hence, the corpses may carry viruses that could threaten the health of the local population.

And this is actually not a folly of the local authorities. The graveyard in the town holds a number of victims from 1918 who were killed by the Spanish flu, which killed over 100 million worldwide. When excavated, some of the bodies still hosted the virus. So, the danger is real.

For this reason, unless because of an accident, people are sent to the mainland in order to pass by.

Prohibition of Death, then and now

The Norwegian town is not the only place where death is prohibited. Even in antiquity, similar laws were enforced.

In Ancient Greece, both giving birth and dying was prohibited on the island of Delos. The island was considered to be the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. It was a sanctuary of great spiritual importance. Therefore, after the 5th c. the entire island was purged of all dead bodies, and it was forbidden for anybody else to die or give birth on the island. Similar is the case of the Japanese island of Itsukushima, a sacred location in Shinto belief where a mostly venerated Shrine stands.  Since purity is an important concept for the Shinto priest, the island should remain clean from blood and death. Burials are still prohibited on the island.

In modern times, mayors in Brazil, France and Spain placed a ban on death. Usually, the absurdity of that law was a sort of protest against the central authorities for not constructing new cemeteries or for similar reasons.

There is also an urban legend that in the United Kingdom, deputies are not allowed to die in the Palace of Westminster, the British Parliament. Yet, this is just a myth.

Death with Interruptions

What would happen then if Death would suspend his (or her) duties? In his novel Death with Interruptions, The Portuguese author José Saramago provides a sarcastic narration about what happens in a fictive Catholic country where the Grim Reaper decides to cease all deaths. What challenges would a death of Death pose to official religion, morality and even the normal function of a society? Worth reading!

Saharan dust turns Greece into Mars

Do you know the Greek island of Crete? Most of you definitely do. Those who don’t should better check it on a map. Crete is a beloved tourist destination for millions of tourists from the whole world.

The site Visit Greece advertises Crete with this plain caption: Crete simply has it all!

Crete is the largest island in Greece, and the fifth largest one in the Mediterranean Sea. Here, you can admire the remnants of brilliant civilizations, explore glorious beaches, impressive mountainscapes, fertile valleys and steep gorges, and become part of the island’s rich gastronomic culture. Crete is, after all, a small universe teeming with beauties and treasures that you will probably need a lifetime to uncover!

According to Trip Advisor, Crete scores the 5th position in the 2018 list of world’s top destinations. Just have a look on this picture of the amazing Elafonissi beach and you will understand why.

The pinky Elafonissi beach on Crete (photo from https://expat-almanac.com/2013/07/19/treasure-island/)

One should not miss the fact that Crete was home of the Minoan Civilization, the earliest significant one in Europe. And the Civilization where the most renowned Labyrinth existed, according to mythology.

The journey of the Saharan dust

While Crete is a paradise on earth during the summer season, a phenomenon made the landscapes and the cityscapes of the island look like scenes taken from Apocalypse. Every director would have been extremely glad to shoot in this ambience.

So, what happened? Two days ago, the locals and the visitors of the island confronted themselves with the arrival of a cloud of Saharan dust. Crete is the southern part of Greece and it is close to the African continent. The phenomenon is not unknown to the Cretan population. When windy, the dust can cross the Mediterranean and reach the island. However, this time the Saharan dust really let rip. Scientists observed that the dust cloud was exceptionally thick this time, as the satellite photo below indicates.

Enormous amounts of Saharan dust across the central and eastern Mediterranean, as seen from space today, March 22, around noon CET. Image: NASA Terra MODIS. Taken from: http://www.severe-weather.eu/news/crete-island-choking-in-saharan-dust-today-march-22-2018/

Because of the travelling dust,  the Saharan visitor covered every corner on Crete. This gave the atmosphere a bizarre reddish-orange color and the beautiful island looked like hit from nuclear weapons or something like that. The impression it provided was fairly ghostly!

The dust travelled further in the north and reached the capital of Greece, Athens. Parthenon, the world famous ancient temple, was covered by the Saharan dust as well, as it has been reported.

The meteorologists warn that the phenomenon will reoccur tomorrow (25.03). Good news then for those who want to shoot more spooky pictures!

Choose a Sun as Your Emblem – See what it Means

If you were about to create your flag, by choosing a Sun, which one would you pick? Which one describes you best? Each Sun is an archetype symbol, which is associated with a Magical Force. Emblems, were and still are chosen (although now we call them logos) to represent the force which stands behind who we are. Our true nature and our deepest aspirations. So which one would you pick?

Choose a Sun as Your Emblem - See what it Means

1. The Sun of Illumination

This is the Sun which corresponds to an ancient Greek Symbol, the Star of Vergina, mostly known as the Star of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedonia, the land of Alexander the Great. The Star of Vergina, is God Helios (Sun God) himself.

It represents our Soul’s Wisdom as a powerful Weapon against the Darkness. If you chose this Sun, what you are striving for is Knowledge and Clarity. In your past life you may have lived close to great King whom you wisely consulted. Sometimes you may be stern in your decisions but these are characterized by the Spirit of Justice. You are a natural born leader in any case.

Athena Goddess of Wisdom, has the Sun of Vergina on her Shield. Wisdom is the Greatest Weapon and Protection

2. The Sun behind the Clouds

This is the Sun of modesty. Although you shine, he does not manifest his Powers to their whole extent. If you chose this Sun as your emblem, you hide great powers inside you. You have all qualities to become a great person. But there is something that hampers your development. Be honest with yourself and revome every obstacle so that you can shine in your whole brilliance. Remember the Latin proverb: Non Velat Umbra Diem “The Clouds will not cover the Sun”.

3. The Sun of Chaos

One of the most potent yet difficult Suns. This Sun represents our infinite Chaotic powers which unfortunately cannot be easily harnessed. (See our Spell of Infinity Mirror for help).

Chaos is a powerful Power. It can be creatice or destructive. Embrace the Chaos inside you, as the whole Universe does. We are a result of a thousand different forces. Make peace with these forces and they will help you. Think positively about its potential and set a good goal in order to remain focused on it.

4. The Burning Sun

This is warmest and most passionate Sun. Surely, you have tremendous amounts of energy which nevertheless cannot easily be directed. Unfortunately, on many occasions you may spend much of your valuable energy on excesses like alkohol, gambling or futile love stories. Beware! In all your beauty, you may be self-destructive like Phaethon the son of Helios who could not drive the sun chariot of his father and he set the earth ablaze. According to another versions of the myth, Zeus killed him before he plays havoc on earth.

Use this tremendous energy of yours on art and other creative activities. You have a huge potential on which you can capitalize. If you do so, success is guaranteed.

sun incense
Use the Sun’s Incense to call upon the powers of Apollo for Healing, Prophetic powers, Love and Magic.

5. The Sun of Destruction

This Sun reminds us of a Sauwstika rotating anti-clockwise. Unlike the Armenian Eternity Sign and simlar to the first Mandala we presented in this article, you are a Destroyer. This is not necessarily a negative attribute. A creative power could act in a more effective way, when a destructive power has paved the way in order to remove what should fade away. There is no Rebirth without Death. But be careful! Before you act, you should be aware of what you are aiming at. Don’t destroy without being able to rebuild. At best, you should combine your powers with a Creator, being a co-worker, a comrade or a partner.

6. The Sun of Primordial Waters

This is the Sun of Illusions. You are remarkably open-minded and you have extraordinary ideas and thoughts. Everything appears to be possible for you. This can be very inspirative for you and the others around you. You also have an erotic attitude which makes you fairly attractive. Yet, you often become unrealistic or even delirious. Afterwards you get disappointed because of your high expectations. You also may tend to experiment with hallucinatory drugs.

What you should do is to find a project that matches you. You would enjoy working by the sea, in a gallery or in a theatre. You can create a vivid and colourful world around you as long as you understand that life is not withour responsibilities and difficulties.

7. The Sun of Creation

Contrary to 5, this Sun is closer to a Swastika rotating clockwise. you are the Creator that appears where Chaos and Disaster had prevailed before. You have tremendous creative powers. You also have many tasks. Honor and Morality are values you respect. Sometimes, you are too much devoted to your duties that you neglect your own self. This is something you should avoid in order not to spend all your powers at once. People love you but sometimes think you are a bit distant. Family and home are important for you.

8. The Sun of Sacred Geometry

This is a Sun that can be connected with esotericism and spirituality. Everything inside you comes from the power of harmony and divine symmetry. Genuine Beauty is what you are seeking for. Reading about ancient cultures is an activity you adore. Communication with the Spiritual World is possible for you. You also have the ability to practice magic and cast spells. You also have the powers of Intuition, Empathy or even Telepathy at your disposal. This is a great asset undoubtedly. Just be careful not to become too fragile emotionally. You may sometimes seem too naive to the others because of your pure nature. That could make you vulnerable, therefore protect your self from malevolent intentions.

After you have done the Test, enjoy this beautiful song from the Neofolk Band Of The Wand And The Moon.

What is the secret of the oldest Yogi?

Tao Porchon-Lynch is a 99 years old lively and absolutely healthy lady of French-Indian origin. While many of her peers should be retired since several years, Tao is an active yoga master who still teaches six to eight classes in New York.

This amazing woman started practicing yoga 70 years ago. She discovered yoga when she was eight years in India. As a young girl she got so excited by the dexterity of the yogis that she wanted to imitate them. As she stated in an interview with Guinness World Records, “I wanted to do the amazing things that they were doing with their bodies”.

The beautiful model and actress that became a yoga teacher

In an early age, Tao Porchon-Lynch’s good looks and talent gave her the chance to work as in the fashion industry, even receiving a price for “the Best legs of Europe”.

After the war, she worked as an actress in England, France and the USA (under contract to MGM). In the 60’s and 70’s she wrote screenplays and documentaries. Due to her familiarity with India, she experienced and recorded events of the modern history of this enormous country in a way that few Westerners could witness. A fruit of her knowledge on India was the documentary “To Light A Candle”. This is about the 100-year-old philanthropist, Welthy Fisher and her work in education and literacy in India.

The great turning point though occurred in 1967 when Tao decided to dedicate herself to yoga. Since then, she has been teaching yoga all over the world. In 1976 she was one of the founders of the Yoga Teachers Alliance, now known as the Yoga Teachers Association. In accordance with her previous activism in India, she also participated in the Yoga for Peace International Peace Conference. This took place in 1995 in Israel.

Her daily morning mantra

Tao’s daily mantra is “There Is Nothing You Cannot Do”. Every new day is for her a new challenge to become better and more creative. As she states it:

“When I wake up in the morning I say to myself, ‘this is going to be the best day of my life’. I don’t want to wake up and think, ‘oh I have to do this, oh I have to do that’. I don’t believe in that at all. I really and truly believe, that whatever you put in your mind materializes.”

When she is asked how yoga has enlightened her way, she responds:

“It taught me first, how to breathe, how to look at things in life, don’t jump to conclusions – feel what’s going on inside of you and determine if it’s worth spending time bemoaning things that seem wrong. I don’t want to sit there and think about the bad things that have happened. I am only interested in what I can do.”

A recognized author and an ageless source of inspiration

The list of her endeavors and deeds is long. Along with Yoga and her past career, Tao has also become a famous author. She published an autobiography called Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master. This won a 2016 IPPY Award and 2016 International Book Awards in three categories including Autobiography, Spirituality and Best Cover Design: Non-Fiction. Her newest book has the title Shining Bright: Quotes and Images to Inspire Optimism, Gratitude & Belief in Your Limitless Potential. She is also preparing a book about her memories from India.

To complete the list, Tao is also a Wine enthusiast! She is the publisher and editor-in-chief of the wine appreciation magazine, The Beverage Communicator.

Joy and the spark of energy are the secrets of success

Tao is a cheerful person with a beautiful and gentle smile on her face. Her principle is to let the sunshine into life in order to unfold our full human potential.

What we should do is to harness the power within us. In her yoga lessons she teaches discipline and control of the body and mind. According to her yoga philosophy, what we should do while we practice a certain yoga position is to tap into the primal spark of energy that all of us receive from the universe. This is something that every human being can do irrespective of religious beliefs. And this is what connects us with the rest forms of life on our planet.

On this page you can follow the news about this wonderful and inspiring woman.

A free course on Witchcraft

Knowledge is power, and we know that. Yet, when it comes to witchcraft and to other spiritual activities, what we define as ‛knowledge’ cannot only be the logical reasoning of the mainstream academic stuff. The Witchy Wisdom cannot be acquired only through books and lessons, no matter how important these are. It also demands emotional intelligence, insightful thinking and strong intuition.

All these qualities are innate to a person. But they should get activated somehow. Literature on spells, rituals and spirituality definitely can trigger our interest to achieve a higher level of knowledge on witchcraft. The same could happen if we study the history of magic. This connects us with sisters and brothers of the past who transmitted their wisdom and had to confront themselves with prejudices and prosecution.

This is where academic historical research can contribute to our magical abilities. And nowadays, we are lucky enough to have access to e-courses that are provided by renowned universities.

An educated witch is a good witch!

An exciting e-course that you can follow is offered by the University of Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain). the title of the course is Magic in the Middle Ages. According to the description, scholars present several interesting themes concerning medieval magic in text and videos. The topics include Magic & Heresy, from Magic to Witchcraft, Magic in Islam, Astrology & Geomancy.

The course promises that the participants will overcome their prejudices about Magic and Middle Ages. They will be able to make a distinction between Good and Evil Magic as well as trace the historical stages that led to modern Witchcraft.

The course is offered by Coursera and it is free, unless you want to acquire an official certificate. In any case, there are no restrictions to the material access in the free course version.

MRO is your School of Witchcraft!

This e-class completes the overall academic research on Witchcraft. The list of publications issued by Universities is long and the work is educative. And there is even a peer-reviewed journal on that, called Magic, Ritual, and Witchcraft!

But as we mentioned, without believing in the Witchy Wisdom, it will be impossible to make progress as a witch or a mage. So, do not stick in the mainstream research and follow our ongoing lessons on Spells, Rituals and Witchcraft practices. The Persian New Year: The Inner Fire of an Ancient Religion

Today (21.03.2018) the Persians and other Iranians around the world will wish to each other “happy 1397”! The number of the year should not deceive you: the celebration of the Persian New Year goes back many centuries before the beginning of the Western Common Area. The reduced date is due to several modifications that took place in modern times.

The Persian New Year is called Nowruz in Persian (Farsi) a word that literally means “new day”. It is of course no coincidence that the Persian New Year is celebrated at the very moment vernal equinox occurs. Nowruz is a festivity with roots to the pagan past of the ancient land of Iran.

Although nowadays Iran hits the headlines as a country of strong Islamic faith and fervent anti-American resentment, Iran and its people are much more than that. The main ethnic group, the Persians, speak a language which is quite distinct from the neighboring Arabic. In fact, Persian (or Farsi) is an Indo-European language, relative to English, German, Greek, Latin, Sanskrit and so on. Even the name ‘Iran’ actually means “(the land) of the Aryans”!

Nowruz, and the Spring Equinox, take place tomorrow at 12:15 pm (New York Time) or 16:15 UTC. The Iranians, celebrate the New Year with lavish banquets. The days before a good spring house cleansing and shopping take place. The last Wednesday before the Nowruz Iranians light bonfires called Chaharshanbe Suri, roughly meaning ‘Reddish Wednesday’.

The Zoroastrianism

Despite the fact that the Islamic government of Iran does not approve of these festivities, these are deeply rooted to all Iranians, irrespective of their faith.

The majority of Iranians follow the Shia branch of Islam. A small community, which numbers some tens of thousands of believers (around 25.000), belong to the original ancient religion of Iran. Its name is Zoroastrianism. This is where Nowruz festivity also stems from. Although Zoroastrianism is just a minimal community in today’s Iran, it was once the principle religion of the ancient Persian kingdoms. It is also the religion that has influenced the traditions and the folklore of the Iranian people the most.

Due to the diaspora of the Zoroastrians, the majority of them is outside Iran. There is an important community in India of about 50.000 believers. Worldwide, the number of Zoroastrians is estimated at about 190.000 adherents.

Ahura Mazda and Zarathustra

The designation ‘Zoroastrianism’ comes from the name ‘Zoroaster’, an ancient Greek rendition of the name of Zarathustra. You have probably heard of Nietzsche’s masterpiece Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Well, like in the modern book, Zarathustra was considered to be a prophet who preached the truth of Ahura Mazdâ, the greatest deity in the Iranian pantheon. From the name of the principle God, the religion is traditionally called mazda-yasna, which literally means “he who sacrifices (performs a ritual of offerings) to Ahura Mazdâ.”

Contrary to Jesus or Mohamed, Zarathustra is not a historical figure, in the sense that we do not have reliable records about his physical existence. According to the tradition, he brought the truth of Ahura Mazdâ to the mortals at the beginning of time.

But what is the truth of Ahura Mazdâ? Contrary to other Pagan religions of Eurasia, Zoroastrianism displayed a strong duality between the Good and the Evil. Ahura Mazdâ conducts an eternal war against the Evil Spirit, the Angra Mainyu and the Old Gods, the daêwas. This fight began with the creation of this world. While Christian theologians tried to explain the root of Evil in a world in which God is omnipotent, for Zoroastrians the Evil is part of the world that will be however defeated at the end.

“Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds”

The role of humans in this fight is to assist Ahura Mazdâ in his war against the Evil by thinking good thoughts, uttering good words and doing good deeds.

These three principles stand on Faravahar, a symbol representing a “guardian angel” (Fravashi) that can be found on the Zoroastrian temples in and outside Iran. It is a presentation of the “winged-sun”. It is a symbol of great power and it serves also as a manifestation of (non-Muslim) Iranian nationalism.

According to the way they act, people may enter the paradise or get into hell. However, at the end of times, all people will live in paradise. Therefore, hell is a sort of Purgatory.

In the theology of Zoroastrianism, one can see some thoughts that became fundamental in Gnosticism later.

Mithra & Anâhitâ

There are two more important deities on the “good” side.

Mithra is a Sun deity that fights the darkness in this world, literally and metaphorically.

Anâhitâ is the heavenly river, presumably the Galaxy (Milky Way). She is also the divinity of the Waters, an element that plays an important role in Zoroastrian rituals (along with fire). She is the greatest female deity associated with fertility, healing and wisdom.

The Fire temples and the Cosmic Order

The battle against the Deception and Lie demands an active participation to the rituals of the religion. The Rituals take place in places of worship called “Fire Temples”. Holy Fire (Atar) is central is the main means of spiritual purification. The ritual is called Yasna. The process of the rituals is basically described in Gathas. These books were written in the Avestan language after centuries of oral transmission. Avestan is a language close related to the ancient Indian language of Vedic and Sanskrit.

The Holy Fire is a manifestation of Ahura Mazdâ and His Asha, the Cosmic Order. Asha is a concept of great importance. The translation ‘Order’ does not cover all connotations that the term has in this religion. Like the Greek term Logos, Asha encompasses theological, cosmological and moral concepts.

So, in case you have Persian friends, don’t forget to wish them “Nowruz mobarak!”, a Happy New Persian Year. And happy Spring Equinox to everyone!

There is a very interesting short academic introduction available on Internet from the lectures of Prof. Prods Oktor Skjærvø at Harvard.

The scholarship on the topic is evidently large.

The Infinity Mirror Spell: Arouse the Creative Chaos within

Our community knows that mirrors have strong spiritual powers. Making and Using a Magic Mirror is a task that each witch and mage should do for a fully-fledged magical performance. Through Magic Mirrors we are able to contact spirit guides, practice divination, for ritual invocation and evocation and spellcraft. And much more!

But not only magic mirrors can be used for witchcraft. “Regular” mirrors are also objects of great spiritual energy. Some, like the Argentinian author J.L. Borges, may find mirrors to be intimidating. As he wrote in his poem called “Mirrors”:

Today at the tip of so many and perplexing

Wandering years under the varying moon,

I ask myself what whim of fate

Made me so fearful of a glancing mirror.

Surely, we should not be afraid of mirrors. Yet, it is valuable to be aware of their powers in order to take advantage of their magical properties.

The Infinity Mirror

Have you ever seen two mirrors reflecting each other? If in parallel positions, a pair of mirrors invokes the impression of an infinite space. As children it has been a fascinating fact. And even for artists, what is called the Infinity Mirror effect can be source of inspiration.

Just think about the fact that the seas of our “Blue Planet” is to a certain extent a reflection of the skies. So, a major part of our planet is a sort of a mirror. Or think of a smaller lake nested inside a mountain ridge how it reflects its surroundings. And metaphorically, our encounters are often a reflection of our own self. So, mirrors are everywhere. And when two mirrors face each other, a whole universe of reflections emerges.

The Creative Chaos within us

Putting two mirrors in parallel position creates a space of intensive energy. This energy is initially neutral. This means that it is not positive or negative itself. The “inter-mirror” field is charged by the ambience and what is present inside it.

This is why we are able to conduct magic utilizing the Infinity Mirror effect. Our purpose is to enhance our creative and emotional powers.

There is something inherently erotic in the usage of mirrors. Most people like observing their sexual intercourse on a mirror, because this permits us to have a better view of the bodies. Hence, we can embrace this energy. The parallel mirrors will back up our efforts for a general spiritual growth.

For preparing the Infinity Mirror Spell, we need the following conditions and objects:

Two mirrors. It would be ideal to find big ones so that your whole body could be reflected. If this is not possible, choose two smaller mirrors, but big enough so that reflect a part of your upper body. A silver frame around the mirrors would strengthen the effect of the spell but it is not necessary.

You will need three candles, preferably yellow or orange. Yellow is the color of creativity, inspiration and for developing magic powers. Orange is the color of intellect, enthusiasm and stimulation. The candles should emit enough light so that you can see yourself in the mirror.

Select a date in which the moon is in waning phase. This may sound contradictory for an act of spiritual growth but since we call upon Infinity and Chaos, we strive for controlling these powers within us and not releasing them. You should think the whole process as a silent deep to things we already conceal inside us.

On a paper, write down your wish to expand your creation and abilities. Use your own words but do not write too much. One or two sentences suffice.

The Spell

In a dim or dark room with no sun light put the mirrors in parallel. If you are standing, place the candles on a low table, if you are sitting in front of you. Two candles should point to each mirror and the other one towards you. The candles should be clearly visible in the mirrors. The written Spell can be put in the middle between the candles.

On both mirrors draw a symbol that represents you. The Infinity Symbol is what would match on the occasion, but you can select another one as well.

Stand or Sit in a way in which your face and your upper part is reflected in the mirrors. Undress your upper part.

Start meditating. Think of yourself as something limitless, something that expands. This feeling should come from inside to the ambience. Maybe being slightly intoxicated (for example with a glass of red wine) would help.

Afterwards turn your head towards the one mirror and observe the endless reflections of your face. Turn around slowly towards the other mirror. Then look straight ahead and feel this immensity within you.

Close your eyes and try to release an erotic feeling but, if possible, without having intercourse images in your head. It should be an abstract sensuality. You can caress your head and your upper body.

Take some time thinking of your spirit as travelling through the mirrors and coming back to you. Don’t stress things, just think of your self as travelling inside an endless universe in which you are always the center. When you re-open your eyes, have a look on the symbols on the mirrors and ponder over the Spell you have written down. This is a silent Spell, therefore you don’t have to utter it.

Secret Teachings hidden in Chess

Chess is unique among board games. It is a highly sophisticated game that demands knowledge, concentration and creativity. Although the rules for moving the pieces are specific and limited, the possible combinations are countless. Or almost countless. According to a calculation, which is called Shannon number, the possible chess games reach the inconceivable number 10120. As this video tells us, this number implies that, actually, there are more possible chess games than atoms in the observable universe!

In its complexity and simplicity, chess is quite like our lives. The rules are basically fixed, the actors (the other pieces) as well. There is a hierarchy, there are goals, there are enemies, physical or mental. Still, the way we deploy our pieces and we conduct our game varies among each individual. There are dull games, there are wrong openings, there are great strategies, there is loss and victory. But mostly, chess is like life since each time every game is different from any other that has been played. No two lives are identical. And like in chess, our success depends on the way we make our movements.

No doubt that life is ever more complex than chess. Besides, chess is just a game whereas life is full of emotions and erratic events. But it is one that lucidly captures the interaction of so many factors. And if we ponder over the philosophy of the game, chess can also give us some important hidden teachings and life lessons. Here are some of them:

Every movement is important

During the game, an error can cost us the whole match. Surely, in life we can unmake errors and bad decisions. Yet, this costs us time, energy and resources. Take your next step wisely. Like in chess, think twice and contemplate what chain of consequences this step may cause. In saying that, it is not about being indecisive or less spontaneous and intuitive. It is more about having control over your own movements.

Logic without phantasy is nothing

You may learn openings, tactics, attacks and the like by heart. Yet, victory will not come only with copying what others have already done. There will be a point in which you must combine movements in your own way and come up with something totally novel. This applies in the case of academic education or art. If you just copy others, you will never become a winner.

Practice makes perfect

Well, being perfect would literally mean you would be a world champion but anyway, you get the point here. Even if you are highly intelligent and the smartest person around, you will not make it to beat someone who has practiced a lot. An ancient Greek proverb was saying that ‟only by playing the guitar, a guitarist becomes a guitarist”. Talent is essential, but it cannot develop itself without practice. Just keep on playing or doing the things you want to master.

A pawn can become powerful, a king is naked

If you play the chess, you know the rule that a pawn reaching the other edge of the board can transform into another piece of greater strength such as a queen. Similarly, a king without pieces protecting him is absolutely vulnerable and unable to win the game alone. You know what they say about destiny, and it is true. We cannot change our birthplace, our parents and many other conditions. But we can make the best out of the circumstances and reach something better.

Women are powerful

Is it a coincidence that Queen is the strongest piece on the chess board? Not really, we think. Chess would be a men’s world, should the Queen not be of such a great importance for this game. This is a good reflection of our own life scenery. Structures are patriarchal but without the help of the female side, there is no victory!

See the big picture

We also said before that forethought of our movements is crucial for winning. Chess is a sequel of interrelated events. Some things happen because of our game opening ten movements before, for example. And the position of each single piece is decisive for the outcome of the game. Even the absence or the inability of a piece to intervene plays a role.

In this sense, chess is a game of meditation. It is a frame, a small universe that we understand, when we can observe it in its entirety and see the correlations between all elements and factors.

Therefore, next time enjoy a game of chess on a computer or with a good friend having these considerations in your mind. This will make your game a spiritual experience and a life lesson.

And for those who love literature, listen to the voice of T.S. Eliot reading his poem “A Game of Chess”, the second part of his masterpiece “The Waste Land”.

Let your children in Mother Earth’s hands

Beware: This is NOT an article against conventional (Western) medicine. It is not an article that supports the anti-vaccination conspiracy theories. And we would never encourage someone not to pay a visit to the doctor.

Unfortunately, many new-age circles dealing with esoteric and spiritual topics may discard mainstream medicine altogether. But this is not only an absurdity. It is also a perilous trend that could cause the death of someone who uncritically adopts these theories.

The development of western medicine itself in the last century has been life-saving for millions of people. Just think about diseases such as tuberculosis or syphilis that are vanished today due to the contribution of modern medicine. Besides, we should not forget that Western Medicine has its roots to the rituals of the Ancient Deities of Healing and Alchemy. As Dr. Jenny Rampling pointed out:

Strict boundaries between alchemy and what we now call ‘chemistry’, ‘science’ or ‘medicine’ did not exist in early modern Europe.

Hence, there is much magic in modern medicine. And there is no reason to draw a distinction between mainstream and alternative medicine, because the one could complete the other.

The problem is consumerism, not medicine

The problematic point with modern medicine is not its findings and practices. These can save our lives in critical moments and that is what they do daily. Therefore, do not pay heed to extreme “opinions” that suggest you avoid the doctors. On the contrary, you should close your ears to these immediately.

The problem with modern medicine is the exaggerations. We tend not to consult the medicine but to consume it. A sad example of this phenomenon is the overuse of antibiotics which may lead to antibiotic-resistant hospital infections. This practically means that due to this misuse of antibiotics we may not be able any more to deal with certain diseases. Antibiotic resistance is indeed one of the world’s most pressing health problems.

The fact that may parents may even demand an antibiotic prescription for a simple cold. And the doctors may surrender to this wish of the parents. Yet, this is exactly the root of the problem. As this article points out:

Taking antibiotics for colds and other viral illnesses not only won’t work, but it can also have dangerous side effects — over time, this practice actually helps create bacteria that are harder to kill.

Frequent and inappropriate use of antibiotics can cause bacteria or other microbes to change so antibiotics don’t work against them. This is called bacterial resistance or antibiotic resistance. Treating these resistant bacteria requires higher doses of medicine or stronger antibiotics. Because of antibiotic overuse, certain bacteria have become resistant to even the most powerful antibiotics available today.

Hygiene is good, but don’t be overprotecting

Having clean hands, taking frequent showers, brushing our teeth is part of the education that children should acquire from their parents. And hygiene will help them avoid the transmission of several diseases apart from being neat and smelling good!

The thin line here however has to do with the fact that some parents are overprotecting and keep their children away from whatever could be supposed to be a source of “dirt”, which actually means a source of various bacteria.

Still, early exposure to these bacteria is the best way for the children to build up a resistant organism. This are the findings that are presented in the work Let Them Eat Dirt: Saving Our Children from an Oversanitized World. The authors, the microbiologists B. Brett Finlay and Marie-Claire Arrieta not only suggest that contact to bacteria is crucial for the strengthening of the immune system. They also claim that the lack of exposure to microbes gives rise to diseases such as obesity, asthma and even autism!

Let them eat Dirt!

In this interview the authors explain their “hygiene hypothesis”:

Epidemiological evidence shows that kids who are growing up on a farm environment have way less chance of developing asthma. Of course, you cannot just pick up your things and become a farmer, but what this suggests is that living in an environment that is less clean is actually better. The same is true for owning a pet, specifically a dog. Let your baby safely play with dogs.

Studies have also shown that cleaning everything that goes in baby’s mouth increases their chances of asthma. The incidence of developing asthma is decreased if the pacifier is cleaned in the parent’s mouth. And all of this points to the fact that we are just living too clean, to a point that it is not beneficial. Hygiene is crucial to our health. We should not stop washing our hands, but we should do it at a time when it is effective at preventing disease spread — before we eat and after using the restroom. Any other time it is not necessary. So if your child is out in the backyard playing with dirt, you do not need to remove that dirt. There’s no benefit from doing so. There has to be a balance between preventing infection, which is still a real threat in society, but also promoting this microbial exposure that is healthy.

Nature is wise (and so are we)

As witches and mages, we feel once again justified! In our recent article Being a witch is healthy (and sexy!), we saw why contact to nature is beneficial for our well-being. Witchcraft is exactly the wisdom of being in harmony with nature and the reasons why it is so is again backed up by recent researches.

Therefore, go out and cast your spells and let your children touch the soil. Earth is holy and we know it!

Invoking the Healing Power of the Sea

Earth is the Blue Planet. Those few astronauts who were lucky to see upon it from the skies can gaze at the blue marble that shines in the darkness of the universe. Earth`s shining color is owed, of course, to the omnipresence of water on the globe. 71% of our planet is covered by saline water. Without the dominance of the Oceans, life would not be possible. The sea is for Earth exactly what water is for a human body. Besides, we should think of the Earth as a living organism.

Out of 193 countries, 145 have access to the sea, while 48 are landlocked. Surely, this does not mean that the whole population can enjoy the access to the sea front. And it is pity enough that people living away from the sea may not make efforts to get there, either because it is too expensive for them to travel or because they do not feel the urge to do so. We do not appreciate what we have not experienced. Consider also cases like in Arab countries where women live close to a coast, but they cannot enjoy the sea for religious or “moral” reasons.

Living by the seaside is beneficial for our mental health

If you then belong to the privileged minority that can daily walk by the seaside, rejoice! You have the chance not only to enjoy great views but also to improve your mental health. Although it is quite self-evident that contact to nature is advantageous in many aspects, researches confirm that sea can boost our health in four ways:

1. Sea air helps us sleep better. The air close to the seaside is soothing and makes our body relax. Moreover, the sound of the wave is a wonderful “lullaby”.

2. The sea can destress and inspire us. Regions close to a coastline are generally more scenic. They could arouse inspiratory thoughts and emotions in us. And we tend to associate them with holidays or other blissful moments.

3. She motivates us to take up some exercise. Running along the coast, go swimming or fishing, the sea offers so many opportunities to engage in physical activity. Working out in turn will ameliorate our mood.

4. The sea is more relaxing than a forest. According to this study, living close to the sea is preferable in order to fight negative, depressing thoughts.

A small example of how inspiratory the power of the sea can be, read the words of the Turkish Poet Nâzım Hikmet:

The most beautiful sea:

                   hasn’t been crossed yet.

The most beautiful child:

                   hasn’t grown up yet.

Our most beautiful days:

                   we haven’t seen yet.

And the most beautiful words I wanted to tell you

                   I haven’t said yet…

And listen to the wonderful song of Björk:

Invoking the Magic of the Oceans

Along with the obvious benefits that a seaside can offer, the power of the oceans can go beyond relaxing. The Greek historian Thucydides wrote that “the dominion of the sea is a great matter”. When on a coast, we connect ourselves with the enormity of all Seas and Oceans. One could say, this is mere geography. Yet, let this sink in for a while: if you had the means to travel, you could sail off from the smallest, secure bay to the most distant point of the open sea.

This is an amazing fact that we should transfer to a spiritual level, not only metaphorically but in a literal way. When close to the sea, we should connect with her enormity and her tremendous energy. This could be done, when we deliberately invoke her powers. Therefore, we should establish a connection to her that goes deeper than a usual vacation sojourn by her side.

If you are fortunate enough to be by the seaside, find an evening to go alone to a coast. It is much preferable to visit a place where you can see and hear the waves.

Select a Sea Deity, preferably a benevolent female one. When it comes to the Sea, our mind goes to Yemaya, the Lady of all Seas in Yoruba culture. She is an orisha and the mother of all orishas, who combines grace with power. Thus, she is a spirit of great importance and the most appropriate to summon with great reverence.

If you will be close to the sea, wear clothes of light colors. If it is not too chilly, wear something that permits to the wind to go through your body.

Stand in front of the sea and synchronize your breath with the waves. Do so in a meditative way. If possible, choose the hours of dawn or dusk. Afterwards, think about how enormous the sea is. You can imagine you are sailing off to a distant land. You can think of all creatures living in her or the very beginning of life billion years ago.

Then, invoke Yemaya and the healing powers of the seas with these words:

“Yemayá, Mother of all seas, Lady of the Oceans, let the waves break into my soul, make my spirit enormous as the ocean and let my thoughts be inspired by the endless motion you cause.”

At the end, keep on meditating for a couple of minutes in the sound of the waves.

10 simple steps to transform your life from today on

Life passes by and it passes by fast, if one does not take care of their own self. Many people may complain that they want to change the way they live but they always postpone any initiative in this direction.

It may sound cliché, but life is happening right now. Self-improvement is a magical process of transformation; however, it is a slow, gradual one.

Therefore, don’t lose time and let’s get started! The steps below will boost your will to completely alter your life. Ready?

1. Learn to breathe

Most people ignore its significance. Yet, breath is an essential component of Meditation and Yoga. Learn to observe the way you inhale and exhale. This will regulate your breath and it will improve your physical but also mental health. Don’t forget that breathing is the greatest necessity of life, something we cannot do without for more that some minutes. We should not take it for granted then.

2. Enjoy the moment! Now!

You will say, this is a banality. Even if you have heard it a thousand times though, do you really live in the moment or you send your life thinking about the past and the future?  Stop regretting about what you did. Do not be possessed with your plans. Just relax, and spend some time enjoying your current situation. These moments will never come back.

3. Forgive your self

The Romans had a saying: errare humanum est. It is human to err. It is important to recognize our mistakes and sincerely regret about them. But we should not live permanently with them. Leave your bad self behind and move on.

4. Forgive the others

Quite the same way, we should learn to forgive and forget. If someone has wounded us and they have repented of their deeds, we should learn not to hold a grudge forever. If you believe that this person is going to hurt once again, just step back and go away without letting a toxic relationship to poison you.

5. Stop judging

There is a well-known phrase from New Testament: Judge not, that ye be not judged. (Matthew 7:1-3). We should not interpret this as an order to refrain from expressing an opinion. The point is here not to be malevolent when we criticize.

6. Expect good news

Murphy’s law is true, if you only think that the worst will happen to you! Thinking is energy and positive thinking is positive energy. Try to image in a concrete manner what it would be a good turn of the situation for you. Enjoy thoughts of success, love and happiness. Believe it or not, thinking of them is a precondition for their realization.

7. Invest in your relationships

Happiness is tightly bound with sound human relationships. Give love and love is what you are going to receive in your family or love life. It may not work always in a mutual direction and in the way you would like, but the love you will offer will create good vibes for you and everyone around you. Learn to hear the problems of the others and enhance your Empathy.

8. Be grateful

There is a short magic phrase, and this is “thank you”. Don’t take for granted what you have in your life. Address your gratitude to your family members for being there for you, thank your teachers or colleagues, your friends. Just think how your life would be without them. Also, be grateful to fate and the universe. Things could be much worse so what you already have is a gift.

9. Get rid of the old stuff

Throw away the whole schlock you have around you, literally and metaphorically. Keep only whatever you need and don’t be attached to objects and persons that bring nothing to your life. Clear out your room and your house and then do the same in your life. Life is too short to be spent in abusive and toxic relationships.

10. Love your own self!

Self-esteem and self-appreciation is a condition in order to offer love to other persons. It is often the case that we make ourselves dependent on others not because we really love them but due to our insecurity. Yet, nobody is going to respect us, if we do not respect ourselves. Loving ourselves is not egoism and conceitedness. these are signs of a weak spirit. A strong person is modest but decisive and this is how you are going to thrive in social and personal life. Take also care of yourself and do not waste your energy or capacities.

Do you have any further suggestions? Share them with the witchy community!

The Path you choose reveals your Life Philosophy

Life is a way we must walk through. There is no more pertinent simile than the one that compares life to a path.

And this path is seldom a highway. Life is full of challenges and, actually, this is how it should be in order to invoke the best out of us.

Remember the Choice of Hercules:  When the Hero stood before two paths, two female figures, the ravishing Vice and the prudent Virtue showed him two ways. Vice told him to follow a broad, easy way of pleasures. Virtue showed him a rutty road. Hercules was wise enough to foresee that the first way leads to doom while at the end of the second one he will harvest the fruits of his toil.

“The Choice of Hercules” by the Italian Baroque painter Annibale Carracci.

What is then your choice? Select a Path from the image above and see how you fare your own way in life!

1. The Path of the Otherworld:

You have the feeling you do not belong to this world. Even since your childhood you love to watch the bright night sky wondering where your true home is. You are seeking for another reality. Science fiction, mythology and gothic romances are your favorite readings. You have the ability to create something completely new even if this will be a provocation for the others next to you.

2. The Path of the Fairy World:

Your path is the one of Sensitivity, Kindness and sincere Empathy. Your Dreams, your visions, your passions and your wishes make you feel like a fairy in our cruel world. Although you are prone to many disappointments and extremely vulnerable, you still feel that a fairy godmother will change the outcome. You believe in the power of Goodness. Romance is part of yourself. You love poetry, classical music and jazz and you enjoy beauty of every form.

3. The Path of the Awakened:

This is the path of Spirituality. The sun is setting, and the night is going to come once again. However, you know that the sun will rise again. Your dead ancestors are guiding you and you receive much help via dreams and visions. Emotion is more important than Logic to you. You read books of great Teachers who taught how we can surpass our nature and you want to face the fear of death. You like underground music and you enjoy abstract art.

4. The Path of the Mystics:

This is the Path of the old ways. The labyrinth is the path of the ones who seek true enlightenment, always searching for the truth of the world. A Symbol of alchemists and occult schools, the labyrinth shows your soul journey towards magical realms. You are interested in Witchcraft and Ancient Religions. Symbols and Rituals are important to you. You love old traditional music and you love learning spells by heart.

5. The Path of Intuitive Ones:

Life has no boundaries for you. Your intuition seems to guide you in your whole life. Just like a path in the water, you seem to defy gravity. Faith is your weapon and although many of your friends discourage you to continue your path, you know you made the right choice. Against all the odds, you always find a solution where no one seems to exist. You like traveling, reading modern novels and you have an interesting and successful career.

6. The Path of Mother Nature:

You understand more than anyone that we are part of this world. You’ve always been close to the elements of nature and you somehow feel connected with the Animal kingdom. Moreover, you were always on herbal magic and the power of the trees. You love living in the countryside, away from the turmoil of a city. Your ideas are harmonic, and your family makes you happy. You read old tales and books about history. Your music are the sounds you hear in a serene place.

Being a witch is healthy (and sexy!)

Modern humans are interested in their well-being, especially in the Western world. In the past, our ancestors had to struggle with diseases for which there were no remedies. They had to work harder in order to get basic products, just as alimentation, clothing and the like. Luxury was confined to the upper class. Education as well was accessible to the rich or it was the religious institutions that controlled it.

Today, at least in the developed countries, we have reached a level of prosperity. There are no plagues and epidemic diseases. There is no famine. We define poverty not as incapacity to cover basic needs but with relation to our ability to reach a satisfactory level of consumerism. Simply said, you are poor if you cannot purchase the latest smartphone, a new car or a house in a posh district. So, being poor is not about survival, is about having much.

Hence, people nowadays can enjoy more. But does this mean we are necessarily happier than in the past? No, this is not another attempt to beautify the old times. Living was in the past, as we said, toilsome and full of threats. But what about now? We have more goods to enjoy, we can travel, we can have some security but we are still not content. Psychological problems are on the rise and the challenges can wreck our moods. But what’s the problem?

We need nature to be happy

Our modern lifestyle is problematic and this is something we know. Otherwise, there would nor exist a great market for diet and biological products, training programs and self-improvement philosophies. All these are phenomena that indicate that we are somehow out of balance, not in touch with our true nature. And for this reason, unhappy.

A book under the title “What Doesn’t Kill Us: How Freezing Water, Extreme Altitude and Environmental Conditioning Will Renew Our Lost Evolutionary Strength” tries to explain why this is so.

While technology advanced rapidly in the last 3000 years, our biology is still much older, going back to the birth of Homo Sapiens, 200 thousand years ago, at least. Evolution does not proceed as fast as history.

This development confuses our brain: On the one hand, there is a tendency to find pleasure and relax. This is what Freud called the “pleasure principle”. Once we remove any external challenge, our brain will be blissful and it will enjoy this laziness. Technology and our way of life enables us to avoid natural challenges, like cold weather, hunting for food (and thus fighting with wild animals), sleeping on a hard soil. We also do not have to work the whole day in a field. This is progress that we are really happy to have achieved.

Technology runs faster than evolution

Yet, our body, and consequently our brain, was “manufactured” in order to cope with challenges. The absence of them today is something abnormal for our physiology. This is how the interesting article of Quartz argues:

Yet comfort’s golden age has a hidden dark side. While we can imagine what a difficult environment might feel like, very few of us routinely experience the stresses of our forebears. With no challenge to overcome, frontier to press, or threat to flee from, the humans of this millennium are over

stuffed, overheated, and under-stimulated. The struggles of us privileged denizens of the developed world—getting a job, funding a retirement, getting kids into a good school, posting the right social media update—pale i

n comparison to the daily threats of death or deprivation that our ancestors faced. Despite this apparent victory, success over the natural world hasn’t made our bodies stronger. Quite the opposite, in fact: Effortless comfort has made us fat, lazy, and increasingly in ill health.

Witchcraft is the wisdom of old times

One solution to avoid the degeneration of our body and soul is to simulate, if possible, the way our ancestors lived. Ok, we cannot go hunting mammoths or run naked through the woods but sport and diet undoubtedly helps.

Still, for all those living in metropoles it is extremely unfeasible to reconstruct the way of life of our hunter – gatherer ancestor. Besides, there is one more point here that we should better consider. Trying to reach a good level of well-being is crucial. However, what we also need is a harmonic philosophy of life. This is one that will re-establish the lost balance between ourselves and our nature. Or, better said, it will reintroduce us to our lost nature.

Being a witch or a mage presupposes a deep understanding of both sides. One should observe the power of nature in the environment and in the humans. In fact, this dichotomy does not exist for us. Humans are nature and nature is in humans, and this is how the flow of energy and the summoning of powers is possible.

Witchcraft and Paganism reestablish our link to Nature and the Earth. This is, for example, a fact that the title of this book sufficiently illustrates: Paganism: An Introduction to Earth-Centered Religions. Indeed, the earth, and not the abstract notion of heaven, becomes the center of our spirituality. And this leads consequently to a deeper knowledge of our own existence and to the respect of nature and all its creatures.

And it goes without saying that being healthier makes us more attractive!

Tattoos: Old as Time – Egyptian Mummies Prove it

For many among us there is no doubt that tattoos are cool! Especially, during the last decades, tattoos are not any more connoted with imprisoned criminals or dockworkers and the like. On the contrary, tattoos are so trendy that they tend to become too mainstream! Nowadays, 14% of the adults in the U.S. bear a tattoo, while the percentage reaches the 40% at the ages between 26 – 40. And it is reasonable to suppose that these numbers will increase in the future.

Tattoos are as Old as Time

But who bore tattoos “before it was cool”? Actually, tattoos are as old as history. The Roman historian Herodian reported in the first century that Celts bore animal body markings. Julius Caesar also refers to them in his description of the Gallic wars. Ancient writers such as Herodotus, Plutarch and Pliny the Elder also described tattoos . Yet, the most revealing ancient source evidence about tattoos derives from the Old Testament. In particular, Leviticus 19:28 commands:

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

This is then a proof that the practice of tattooing was not approved by the Jewish religious authorities.

Tattoo is a Magical Contract & a Living Talisman

Just like the Witch Marks, a tattoo was made to represent ones association with a deity, a spirit or an order of priest. Tattoos were in fact a sacrifice – made on a special day only to ‘bind’ the powers of certain entity (or entities) in them. A Magical Contract and a Living Talisman, made with their own flesh and blood.

  • Witches made the same tattoo, to symbolize they were part of the same coven.
  • Ancient Priests and Priestesses, made the same tattoo, to symbolize that they are protected, blessed and empowered by the same deity.
  • Warriors, made the same tattoo, to receive strength and power from a Spirit, even in the darkest ours.
  • Druids, made tattoos, to connect with the spirits of nature.
  • Shamans, made tattoos (usually an animal) to connect with the totems.
  • Alchemists, made the same tattoo, to find inspiration and guidance.

Signs of bravery and magical knowledge

Up to now, archaeologists and scientists believed that the most ancient testimony of a tattoo belonged to Ötzi The Iceman mummy. The mummy lived in the Ötztal Alps on today’s Austrian-Italian border somewhere between 3370 and 3100 BCE. His tattoo was and is still considered to be the oldest one. However, a recent discovery will alter the history of tattoo.

Egyptian mummies have the oldest (and coolest) tattoos ever found

Through infrared examination scientists revealed that two mummies, a male and a female one, which were in display in British Museum for more than 100 years, bear tattoos the date of which goes back to between 3351 and 3017 BC. What fascinates is the fact that the male mummy’s tattoos depict two animals – a giant wild bull and a wild goat-like creature.

“This young man was one of the first people in the world to have a figurative tattoo. It appears as a dark smudge at the top of his arm.” (Photo and Caption taken by the BBC article)

The first figurative tattoos

Up to now, the scientists as well as the visitors of the museum could only see some faint smudges upon the body of the mummy. But modern technology enabled the discovery of these drawings.

The tattoos of the two animals may have been a way to project the power of the male virility and fertility. As the article of The Independent observes, in ancient world, the bull, like the Minotaur of Crete, the Mesopotamian Bull of Heaven and the Anatolian bull-shaped God of Storms constituted a pattern with strength connotations. Similarly, “goat-like creatures often represented masculine sexuality. In Greece, they feature in mythology as often erotic Pan, god of the wild. In ancient Egypt, the ram was sometimes perceived as a primeval force linked to procreation. Indeed, there were three Egyptian sheep gods linked to fertility and creation.”

The female Egyptian mummy has four small S-shaped motifs running down her right shoulder. These may represent a sort of ritual dance.

Although Ötzi’s tattoos may be slightly older, the male mummy’s tattoos are the first to be figurative. They are not merely a combination of horizontal and vertical lines like the ones of Ötzi.

The Armenian Eternity Sign Spell for Prosperity and Longevity

Do you know where the small country of Armenia is? If not, take some time and have a look on a map. The small landlocked country lies next to larger ones such as Turkey and Iran. And it is not far away from the southern borders of Russia.

The tiny Armenian state has a long history and a wonderful culture. In the past, the speakers of Armenian were living across the whole Anatolia, the region that is nowadays eastern Turkey. Due to events that took place during the First World War, the territory of the Armenian population was drastically reduced. Armenians refer to these events as Genocide, similar to the Jewish Holocaust.

Still, against all the odds, the Armenians and their traditions survived. Interestingly, the Armenian language, exotic as it may sound, is an Indo-European one. This fact means that it is relative to other “Aryan” languages such as English, German, Celtic languages, Latin, Greek, Latin and many more.

The Armenian was the first nation to adopt Christianity as its official religion in the early 4th century. Nevertheless, elements of the previous pagan religion survived and have been incorporated in Christian rituals.

The Solar Cross

A very powerful sign of the Armenian antiquity that it is still in wide use is the Armenian Eternity Sign or Wheel of Eternity. The Armenians call it Arevakhach, which means Solar Cross. There is little doubt that the sign is a sort of Swastika, one in rotation and motion.

Armenian Eternity Sign Set (Source: Wikipedia, work by Vahram Mekhitarian)

As we read in this very informative article:

“The Armenian swastika is one of the Armenian symbols of eternity and rebirth. The traditional swastika was the embodiment of light (in the broadest theological sense), hence its name Arevakhach (translated from Armenian – “solar cross”). Besides, during the sun worship period in Armenia, this sign was a symbol of the sun.

The word “swastika” is a composite of two Sanskrit roots: सु, su (good, blessing), and अस्ति, asti (life, existence). Thus, the word itself means “well-being” or “prosperity”. Another Armenian name of the swastika is “vardan” (from the proto-Armenian “rotating”).”

Remember our discussion about swastikas in our Mandala Test.

The Solar Cross is widely used as a national symbol in Armenia. It is found on ancient tombs and artifacts like weapons, in medieval settlements but also on monasteries and churches. It is so widespread in Armenia that it was featured at the Armenian performance for the Eurovision song contest and it has been added in the Armenian Unicode version 7.0.

The following video also provides some information concerning the Solar Cross:

A Spell to the Armenian Trinity

The Armenians are a very spiritual nation. Their language sounds rough, but it is pure and has not been so much abused by modernity as it is the case with Western languages. Therefore, the recitation of Armenian words in the text is fairly powerful.

Now, begin by drawing or printing the Solar Cross. Select a clockwise whirling Arevakhach because this symbolizes infinity. Although not a negative symbol, an anti-clockwise rotation has darker connotations and should be used in more meditative and philosophical contexts.

Place the symbol in front of you on a horizontal position. In front of it bring a bowl with dried fruits and nuts, like apricots, the national fruit of Armenia. It will be ideal if you can get some Armenian red wine or its famous brandy. These are products of the earth that will be offered to the main Trinity of Armenian deities, namely, Khaldi (the warrior god), Teisheba (the weather god) and Artinis (the Sun god).

Put some traditional Armenian music, played with duduk, an ancient woodwind instrument.

When you concentrate, think of a mountainous area that is a bit dry and wild. Try to imagine your life as solid as these mountains. Then utter this spell:

“By the power of Arevakhach, you great gods Khaldi, Teisheba, Artinis, bestow long, prosperous years upon me and my family and let my soul be strong as a majestic mountain that reaches the sky”

After the spell, savor some of the dry fruits and the wine and dedicate it to the gods with a feeling of gratitude.
